You have the Pit Speed Limiter on!!! This happens automagically on most cars. Some don't have it like the MRT. (L) is the default on/off for the limiter and is shown on by a green light on the wheel.
Now GO RACE :)

....
wait what?? he only has demo, no cars in demo have limiters, something must be wrong with calibration or whatever; are you using a wheel and pedals?

The throttle has parental controls :(
(Kidding)
What controls are you using? If you are using a wheel, check out this post: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=56829#post56829

Please discribe your problem a bit more detailed. There are three possible scenarios:
You hit the gas pedal, but nothing happens. The engine doesn't rev up or anything.
and the engine revs up to redline, yet you don't move.
you accellerate normally until about 48mph/78kph and then it won't accellerate any more
Solutions Check if you've plugged your wheel in correctly. If yes, you may have to calibrate it in Windows, and/or in LFS.
You simply forgot to put in a gear. Shift up to 1st and let'er rip.
The pit limiter is still active. This is a feature on some of the more race-type S2 cars. Press L to deactivate.
The last point, #3, is gray, because you are a demo racer and thereby cannot suffer from an S2-only feature. If you are S2 licensed, you can login to these forums with your WEBusername and WEBpassword. IF you do suffer from #3, yet are NOT S2 licensed, that means you use a crack. The only solution to that is to kick yourself in the butt and get lost.

If you are already S2 licensed then smack another 12£ at the Devs bank account. Although I would call that transaction a very long-term investment! :)

I have nothing against new(bie) players but if somebody can't even calibrate his wheel he's probably not very familiar with simulations at all. He would probably become another demo crasher.

LFS has the HARDEST controller setup i have ever come across.. atleast with NFSU you can just set what you want.. and play.. and im not even trying to be mad .. its just annoying how confusing LFS's controller setup is

Very true, it isn't user friendly at all. I also see a lot of reviews explain how confusing the menus are to get the controller set up properly.
What it really needs is the calibration that automatically assigns the control when you press a pedal. So basically the kind where you click on 'Throttle' for example, and it puts it into the mode where you can now press any axis to configure --- and press the gas pedal, and violla. Doing it the way we have now is kinda wierd. We should still have that list of axes on the right side, but it shouldn't be a menu to start clicking on things imo. Other things about setting up controls are not very user friendly, it could be improved in most areas, I agree.

And of course NFSU has superior configuration... like Most Wanted had: only wheel setting that you could configurate was "Rumble ON/OFF". LOL!
Well, of course NFSU/MW isn't a game that needs a wheel at all...

Your right, it's a bit confusing first but 100x faster to do when you get used to it. At least when compared to some kind of horrible and heavy animated graphical X-mas tree crap menus. But in this case Cody111 said he can't accelerate - so he probably doesn't even know that it had to be calibrated first. As I said I have nothing against newbies but LFS isn't exactly the right game for people who's previous "sim game" was Colin McRae Rally or NFSU.

But you still need to start somewhere.
Though a post saying "car doesn't accelerate" doesn't really contain any needed information... Hope he gets it sorted and he is clean and good driver :)
Welcome to LFS...

My previous """"sim"""" game was NFSU2 and Toca2. Previously I was absolutely sure that driving model in Toca is very realistic and is very close to RL driving (yeah I know, but I have never been driving a car faster than 110 km/h on stright not to mention my speed of cornering - I'm doing driver license already). Even though I fell in love with LFS stright away.

i hate it when games do that. ive got an oldish joystick that i use for flight sim 2004 and when ever i go to assign an axis, it assigns the rudder streight away (because the rudder potentionmeter is shot).
whats wrong with clicking the "assign throttle" button, wiggle the throttle to see what moves and then clicking that. also an easier way to see if you need to invert it as well (instead of going to the track to see)
