Ok this is wat i wanted to know.....
I wanted to know if i could make a smoke mod which makes more smoke (which is laready out) but i want the smoke to last longer and not just dissapear in 1 second... this would be much more realistic....
I know it would make much more lag in multiplayer but it will be fun in single player mode... wat use think is it posible to make a mod like that?

I don't see how smoke would add lag, but I think it would be ncie if the smoke could be improved around S3 time, maing it thicker, last a few seconds longer, and less obviously made of circles.
But, as it will have very little impact on racing it's not a big priority. For those who can't do corners (the oval regulars), the smoke does hang for quite a long time due to the amphitheatre nature of ovals, and drivers do have to cope with driving through thick smoke. If (as is rumoured throughout the community but in know way confirmed/denied/discussed by the Devs to my knowledge) S3 gets a graphics engine update I think you could expect advancements then.

No one knows, not even the devs.

You should try Kegety's additional textures (no, not the smokemod, I know what I'm saying)... It's a pack with a wheel, a tire and the smoke .dds... Looks really good without eating so much resources as the mod...

What the hell is with the personal attack? He has given no reason for you to call him an idiot at all.
As for adding lag to the game that is rubbish. What i think they he was talking about was it would make the frame rate 'lag'
Now tristan on the other hand was going for the internet 'lag' as to say you would see cars starting to warp all over the place. and this is not the case.
Graphical lag would occur using the smoke mod using high values.
I myself have a fairly decent system and i use a value of 20000 in smoke mod. I see little FPS drop when you just see smoke/dust/grass. The only place where it REALLY drops is where i just sit there and do a burnout and let the smoke accumulate. I really love the smoke mod and reccomend it to other people to use it. makes my LFS a bit more... Special.
My comp:
CPU: AMD Athlon 2800+ Barton
GFX: H.I.S x800XT-PE 256mb VIVO
MOBO: Soltek 75FRN2-L Nforce2

Who really calls lower fps 'lag'? No one (well, no one I know). Lag is a term resevered for lower [Edit: Higher ] internet pings.
And look - not even a single rude remark about anyone. Aren't I good at this 'not rising to the challenge' malarky.

I actually call low FPS 'Chunking' or 'Chunky' or maybe even 'chugging'. But never lag. As you stated tristan, it is mainly terminology for internet pings.
But you only call it LAG with HIGHER pings.
just thought i'd clear that up :)

vote for longer smoke existance... cause?
hm, maybee bad example BUT see the end of "die hard 2" the part where a plane flies through the smoke of the Bad guys plane burning...
imagine a car on the strip strafing the smoke around it's body and changing the path of the smoke...

Well as i said before. i use the smoke mod and have the value set on 20000!!!
And i can tell you when rallying with 14 other people... THE BEST EXPERIENCE.
At points i could hardly see 20m ahead of me. i can tell you the adrenaline starts pumping then. with the 20000 value you get massive smoke/dust/grass clouds and last for at least 20 seconds i think it is. Amazing just watching it and even more amazing when you're in there racing too!

Lag means delay. So in a way you could call low FPS lag as there is a bigger delay in the time between rendering each frame. :P

As vendetta and alco64 said the smoke mod makes the smoke last as long as you would like. The first value in the smokemod.cfg file it says SmokeDensity = Lifetime and size of smoke, I have my values as
3000.1000 which equals a very much more realisitc graphic.

looks like the person that class a reduced fps "lag" has been banned...

If u guys have the smokeMod
Edit the smokemod.cfg file...... Change the line that says 5000.00
To like 8000.000 or 9000.000
i have mine on 8000..... I post a video or a screenshot of me doin a donut with the smokemod and these settings :thumb:
