My XF reverse lights are red..?
Zoom in, they are red wirh white dots, yes I don't like them too.
Made a quick "fix" for it so it looks like the old reverse lights.

They aren´t leds, just the typical decal which rear lights have

Shouldn't show turbo vacuum when idling, surely that's impossible just after switching on your car?
Also it seems to be in minus even when the turbo has pressure, as shown in the analogue gauge ;)
I haven't tried the new patch so far, but considering a real life car like an Audi TT MK1 has a max boost of .9 bar and only goes up to that value under full tilt it should be realistic.
A friend of mine with that car had a boost gauge installed and it showed minus values even when accelerating slightly, only if I pushed the pedal more than let's say fifty% it went up to positive figures.

I'm wondering why u swaped position of gauges in XRG :( It's useless change i'm sorry. Changing it back will take 5 mins i guess. I hope u will consider it Scawen :)
Well... I agree swapping them back is better, but maybe a different reason. Speed is almost invisible now in corners (pit entrance for example), so you can't see at all if you're speeding now... last version removed digital speedo, now move it behind the wheel/arms... no good.
But for the rest I like the new textures :D

Scawen - Is this a known problem? Maybe even solved? I had the same, but.. in Y24!
I have 2 installations in 2 different directories, a Y version and a Y24 version. I drove S2 content yesterday evening on the Y version.
This morning I tried to drive a S2 car on Y24, but after selecting a S2 car I got an empty screen. Only the "Cars" and "back" or "ready" button were visible. I expected the pit screen. After pressing enter to join the race (from that empty screen) I received the message "Could not load Mischa's car".
I tried the same with Demo cars and I was surprised to see them work, so.. even with my "unlocked" license, I decided to unlock it again.. to see if it unlocks the content then. But it didn't solve the problem.
In the first place I didn't want to update to Y30 and just wait for Z, but because I couldn't drive S2 content I updated to Y30 and... there I don't have this problem.
I've got no idea if this is Y30 related, but if you want I can perform some more tests.
UPDATE - If you want me to do some more tests I might need some more unlock options, cause I'm out of unlocks and have to wait till friday :) When you release patch Z you add some unlocks again too? I hope so :DI have given you some more unlocks to try again.
So can I check what you are saying... is it that the cars which do not load, do not load in Y24? What about in Y30? Can you successfully unlock with Y30?
You may need to click "Lock LFS - return to demo" and then unlock again.
Please let us know exactly which versions it does and doesn't work with.

Please can you explain this? I don't know what you mean, the FBM and RAC default skins seem ok in my version.
When i go to carselection screen and select the FBM, put on the "default" skin / paintjob i get blackmarks all over the car. And this is with a new install of the Y30.. not a big deal as i only have to copy the FBM_default from another version.
I just mentioned it if someone else had noticed it too :)
Oh yeah btw, about that analog turbogague: is it possible to make it work like a real turbogague? i mean, on idle = stay @ 0bar/psi, engine brake = -XX bar/psi... :) would be good..
but u maybe are doing this for a future patch? what do i know, i only drive :D

To clarify for everyone.. the FILE ("FBM_default.jpg") is containing the image of RAC's default skin.. to make that clear.. :/ it´s not a BUG per se.. as i can just switch the file and get on with my life. but i wondered if anybody else had that missmatched file? :/

There shouldn't even be any XXX_DEFAULT.jpg skins in your skins folder.
LFS is supplied with dds skins in the skins_dds folder. So I guess you put this in there yourself.

I don't know if it's my monitor, but on certain areas where the sunlight doesn't hit the dashboard directly i can't almost see the depht of the gauges. On shadow areas i understand, but otherwise it should still be enough to distinguish.
On the first pic the car is on a place where the sunlight comes from the behind, but it makes the gauges completly dephtless. I can only see it really well when the sun is at the angle like pic 2.

Same thing here.. Must be because of the angle of the meterhousing or something..

Hi. Changes are looking nice. I like the realistic interiors of the road cars.
Small minor error. XFR has some strange left over polygon in the rear left side, inside the car. It is visible from external view as well and I can't see it in anything before Y30. :shy:

Try sitting in a real car. You will notice the rear mirror is not way up high above your head at the top of the windscreen. In fact the bottom of the mirror is just slightly above your eye height.
It wouldnt help because most cars these days have a very different cockpit compared to the XR. I'm 6'6" tall and in most cars my line of sight is somewhere at the top lining of the windscreen :)
But stilll I was in error though. Applying some geometry on the XR (pencil and printscreen of the XR side view) learned that it is in the proper position but the XR has a relatively high cut windscreen so there is quite a slab of glass above the mirror which was what gave me the idea the positioning was wrong.
Anyway, just to get that out of the way. It's not related to the patch.

I found a bug with G25 shifter. I was checking the new reverse lights on XFG, I was on shift+u mode, and I see something wrong:
This is wrong, but happened
With the clutch pushed 100% I introduced all the gear, but only first second and thirth was OK. When I put fourth gear on my shifter the game shows thirth, and the same thing occurs whit the other gears. But if you push a little bit the throttle pedal then the gear change.
Checked again. The only gear who works fine is the gear I introduce while the car in in neutral. All othe shifts dont show up in the game until I presh the throttle, even if I put Neutral
Thirth check with another discovery
It works well if I release the clutch pedal. IT's OK or a bug?
My car was auto-staled by the game because I stop for several seconds.

I think there is an illusion effect that seems to make the mirrors look too low in most of the cars. The 3D to 2D projection seems to amplify the width of that glass above the mirror.
It always seems strange to me, they look right from outside and wrong from inside. But then sitting in a real car, shutting one eye, measuring the apparent size of the mirror and the gap above it, between two fingers etc... seems to show that it's just an illusion.

I found that I can see through the dials when using my custom cam and chase view in XRT, and the shadow has a big hole in it when the car is flipped. I've not checked the other cars yet.
Best way to check the dials is to drive over the painted rumble strips, it's not that visable in the screen shot.

I have given you some more unlocks to try again.
So can I check what you are saying... is it that the cars which do not load, do not load in Y24? What about in Y30? Can you successfully unlock with Y30?
You may need to click "Lock LFS - return to demo" and then unlock again.
Please let us know exactly which versions it does and doesn't work with.
Okay here we go. Yesterday I had 2 LFS installations: LFS 0.5Y16, the other LFS 0.5Y24. Today i found out Y24 didn't work anymore, so I decided to install a 3rd: LFS 0.5Y30. That one worked fine (clean install). First I copied Y24 and tried to update, but I had the same problem as in Y24.
I tried some things for you. First I checked if the problem was still and only in the Y24 installation and yes. Y16 and Y30 work without a problem, Y24 still gave the "empty" screen. I had problems in both singleplayer as multiplayer, so I decided to test this in singleplayer. This is what I did in the Y24 installation:
1) I checked if my license was unlocked -> yes
2) I started singleplayer game and clicked garage on the blackwood track
3) I saw no car selected, so I decided to pick one and choose FZR
4) An (almost) empty screen appears: left top shows FZ50 GTR, right mid shows "Car" and left bottom "Ok"
5) After clicking ok/pressing enter a text message keeps repeating "Could not load Mischa NED's car"
6) I tried the same with demo content -> no problem at all
You gave me some extra unlocks and asked me to try lock back to demo, so I did:
1) Locked back to demo
2) I started singleplayer game again, but now the repeating message "Could not load Mischa NED's car" appears already
I thought this could be because LFS had already a "selected" car in memory. Maybe this was S2 content? So I tried to select a demo car first.
1) Select demo car
2) Select s2 car -> again messages
But yeah.. I'm using demo content now, so I shouldn't be able to select s2 content. Maybe some memory thing, so I decided to restart LFS and now got a neat message after clicking s2 content that I needed to unlock first, so..
1) Unlocked LFS
2) Select S2 content -> works
My conclusion: locking back to demo, unlocking and restarting LFS might be the solution for the problem. Maybe one of my actions above helped to solve it (selecting demo content first after locking back?). This all happened in LFS 0.5Y24 already before I installed and tried the Y30 patch.

Really really nice improvments there, loving the interiers!
I know this might not be the place for suggestions but I will say it anyway.
It will be very hard to figure out how and to do it, but what about have animations of the driver actually moving his/her hand to change gear? Will look a lot more realistic that way.
Just thought I would say seems as you are still in the process of making patches so might be something nice to think about. You have proberly already had people talking about this or taking it into account, but would be a nice new feature to go along with it ;)

I can assign mouse and keyboard buttons to throttle and brake but pressing them won't do anything while in joystick/wheel mode.
(I also tried a "mouse to joystick mapper" program and the buttons pressed are recognized as joystick buttons but won't do anything for brake and throttle.)
In mouse/keyboard mode they do work and it only seems to affect throttle/brake.
Would it be possible to assign values below 1 for mouse axis sensitivity?
It'd be nice if there were button control rate, steer centre reduction and mouse axis sensitivity in joystick/wheel mode too (one unified mode).

I was thinking it had to do with not phisically being in the scene but then I realized that when you look through a window at an interior you don't have this effect either.
The only, far fetched, reason I can think of is that we dont just measure distance by perspective but also by measuring the angle between both our eyes and the amount we have to focus to get it sharp. Because we don't have that info when we look at a computer screen our brains do not correct it.
I can think of an experiment with track IR. When it would be possible to blur the entire scene except for the 3d-object that is in the line of focus, maybe part of the illusion is restored.

I found maybe a bug - be in shift+F mode and press F9-F12 and it will change back to non-shift+F mode
Maybe it's a feature, if so, Scawen can add it to changelog.

Not a bug. That change was made some patches back. It was so you can sort of get what you ask for when you press a key. Before, it could be confusing, pressing things and nothing appearing. So now it tries to do the necessary switching off of other features that would prevent you seeing what you requested by your key press.

The perfect shift light is unrealistic alltogether, i wouldn't mind if it was removed from the sim. There are no shift lights in real life that vary on your setup, they basically just switch ON when they reach certain RPM, but in LFS it actually sugests you when is the perfect time to change gear, depending on your setup. If i'm wrong, someone could correct me, if i'm right, it would be a nice thing to be removed and make like in real racing cars...

Related to this, in hotlapping mode, if you go into shift+U and then press shift+P to go to the garage, the car enters the garage but you remain in the track as an spectator with the message "no car on track". You hace to press shift+P again to enter the garage yourself. I guess this is not a new behaviour. Another thing is the "pause" message persisting into the garage if you press shift+P while you are on pause.

Why is perfect? Rev was on left for ages and now is changed. You know that it's hard to change peeps addiction uh? :) It's not a big deal for me (driver position with female driver is bigger) but in xfg it is in old place so why not in xrg too?
U remember swaped single player with multiplayer button? Same thing here i guess.

Just a little suggestion regarding the FZ lineup..
I do think both FZ models have the best looking interior of all the cars that have not yet been changed interiorwise but the glare on the dials is a bit much.. Too much.
I think it would be better if the glare was decreased so you'd at least be able to clearly read the dials when the sun was shining on them.

Similar bug. Y version (non test patch). I was online, my car was in the gravel and entered shift+u mode, I want to went out from boxes, I presed shift+s and then shift+j, and the game said 'Whiskey has no car' I have to use shift+p metod.
What about my doubt about the gear indicator? And about the wippers orientation? (this is on the Y24 treath)

In this replay it shoots out an OOS error as soon as I press Shift-G and change the gears from manual to auto transmission. I tried it again and it's reproducible.

I just changed my AA and AF settings to full from nothing and i now have a black screen. Restarted LFS, i know it got to the main menu but i actually can't see anything... :shrug: I'll try deleting enb series bloom plugin, maybe thats related to it.

Maybe on XRT will be?Now that the subobjects use hardware vertex shading, and so are lit the same way as the cars, I now need to make them skinnable and that will allow headlights to be rotating subobjects. Also it will allow the wings to break off although of course that involves a lot more (collisions / loss of downforce and mass, etc).

Scawen, would you think about removing the "perfect time to shift the gear" light, and just make it like it is in the real race cars? It would be more interesting if people don't know the perfect time when to change the gears, it would be a bit more "random" and would lead to much interesting races, and maybe limiting the setup options towards the completion of S2? Sorry for the questions, i know you don't want to see them, just had to mention that..

I'll give my own opinion, doesn't have to be right.
Road cars wheel should be different from car to car. For example new wheel is looking good on XFG, but it's horrible on XRT. It's too be and to regular. XRT is more like real sports car, not just a common car!
And rev limiter is on right, not on left side of XRT when you sit on left side of car, is that the way it should be?

introduced somwhere in thses patches. Does not work with the GREEN UNLOCK button when unlocking Y30, I noticed it this time.
just checked its the same in Y.
very small thing but I thought I'd mention it. ( I imagine its for a good reason) :)

thanks a lot for the patch Scawen, and sorry for complaining, but now the XFG and XRG steering wheel looks somewhat "flat" to me. i tried to test adding a "symbol" to it, but i can't, since that small texture is repeated several times on the whole wheel, as you can all see on the attachment.
also don't like the new XRG wheels. i don't know if you will understand what i mean, but they look too much "computer-made" to me. they don't look as real as the XFG or the FBM ones (the only reference i got).
ps: HOLD ON!!! i got something and THIS is pretty interesting! I started LFS to compare the wheels, and when i got to the main menu i noticed the bottom-right corner: "WTF! S2 License???" i exited lfs, reinstalled it, and it was in demo state again. Scawen do you know what could have caused this?
edit: forgot the attachment. and there's 1 fail for me :tilt:
edit2: looks like it's no fail. at least mine. for some reason, my computer is not uploading it.

BTW, the thumbnail pictures in the car selection screen do not show the new wheels (data/pic/x_XRG.jpg for example)
Also a little suggestion regarding the rear view mirror location on the XFG. From cockpit view the mirror looks as if it's in the centre of the windscreen however in shift-u it looks fine. Moving the mirror half way up in the big gap would be perfect. Maybe a spinoff thread to discuss this?

When you host a game from within LFS.exe (which I haven't done since Demo/S1/S2 were combined) you still have the option for Demo / S1 / S2. Since all clients can now interconnect, should this option still be there? Is it just to make it easier to limit the server to particular content? If I select demo, can I then add a non-demo car without stopping the server and changing modes?

I found that I can see through the dials when using my custom cam and chase view in XRT, and the shadow has a big hole in it when the car is flipped. I've not checked the other cars yet.
Best way to check the dials is to drive over the painted rumble strips, it's not that visable in the screen shot.
I tested on all cars, the shadow bug only happens on XRG, XRT and XRR.
I also found a bug on Fern Bay Green and Black:
Every car that hits this wall will pass throught it [see attachment]
for XRT: the speed has to be higher than 160km/h
for the other cars: the speed has to be higher than 175km/h
if you hit the wall on the right it will get back with the same force you putted, usually flying back and distorcing the car.
Its easier to pass throught the wall hitting more to the left.
When you pass throught, sometimes the car respawns back on track, but it can also respawn under the track and stay there. I think the bug happens on Y too, but I didn't try on Y.
And another bug: if you change the transmission from auto to manual using Shift + G and the engine dies, the replay get OOS. This only happens on single player (I couldn't reproduce this on multiplayer) and it doesn't matter the car/track, it will always get OOS. Tried starting on auto and then switching to manual: OOS. Tried starting on Manual, switching [Shift + G] to auto and then to manual [Shift + G]: OOS.
This happens on Y, Y21, Y22, Y24 and Y30. [Replay from Y30 attached]
And hey, why can't we see the Options Menu (Shift + O) when in Shift + U mode? I usually need to do that and I can't. Edit: If you press F9-F12 when in Shift + U mode, the HUD appears but the tires [for example] doesn't show on.

Any ideas why this happened? I did go from Y24 -> Y30, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or if I've just got a legacy setting set somewhere that it shouldn't be...

You didn't install the patch correctly. You're running Y30 .vob (vehicle mesh) files with an Y24 (or older) LFS.exe.

If you start the server in demo mode (or dedicated host with /mode=demo) then you can't enable non-demo cars.
This is to allow starting a host that is guaranteed to allow demo racers or S1 racers, with a single option.

What exactly do you mean with link file? I just use the Shortcut (Snelkoppeling) To start the Y30 version of the game. I made a shortcut out of the map of LFS like I did with the Y24 version.

Had a look in the editor and it seems this was a way of creating a shiny but not too shiny surface within the limitations of our graphics engine.
There are shiny black triangles behind there and that alpha mask is not shiny, so partially removing the visible shine.
At the moment the LFS engine only allows setting of shine level per object so cannot be done per surface. Eric was working around this to create the desired shine level.

The bug I comented some pages before about the fail with gearbox was noticed by my brother (who don't know the existence of that "bug") driving a XRR in fourth gear reducing to third. It seems that the little throttle the injection push is enough to avoid this bug, so you could only reproduce it with the car moving or with a stalled engine.

Did someone post this mirror bug already? I haven't seen it around, but excuse me if it's a double post ;) I attached the picture.. I think that sais it all. The top part of the mirror is not filled / sky blue... I'd expect some trees there ;)

alltho i allways have a backup so i used my backed up lfs and tryed reinstalling it again and it worked. dno how this happened tho still got the copy of lfs which this happens on tho lol. looks quite funny :)

Everyone got a refill to two on Friday evening PLUS another one if they weren't already full at midnight. I'm struggling to see how you can get through two or three unlocks in barely more than 48 hours. If you have two unlocks you should be fine - one to unlock Y30, one to unlock an install with Y. If you really need unlocks and can't wait 'til Saturday morning, you could always use the smegging form (http://www.lfs.net/?page=mailus). Somewhere else Scawen said that he doesn't have time to prowl the forum looking for unlocks; I feel sure Geraldine (or Victor) will be able to resolve the situation after an e-mail.

Hi Duke,
My mistake was to put Y30 over my only LFS then unlocked it and found I could join my Y24 servers coss I didn`t read red text. Then I tried to undo what I had done and then unlocked it only to find I was getting a crash involving LFS.exe. So done a clean install and now need to unlock but have none left.

I waited a bit,then i was bored in tried to start in 5th gear(1:41) Suddenly there was a silly noise.And I had only 2,5FPS...
When i look in replay,there is the noise too,but no FPS lose.

But it seems it was something to do with loading a file?
Please do post an explanation if you post a crash report, otherwise it's just a bit worrying and confusing!

The bug I comented some pages before about the fail with gearbox was noticed by my brother (who don't know the existence of that "bug") driving a XRR in fourth gear reducing to third. It seems that the little throttle the injection push is enough to avoid this bug, so you could only reproduce it with the car moving or with a stalled engine.

First of all, I'm sorry but I don't know how to say it in English, but with the image you should catch it.
In XRG/XRT, there are 4 keys to control the electric windows, but...oh, surprise!! Those cars only have two doors :scratchch
Are you aware that you are writing in an extremely derogatory manner? I can't understand why Scawen doesn't just ban you from the forums.

Yeah - sorry Scawen, forgot to delete the attachment.
Basically I had updated an older version of X rather than wait 20 minutes copying my Y24 folder, and the problem was hte server went to SO6 which clearly in the older installation - i did not have.
HOpe that clears it up ... like i say, i'm a muppet.

I'm a little new to trying the patches, quick question. I installed Y24 last week, love it. And I'd like to installl Y30, can I install this right over my Y24 install, or does it have to be an entirely fresh virgin Y version?

You can install it on Y24, but it's recommended to install it onto a seperate, preferably fresh copy :shrug:

Ehh, that leaves me hesitant. It either works or doesn't, anyone know? Not a big deal, but I'd like to know, because of how I have things setup.

It's fine to install it over your Y24 copy. Y to Y30 can patch any version from Y onwards, to Y30.
The only thing to note is with Y24 you can connect to all hosts from Y to Y24.
With Y30 you can only join to the Y30 (or later when they exist) hosts. There are 71 public Y30 hosts online.

If you copy your LFS folder you will have an unlocked copy of Y24 twice, and you can then upgrade to Y30 and lose an unlock - leaving you one spare. Then you won't run out. Simple, and you can connect to Y and Y30 servers.

Thanks Scawen for making that clear, just did it, everything works perfectly. Great job by the way, I really really like the interior works, can't wait to see more some day. Also in Y24 the way the guages are, so nice, IMO the most important part of an interior is how the guages look, sharpness and smoothess, and standing out, and they're what I'd say near perfect, and a much needed update.

I have two LFS folders, one normal one (currently Y30) and a folder for LFS tweak to play around now and then. Thats Patch Y. If i wanted to race online with the Patch Y folder that has tweak, is it ok to go online as long as i don't turn on LFS tweak or will it detect that tweak has been used and me getting banned?

And i got them, but every car BUT Xrt got them.. xrt:s steering wheel wont chage? whats up with that? some bug or just wrong kind of steering wheel?

Because, that's that type of wheel, usual wheel for street car. :shrug:
Only thing what you could do is add stickers, and thats lame, because there is no place for some middle logo or brand.
That's all in my opinion.

Sorry if this has been already posted, though i doubt it has since 90 % of these posts are thank yous
When you choose no wheel/driver on xfg (and probably other cars) the part steering column you see is disgusting :S. And now that the dash has turn signals on top of speedometer/tachometer, can you use those to indicate lights? Not that anyone will notice since ... when do you use signals in a race? but still, :P

A .DDS file is a texture, you downloaded some new textures for the old steering wheels. The XFG, XRG, XRT and XRR's now have different steering wheels in the new test patch so the textures don't work on them.

Did someone post this mirror bug already? I haven't seen it around, but excuse me if it's a double post ;) I attached the picture.. I think that sais it all. The top part of the mirror is not filled / sky blue... I'd expect some trees there ;)

Same bug on XRT, nothing is reflecting there. No trees, no flags, nothing

Yes that one is fixed (in my version).
I will release Y31 later this afternoon and that will be a good time to check if any reported issues have been fixed. There is a last chance for a couple more fixes tomorrow, if important.

i have a problem with XFR and the gearbox. sometimes the 5th gear doesn't work. i have to push the button 2 or 3 times to change from gear 4 to 5. bug or is this right?

Hi,i had a problem on a server.
I turned and fell on top...
I waited a bit,then i was bored in tried to start in 5th gear(1:41) Suddenly there was a silly noise.And I had only 2,5FPS...
When i look in replay,there is the noise too,but no FPS lose.
Hope u can help scawen.
I get the same as this guy.
If my car is on the roof, and i try to start it in the highest gear, i get an extremely loud noise (sounds like extreme clipping/looping), then everyone lags and i get 2.5FPS. Then i have no choice but to either ctrl+alt+del or to shut off my computer.
I will post specs if needed, but i dont think its a computer issue. I can re-produce this on my laptop and other PC, so im pretty sure its a bug.

2) press shift-p
3) you car ends up in the pits but you dont get to the garage screen
4) press esc to get the "no cars in race" message

ahhh,BTW: I had a Crash when i exited LFS,never happened before.
PS:I played a bit,you see,there are lots of them,i only moved a bit :D
