Hi guys,

i really want to learn this game and have fun time with other players on the net playing some online races .

im a beginner and currently trying to learn the tracks

ive got the demo and a logitech gt force pro racing wheel , its really hard to get into it ;-)

Are there any Beginner servers where i could start playin with other people who are not so experienced?

Or is there something like a clan or community with other players who are racing and practicing on regular basis?

would be great let me know!

greetings

btw: what do i need to make my own car (colors and fonts)

1st of all, welcome to Live For Speed. Hmm, kind of hard to say about Beginner Server's. There might be some on the Demo Server, but I guess this will be a bit hit and miss. You will find some friendly people on there that will help. Best bet, is to buy an S2 license.

There is more helpful people on S2 servers, as well as cleaner racing. Also with S2 License, you can join the CRC (Clean Racers Club ) which is there to help and guide people, as well as promote Clean Racing.

Hop online, and take a look around. You can join and leave as many servers as you wish, as you will find, LFS interface for online gaming is very easy to use, as well as quick.

You cannot design your own car, as in car shape. You can however design your own car skin. The template for these are kept in the data\skins folder, and you can use any Paint package to edit these and save as your own.

Have fun, and maybe see you around

And remember that you can always ask help when you're on some server. If you need setups or have questions just ask :). But don't do it when there is a race going on. People don't usually chat&send setups&drive.

Welcome to LFS.

PS. We will never let you leave :)

EDIT: Racing is much better on licensed servers, demo servers can sometimes be quite chaotic.

Yes in that folder, you will see the skins. As Clownpaint says, they are named, as to what car you can edit. Now as you only have the demo atm, you can edit all the cars, but the demo only allows you to use the XFG, XRR, XRT.

Basically, open the template file default_XFG.jpg for instance. Make some changes to it, then same it as what ever you want, i.e. Myskin_XFG.jpg. Then open LFS, goto Garage, click on Cars, then on the left hand side, under where the default skin settings are click new, then type a name, then at the bottom, click on the skin name, and then click on the one you created. Thats it. Would do you piccies, but at work.

Hope this is all understandable :scratchch

I don't think anyone mentioned - you should really use the CMX Viewer to make car skins. It's the third download on this page.

http://www.liveforspeed.net/?page=addons

It contains full-size templates at 1024x1024, which is the resolution you should use for making your car skin. It's a small program with quick loading, and can run in the background when you are editing your skin, so it has many advantages. This is the first thing to get before you make a skin! And it's free. :)

When you have an S2 license you can upload your skins to LFS World so other people can see your car properly and for that they must be at 1024x1024 resolution.

Bearing in mind you shouldnt have the CMX viewer in the same directory as the LFS install.

Can you explain why not please? that's where mine is....ok it's a sub folder within the LFS root dir but it's still in the same place....my LFS seems happy as larry, but if I'm doing something stupid then I'd quite like to know....ta much! :thumb:

Because the CMX viewer isn't (yet) able to cope with the new font system patch Q introduced. It will give you a "could not load font" error message on startup.

If it's safely in its own sub-folder within your LFS folder then it's ok.

The font error would come up if it's extracted into the same directory structure (like installing a patch) so the CMX Viewer exe is right next to the LFS.exe.

S2 CMX Viewer was never intended to share the directory structure with the S2 install.

[...], where i can get the s2 liscense?
[...]

as i can see, you are a fellow german, so you can easily order here:
http://www.4players.de/rendersite.php?LAYOUT=order&world=lfs&sid=
much easier, as you need no credit card

I seee.....sorted thank you....it's got it's own sub folder and I've never had any errors on start up, so I presume it's all good. I just wanted to keep things tidy by putting all LFS related stuff into one big directory [altough everything except the game is in various different sub folders]
