I highly appreciate your assumption that we all have supernatural powers and know the solution to every problem, but I think you'll have to settle with giving out system specs first.

Press Shift+W in game. That reintalizes sound devices. Perhaps it will help.

Reinstall your drivers, or try reinstalling directX.

Try running dxdiag, see what that throws up - take a look at the Sound tabs, in particular the "test direct sound". If it works fine, try moving the HW acceleration down a notch and see if it makes any difference.

i dont know but this is very very annoying with out sound. but it plays music and other stuff when i'm out side of lfs but when i go in lfs, the music will play still, but lfs wont make a sound... i would like to know whats wrong... i dought reinstalling anything is gonna fix it if not just make it worse.... i'm still thinking it is somthing with my sound card.. cause "C3" on my sound card looks like a small AA batter just shortend, it is bent a lil bit i think i ended up bending when i was taking the fans out to clean them last night, i wasn't to carful about it :( some one got any more advice about " Error: Intalizing Sound" ? I Tryed DxDiag, and i get "error: problem getting extra sound info, result code = 0x8878000a (the request failed because directsound resources, such as the priority level, where allready in use by a nother caller.)" i click on the sound tab, click "test directsound" go trough 8 or 9 sound deals then it tells me " your sound card dose not support hardware buffering. sounds will only play back from software buffers."

I was also flipping trough the tabs and went to the direct x tab and it said '' the file quasf.dll is an older version, witch could cause problems." is that my problem? I'm now installing Direct X 9.0, i had Direct X 8.1 so hopfully this will help it...

Ok, i have a SB Live! to. You NEED the latest driver from Creative.com, I used to have this problem with the drivers that come with windows. The drivers from Creative fixed it right up.

i've installed direct x 9.0, and ran the dxdiag.exe ant no problems, every thing worked fine... i started up lfs and this time i get the same thing but i also get "SetProperties Failed" i have no sound what so ever, i go load up all the multiplayer servres and i get it 2 more times "SetProperties Failed" i go in to a privet server and get it once a gain 2 more times... every thing works in the game fine except the sound, and the ffb on my wheel.. Also i have uninstalled SP2 on my computer i dont know if that would cause that or not, i'm looking to install SP2 back on my computer to see if it helps or not, i cant find a place to download SP2 tough.

I was using the same files of LFS as previously on my last windows install.. I have the same issue with sound working outside of the game but not within. Trying Shift + W does nothing what so ever, I have onboard realtek ac'97 alc850 audio which isn't the best.. but it's gotten me by so far, I might go out and pick up a cheap Sound Blaster Creative Audigy, that or I might try the Creative SB 16 PCI from my parents computer to see if it helps.

i would try my moms sound card.... but i dont think i can. i was looking at hers, it dont have a card, its just a wire running from the plug in to the mother bord and her connection to the mother bord is diffrent than mine, my sound card is like 1 inch to an inch and a half square (same size on both sides wide and long, for those of you that dont understand.) i dont know what to do, i've installed like 15 diffrent drivers on my computer none of them help at all.. my mom has a disk with a bunch of stuff on it and some of it is about sound. i was thinking of replacing all of that stuff but i'm not for sure about it yet.. please help us... thankz

Installed new sound drivers and there still is NO sound! I'm starting to think that the error have nothing to do with sound card.
Maybe I am DOOMED to play this wonderful game without sound!:Looking_a

if you are running XP and you know when it was working you could try using system restore to take it back a few days.

the other thing you could try is to uninstall the hardware in system Device manager then reboot the PC and reinstall them. *create a system restore point if you are using XP before you start.

I have an Nvidia Nforce Motherboard, i had a problem with the sound doing this helped me!

Cant remember if i then reinstalled direct X :S

other question did you try other games - is the sound off in them too? Oh wait thats a daft question there is only one game!!

ok, just installing new sound drivers dose nothing, but dont mean your doomed... it could be the sound card being messed up in just one spot, i think i know what mine is but i'm not for sure.. on my sound card "C3" has a lil batter about the size of a AA batter just shorter and it got bent when i was putting my computer back togeather.

I also have S1 0.3H6 i beleave it is on my computer i tryed that and i got the same thing "Error: Antalizing Sound" roadkillpossum, do you have SP2 on your computer or have you uninstalled it? thats what done it for me i think is SP2 i uninstalled it and that is when my sound started Fin up.. System Restore is to hard, i have to put every thing i have on a disk, reinstall my internet and reajust every thing on my computer, but!! i've been thinking:scratchch about it being as in i wouldn't be setting around all day drinking pop and looking around for a way to fix the computer... lol
Sorry this post is so long..
