View Full Version : Round 7: Pre-Race Discussion

Hello drivers and managers!

Attached is the layout for round 7 at South City Long. As you'll see, I've done away with the excessive pit lane cones in favor of something a bit simpler. Pit entry and exit are pretty simple as well, and there's not really any portion of the circuit susceptible to cutting, so there are no worries there.

I'm looking forward to this race! Hope you all are as well. :)

Get Astra to do it.

Still better than nothing. Will you just let it run with LFS TV Director?

BenjiMC

I am gonna PM him now. And i dunno how it will be broadcasted regarding director.

What is required by the person to be able to be a commentator?

I did this job for a TV station back when we had a Serbian LFS Community and when our races were broadcast live on TV on primetime ;) :tilt:

DeadWolfBones
30th August 2008, 16:23
Sorry, was doing full time hard labor this week. Didn't really get a chance to write up the drivers' meeting.

So let me just say:

1. Don't wreck each other.

2. Drive smart.

3. Be careful getting out of the pits.

4. You're gonna be on camera, so look pretty.

5. Walls hurt, so stay off of them.

Good luck!

Wind? Weather? :)

CSF

3. Be careful getting out of the pits.

Quick question about that.

When exiting the pits, when can you pull back to the racing line? :) Do you have to stay tight?

See layout.

After you pass the poles you can do whatever you want, but overly aggressive/stupid driving may result in penalties.

Wind? Weather? :)

No wind. Weather as described in the schedule (clear day).

I might help on a last race of season if no one is available.

Thought about trying now but I'm unprepared and still having sore throat from the Belgrade Beer Festival (http://www.belgradebeerfest.com/) a week ago... (drinking and singing with great bands) :schwitz:

Not much point really. A marshal will be running the stream so we decided it's better to have him as a full time marshal.

Well, let's see, the race started at about 2:45 my time.

I get back from errands about 2:05, get into Ventrilo, and Timo says, "deko, we're broadcasting IGTC before adn after LFSBC, and you're commentating." I reply, "You want me to announce on IGTC ?" He says, "Yes." I say, "ooooo.....kayy." and go to IGTC website and skim the rules so I know a basic bit, and of course, doing this while I do some briefing to the LFSBC racers, and the come in with abotu 5 minutes left in IGTC qualifying. I spent most of that time hunting the Tracker link. :-)

But yeah, I usually spend the better part of a week or more preparing to announce anything I commentate on, so that I don't sound like a total hack. So, having time to do proper research, and maybe some Q&As, I'll be better. Also would help not having to leave to do other event. :-)

Yeah, I know the quality of the WMV sucks. I prefered the Flash method better...might have to talk to Mr Failure of FM about that. I did very much enjoy commentating on what I could, and would enjoy doing it again for Round 8 (after being more prepared, too)

This isn't completely accurate. It might be a little better but there's not much difference. The initial problem is the hardware: A computer powerful enough to deliver a good quality stream (+ a computer powerful enough to run LFS nicely) is quite costly :scratchch
