Just made a few laps offline and I can't express in words how much I hate this combo.
I think Massa's spirit came down on me as I couldn't keep on the gray stuff AT ALL - plus generally not pointing in the right direction. :schwitz:
On one of the very few clean laps, I was 2s slower than Ziggy and I have no idea where I can gain more time. Maybe someone wants to share a set or some knowledge regarding this car?
zeugnimod
18th July 2008, 05:37
I think T1 is very important. You can lose a lot of time there if you are able to take the following chicane flatout. ;)
IMO, the amount of spins also heavily depends on the set. Some sets are very grippy and it's almost impossible to lose control with them. Just don't do too rapid movements with the wheel.
I can upload my set tomorrow evening at 22 GMT if you want.
Oh, and don't get the wrong impression. I spin once at least in every third lap, too. :(

Tim, your doing a good job. It's really sad that we don't have more drivers with common sense, because many things today where unavoidable on your part. People talking during races, constant disconnects, people crashing other drivers during qualifying, the list goes on and on. Point being is that for the most part your doing the right things. However, I think with this group of people, we need to be slightly more strict on chatting. Other than that it was a great event.
I haven't had a chance to review it yet but I wasn't too happy with the move Niko made on me. Basically I took t1 much better so I stuck my nose in the chicane. Niko went for broke and jumped the curb. This basically forced me to shut down in order not to get pinched into the tires.
I would have taken 2nd place any day...

I agree and we are very strict with our penalties during all of it, there are a lot of them being handed out today, and a lot will be under review. Thanks for the boost of confidence that I'm doing well, I really needed it this time, after my stupidity code mistakes and some other little things. Will make more posts later.

+1, I got the impression that one quarter of the drivers are just immature, tbh.
I was in the semifinal but I'm still very unhappy with my performance. In the first round, I basically got a bye because Messy timed out. In the second round, I won in 2 races against Stefan Alfons. In the third round, I almost flipped in the chicane and lost via PTW against my friend (:D) Kaw.
No, Stefan, I didn't see you lag at least in our two races. :)

Well I don't want to take someone out of a race anymore than you they want to be taken out, but you have to remember that we're (I understand everyone is and if I need to explain my reasoning behind this statement I will) racing for more than just that race. Point being, I understand your sorry and that you where in the position to have to make a move, but we really should have went into that corner as if we where racing one another. You just simply can't close the door on someone when your side by side. The thing that upsets me about this is the fact that now my chances of winning this championship just diminished by about 25%...
There is plenty of time to come back though, just going to have to put together some flawless weekends. :thumb:

Just a suggestion... Why don't we have a thread labeled protest? That way instead of your having to go back and look at everything, you can allow people to file protest. Also that gives people the chance to protest things that might not have been noticed by the admins. If cutting is still an issue, then we should all work together to try and remember who did the cutting in question. Needless to say cutting the track one time the whole event is not protestable, but more than 2 is room for concern.
The reason I made this post is simply because I received some images from a fellow competitor and I really have no idea where to post them, other than here.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/5nhhjt
blackbird04217
22nd July 2008, 23:08
This would be the thread to do that in, least I always figured it would be. Maybe we need a "Pre Event" and "Post Event" for every race, but I figured it could all be done in one. Either way, please, if anyone has a protest place it here. I will say the time I am going to spend when reviewing all replays is taking some time to ensure accurate decisions. Unfortunately the other day all my effort was lost. I am still at work tonight and may be here pretty late most of the week.
Anyone else with race issues can bring them up here as I will post all penalties here... (Same goes for Event 1 since I just realized the other day I never reviewed it. I won't review it now unless someone makes protests in the Event 1 thread).

Ok guys, thanks for hanging with me and now I still need to go back and do Event 1. But here are the penalties for Event 2, please discuss anything in this topic, or via PM. I put a lot of time into reviewing these and feel my decisions are completed... I will soon come back and edit this.
Another rule is changing which will be valid for this round, and when I go back to Event 1. It is only the penalty amount being reduced from a P3 to a P1.
Q.2.4) Each participant needs to reach split 1 of the track on their cool-down lap. (30pt P3 Penalty for not finishing in time, or running out of fuel)
is now changing to:
Q.2.4) Each participant needs to reach split 1 of the track on their cool-down lap. (5pt P1 Penalty for drivers who did not complete a hotlap, 15pt P2 Penalty for completing the hotlap and not making it to split one for whatever reason.)
Download This (http://www.mediafire.com/?mnzzom4dyin) to see the pictures proving these incidents, as well as the replays to watch what happened. This is a quick summary of what happened, although the .txt file provided in the results attachment can look better.

lmao...yes, i didnt make it to split one on my cool down lap, most likely because i didnt make it to the cooldown lap
heck, i didnt even manage to start the actual qualify lap...i think thats punishment enough and doesnt deserve extra point to be substracted
That does totally suck about not making your qualifying lap. The only reason I needed to keep those point penalties there is because if you made a qualifying time the system doesn't invalidate it. Here and now is the time for the community to speak up about this, as I have thought about it and cut it in half. I don't think 15pts is terrible considering you get 5 for showing to warm-up on time. And 10 for making it into round 1, as long as you did your hotlap. So maybe the penalty should be 5pts if you didn't get a qualifying time and didn't make it into round 1, and it would be 15 if you made it into round 1.
Well, aside from that, 15 points is pretty harsh.
I feel there must be some sort of penalty here and 15 pts isn't as terrible as it seems. You make 15 pts just by making it into round 1. Course if you didn't make it into round 1 that totally sucked but its not the end of the world... My two cents.
De Souza, lets not add any of those P2 Penalties (for not reaching split 1 of cool down lap) to the penalties for the first or second events until otherwise noted. Everyone with these penalties will be treated equally, and you have a small chance to voice your opinions.

Point made. I agree with the way you have it setup.

Not my series, but why are the above penalties (that I have highlighted) listed twice? Typo or two penalties of the same basic type and occurance?

Same type, and occurred back to back. Although the Niko outlap and hotlap cutting should have had different images for the proof, so maybe that was a typo.

did someone save the qualify replays? unfortunately there not blackbird's summary...and im dying to see what went wrong there
edit: blackbird, thx for that explaination, sounds very reasonable, it just sucks for me to say "damn you felix (thats without a seond E btw),if you hadnt showed up first place, you would be better off pointwise now" :D

I do have them and I will upload them to mediafire in a bit if I can remember to do so later. Getting ready to clean and do other random things right now. I need to discuss with others on "the board" but I may make that split 1 penalty be 5pts with no hotlap, and 15 pts with hotlap. This would effectively make the penalty what I wanted/needed - to remove the points up to that spot in the event. (5 pts for showing to warm-up on time, and 10pts if you made it to Round 1).

Ok we have come to the decision as follows -
If you did not finish the qualifying session for whatever reason, fuel, flipped, stuck, disconnected, etc... You will be punished with a 5pt Penalty if you have not completed your hotlap, or a 15pt penalty if you have. This is not as bad as it seems since you get 5pts for showing up to warmup on time, and you get 10pts if your hotlap brings you into Round1. Essentially it's a slap on the wrist. I am now going to review Event 1 and post the results there asap.

Website (http://d4c.storm-servers.net/h2h/) is finally updated!
Looks like Kaw's mistakes on qualifying did have some weight and BigTime's pessimist expectations weren't that bad afterall... But there's still plenty of points to be scored!
I foresee a tight fight for 3rd place. :)

Don't even think about fighting for 3rd place because I want your 5th and no doubt I will get it in next round (or at least try and fail really hard)

How much will you pay for it? :scratchch
That right there is bollocks.
Just to ask a quick quest. What do you loose by us not getting to the 1. sector of cooldown lap? Just wondering.

Well if it took longer than 5 minutes to get to Sector 1 we lose time, and initially that was all I had made a penalty for, however it's professionalism and makes the event feel more like your at a racing track doing this when you get there, I don't want to see people flying off the track after qualifying or racing for that matter. Originally I was going to make the racers go to split one after each race, but that would take too long. It would make the videos look much better when people stay on track after and behave as if it were real life.
The rule was made to bring another level of realism/professionalism to the events, I chopped the penalty to be a mere slap on the wrist, especially for a top dog.

Did good until there. See, this comment shows favoritism and is the improper way to look at this situation. I'm now the points leader because of this penalty and I myself will say that this penalty is a little harsh. I think some of these penalties points need to be looked into because there doesn't seem to be enough versatility in the system, to punish people properly.
Also, incidents like Niko's constant cutting, (which probably cost me a chance to win this event) should be dealt with during the event. You can't let someone hurt 4 other drivers chances of winning, and then penalize that driver at the end of the event. That would give everyone on the other side of the bracket an advantage.

Wow, I don't know where that came from Nolan, but I am FAR from choosing favorites. Everyone is being treated identically. I am merely pointing out yet one more time, that 15pts is not the end of the world here. After two events you already have over 100pts. And the second event didn't end as well as you would have liked for you which would have been more. That's all I meant. Niko got penalized very hard during that last event, and if anyone else was in the same place they would have been dealt with identically the same. Did you not see Niko's penalties above. I know you felt that he should have been warned and such for the aggressive move, you and I talked about this quite a bit that night, as well as Michael and I did after the fact. I stated "I chopped the penalty to be a mere slap on the wrist" for everyone. It used to be a 30pt penalty and I felt that was WAY to harsh for anyone. Especially since its the added realism feel and professionalism... Which is why the rule changed to 5pts if you have not completed a hotlap, and 15pts if you have. That is the final verdict and everyone who broke the rule is treated identically...
I am quite astonished where I am taking sides and treating people differently, but I have been asked by two people now to relieve them from the penalties since they finished the first time around. I am going to consider this and will meet with the other admins to talk it over because the event was restarted and that was my fault. However, if I do this everyone will still be treated the same, I really don't play favorites, nor am I gonna start. I guess this is a touchy subject for me, but if you honestly believe the admin staff or myself are treating people differently let me know, either here (in a nice, clean way), or PM...
Thanks
ADDED:
About penalizing during the event, we used to do this and it's too much pressure to make accurate decisions, that and its only a chance that we notice something wrong in which people complain later. All penalties are dealt with after the event for this specific reason so that we have the time to cool our heads and judge fairly and efficiently rather than pressured to make a quick on the fly decision. What if we gave someone a penalty in our old way of doing things because technically they had more than 2 wheels off track and had cut. But then during the aftermath we notice that even though there was a cut they did not gain any time since they backed off significantly. Then we just applied a very unfair penalty and there's nothing we can do about it. All penalties should be saved till the end to be judged fairly. If someone took you out, or you lost out due to someone being unsportsmanlike, than it was an unlucky day for you but they will be penalized. This happens a lot in real life events as well...

I just wanted to say that we chose points-based penalties for a reason: our races last about 1 minute!
In a normal league race - say IGTC - you have a thread for complaints. Based on that admins fire the replay, check what happened, and then eventually give the penalties.
For us, that procedure will take about 5min tops. But that's 5 minutes with the event being on hold, with everyone looking at blank screens. On an event like that last one where we had about 5 incidents, that's 20-30min of just sitting on the server for everyone, besides your normal waiting time...
That's way too much for anyone's patience.

After two complaints/appeals for the penalties where people had finished qualifying the first time, yet did not finish the second time I did some reviewing and thinking. Everyone awarded with the Q.2.4) Each participant needs to reach split 1 of the track on their cool-down lap. penalties will still receive them regardless of what happened before the restart of the event. This decision is based on the fact that it was still an event atmosphere, the event simply restarted, and the rules still need to be obeyed. I get the fact that people were taken out of their zone, and the event may have run a tad longer than you would typically have thought but I can't allow the penalty to be thrown away here only to be applied the next time around if there was ever another restart. If I was to say that I'd throw them away this time, that would give the impression that I would need to not hand out penalties the next time the same thing happened, and in such it could become a mess.
Sorry for those that appealed, you have valid reasons and I hope you realize that this was thought about but for the above reasons we needed to apply the penalties.
