Round 3 Pre-Race Discussion

So Round 3 is in two weeks' time from Kyoto National, with the TBO class cars, for 12 Laps.

My concern are the tyres - in the FXO the left front tyre starts burning after lap 5 or so. But let's see.

I have this problem too, I can't do more than 6-7 laps, with my heavy ballast !:shrug: I tried setupgrid, setupfield..... and there is always the same problem.

yeah ive also been playing with those sets. best ive managed is 59.3 but then set only last 3-4 laps... oh dear im in huge trouble...

Regarding the Ballast Requirements for Round 3, shouldn't the FXO carry the biggest ballast, as it is the faster car around this track?

as far as i understand, ballast is standard and based on the cars weight. their is no handicapping in the TBO class...

Ahh right i see.

The FXO will do the full 12 quite easily. If your free we can go do some practice if you like, ill help you out with a setup, just got to play around with the pressures and camber to get the tyres to last.

The suspension needs tweaked too. KY2 is a horrible track for FWD, but it will work out...eventually. :x

You serious... i had a feeling it was down to a camber issue but i couldnt remember what the key was to get that live camber thing up while driving. i only played around with pressure. Im at work at the moment, but maybe sometime tonight?

FRO|FormulaRacing|NDR has been set to the Round 3 Combination.

This will be the server for the remainder of the LFSBC Season (I hope)

And as per the regulations, the ballast for cars is based off the weight of the car without fuel or driver. We do not do any intra-class balancing, ballast is based off of current overall championship points, as per the regulations (Which you should have read and known that that is how they are calculated, as well as many many other things pertinent to your involvement in this series.) ;)

Well hopefully this will be my first race (on reserve list) just been practising in the XR and FXO but couldn't keep the back end in line for the XRT :) FXO it is for me!

If you have a really big problem ith your tyres, you can always stop in the middle of the race, I know, that will ruin your race, but I think it's the only way to race with FXO. Personnally, even I have some difficulties to control the back of the XRT too, I think I will use it, because it's quite easy to save the tyres with it.

Because my life schedule now frees me to do them, I will start finally doing all needed FP sessions, as per the schedule when the signups opened

FP 1 will be THIS SATURDAY, August 23rd at 19:00 UTC, lasting for one hour.

FP 2 will be THIS SUNDAY, August 24th at 19:00 UTC, lasting for one hour.

FP 3 will be held for one hour, at 17:00 UTC, lasting one hour, giving a one hour break before qualification starts.

Bad idea. I'm sure that by switching your driving style and set you'll manage to make them last with faily fast laptimes.

The XRT seems to be more forgiving regarding the tyres than the FXO. At least that's what I've seen today at FP1.
I don't have any time to practice on the XRT though so FXO it is (not to mention I'd have to doodle a skin for the XRT as well).

You should never worry about skins, last year , somebody went on to paint and just wrote there name on the car , main thing i'd worry about is practice.:D

Tbh XRT is at a HUGE dissadvantage in this. Not only is it 1 second off the pace but on top of that it has more ballast if you chose it then the FXO. FXO is faster (a lot) and once the front tires heat up like crazy then you match the XRT's initial performance with good tires. So really XRT should just be X'd :P Almost no chance of winning in that heh. FXO in that combo's faily easy to drive, yes it does heat up the tires but that can be reduced just by driving a bit more smoothly and some setup tweaking.

I was at the FP(1) I think it was 1 today and the difference between was way too big between FXO and XRT and anyone who actually wants to win will have a WAY bigger chance in the FXO.

If the rule hasn't changed, you do have to choose a car sometime before the quali... For now you can use whichever you want.

You may use whaver car you want in FPs 1 and 2, but the car you use for FP3 is the one you are considered automatically to use for the race.

Joe turned on Canreset. You can always search for my username online in "Find user Online" to get to the server.

I really managed to find a neat race and quali set. Ive had time for this event to try things unlike the previous 2 events. Just managed to make the ballast work for me i guess. But who knows, race day is always a different story!

Glad i'm in for the race this weekend :) defo going for FXO, can't stop the wheels spinning for the XRT. My skin consists of a number board in the required places and thats it! cant do anything fancy in PS yet :)

This will be an interesting race.

Tyres shouldn't be too much of an issue, but you never know hehe.

KY2 doesn't have that many clear cut passing places, but if you're driving the RB4 you're gonna have a big disadvantage coming into T1 - FXOs are just gonna pass you left right and centre :(

T1 Lap 1 may be carnage - I wouldn't be surprised to see a few people cutting across the gravel to avoid the mess :tilt:

The big left hander in the middle of the track really kills your tyres - and those in the XRT may be at a slight advantage here.

Yep, keep it as calm as you can through here, but you gotta take risks, or you won't win. Luckily, the lap is 2 minutes, and at that point, I'll have about 90 seconds to decide whether or not to deploy the SC if there is a big first-turn schemozzle and people get beached. I doubt there'll be too much issue here, but if someone is in the beach, and I determine it's a place where others might easily slot into as well, I will deploy the SC. But if you're out of the way, we'll stay full green.

Lol... its not that bad. I was only 0.2 quicker than you were. who knows over a race distance. Slip stream is gonna make up for the 0.2 :-)

Check that you have the settings correct. You must have a username. However, double usernames are not allowed. Funnily enough though, the second user who connects with the same name is allowed to stay (by default) and the first one gets kicked :D:D

Check that your server settings are correct. The server name is irrelevant, but hostname/IP-address is vt.fragmaster.net

The port number is 3808. You can also connect automatically, by using the direct link at http://www.fragmaster.net/vt

Note that in the main window (the big white area below name, server and bindings, and next to connect and setup buttons) it should say: "MSG: Server is available. Press connect"

No you can't. Some idiots don't realize, that the tag is not something you include in your name but it's something the server adds. It means also that you have to be registered to the server and the account is passworded. Different tags mean a different (registered) group, and different groups have different privaledges.

Well, first check youre mic is connected and that it works. You can do that by clicking the little speaker icon (=Play control) in the system tray. If you see a slider called microphine, you can increase volume of your microphone and be able to hear yourself speak (make sure the mute option isn't on). If the 'microphone' slider isn't in among the 'play control' sliders you need to go to settings -> advanced and you should be able to tic boxes. Make sure the 'playback' button is selected, and tic the microphone option. Click ok.

If you don't hear yourself your microphone isn't connected or it's broken.

Also, In ventrilo you need to check the setup window, and the first page there, voice. In the Input device dropdown menu you need to select your soundcard, don't leave it to default device. You may also need to select your soundcard from the mixer menu, select 'recording control' in the mux menu and 'microphone' in the 'line' menu. Then you can try and increase the line volume by using the slider below.

Then click the 'monitor' button and start making noise. The white box next to the monitor and test buttons indicate the volume level by a number, or, if you're microphone doesn't work / is wrongly configured it says 'Abs zero'
