I know they are propably not going to be in game shortly, but i'd really like to see old american muscle cars like mustang, dodge charger etc...

Where the heck are they?? :)

That's just my 5 cents though..

There is no real car in game. FZ50 GTR for example, my favorite, would be half the Porsche half the Ferrari maybe...
Would you be happy if there simply was some half Mustang half Charger, or maybe 2 of a kind, so they could have a nice races against each other? :smileypul

Yes there is... two, but have you seen anyone driving around lately with shiny new RA or MRT5 :D

Muscle cars coud be cool, big and heavy and with lots of waisted litres in the engine... but can you do corners with american cars :scratchch

depends where you live blackout :p Hhahahha

stil would like to see some muscle cars.. need more cars with ACTUAL power rather than... turbo's (not that i dont like turbos; i loooooove turbos.. i just want to see some raw power [like the FZR; thats whats so cool about that car.. cause it has no turbo.. just power])

Something with a big engine, lazy power, leaf springs and a solid rear axle should certainly make for an entertaining drive.

Personally, I like big brutish RWD Yank Tanks. I'm not sure that they fit the 'flavour' of LFS though - certainly not as it is at the moment.

An add-on 'muscle car pack' would be fun, and I'd download it, certainly. Probably doesn't warrant being a high priority development though. (Wonder if the devs would be amenable to users submitting quality meshes and profiles to this end, however...)

A lot of the current LFS tracks would be... challenging... for such a car, methinks! A filter to identify this class of car for servers would be vital too.

A very basic point, but important of course is that if any more cars are introduced, the car selection screen will need to be changed to accomodate them!

I think LFS really needs some V8 cars - a 1960's coupe (think Mustang/Camaro), a "modern" coupe (think Corvette Z06), and a sedan (NASCAR type car). Front engine, RWD V8 cars are very popular, not just in the U.S., and having these types of cars would allow for racing that more closely resembles popular racing classes. NASCAR, NASA, Trans-Am, Australian V8 Supercar, NHRA Drag Racing, etc. all use RWD V8 cars. Adding two or three new models to the game would make a huge impact on the types of racing that could be done. Personally, I would love to run the road courses against my friends in a '69 Mustang (or similar "not real" car). Recreating the 1960's Trans-Am racing or the Camaro Mustang Challenge would be great fun. I'll take this type of racing over the game's current GTR cars any day. And, even though I'm not a NASCAR fan, the chance to drive a high end V8 car like that on a twisty road course would be great.

Thanks for telling me. It's just my horrible memory in case of MRT5, because now I remember how I saw the real world counterpart photo for it. And the Raceabout always was very reminding me of some prototype car, or at least an exot from some designer... bah no way I'm gonna google now. Please tell me the name. Thanks ;0)

American muscle beasts would surely extend the fun in LFS. :thumb:

BTW, I am not so confident about the "huge impact" on the LFS game like Cue-Ball for example. To be honest, Live for Speed has the British Racing Green tint for me. Eventhough I can't really drive the LX4 and LX6, I never stop trying! And I believe that devs feel the same. :D

I agree it could be entertaining, if also somewhat frustrating :D

Take a look at the bottom of this thread (Antsa's post) in the Gran Turismo section of RSC for a nice example of a muscle car on a track by the way:

Man, does that car lean thru the corners :D

LFS could really do with some full race engines, rather than production based 4s which it seems to specialise in, would really like to see BDAs, DFVs and F5000 spec Chevy V8s.

Hi. uhhh I dunno how to put this...

Uh since the actual cars in LFs are imaginary (ok not the RAC and the MRT)
are y'all wanting REAL american musclecars or replicars like what they do in
GTA and the Driver games?
Uh speaking of the RAC, I dunno how it handles in real life, but in the game it handles like a couple of Dodges and Chryslers I've driven in real life.
Well the Dodges had V8s (383 and a 440), but the handling and the acceleration
of the RAC is almost identical to my mom's chrysler 440 Brougham/
Uh I think that the devs ought to take advantage of the potential they have
in the drag strip by at least providing Chopped and channelled top fuel
versions and Pro stock and pro gas versions of the current cars that are in LFS now
That way you could have a UF 1000 on an equal footing with a FZ50,
Yet both having fully blown V8 motors and of course, RWD

tehre are a lot of people building 3D concept cars in several forums, like SMCars for example. I'm not a fan of american muscle AT ALL, but variety is always good :).

Maybe the devs should/could post a car creation contest for S3?

America is simply too far away from Europe. I'm quite happy that LFS is british game.

Which does not mean I wouldn't welcome a bit of exotica in it. :bartsimps

I wouldn't mind a Aston Martin DB6 type car in LFS :D Actually, that would kick arse.

WatersEdge

Since I've never lived anywhere but the US, it's strange to think of these cars as being foreign, but seeing how many of you are European, it would probably be odd for you to think of them as domestic. I've grown up around these cars, and I've learned to revere them as part of our automotive history, as I'm sure our European brothers have their Aston Martins, Lancias, and Audis.

Speaking as an American, these cars are special to us. They represent individuality and expression, power and elegance...it's hard to explain. Muscle cars in Live for Speed would be an excellent addition, (speaking for myself now) and would make the experience that much more fun.

However, to add these cars to LFS would present a problem. Under the current physics settings, these cars would be nearly impossible to control, given their astronomical levels of torque. Imagine the RaceAbout, with twice the torque and the body roll to match a Spitfire. Not a pretty picture. If the grip problem that seems to plague many of the rear-wheel drive cars in this sim could be eliminated, then I think that muscle cars would be an excellent addition to the garage.

I'm sorry.. So you suggest reducing the realism in LFS to add these extra cars? That's a little .. backwards, I think. I find the realism levels quite good, and to reduce those just so you can control a muscle car is quite .. Dare I say, lame :) (No, I'm not flaming you. I'm just stating a personal opinion).

:fence:

WatersEdge
28th August 2005, 07:10
To reduce the level of realism to include a few cars would be lame, I completely agree. However, that's not what I was talking about. I think that the problem with the tire grip needs to be solved, regardless of what cars are added into the game. The point I was trying to make is that until that problem is solved, any muscle car rendered in the current physics settings (with its high levels of torque and body roll) would be nearly uncontrollable. I'm not the only one who thinks that there's a problem with the grip in this game...you'll find mentions of the problem scattered all throughout this forum. I just wanted to say that while I feel that muscle cars in Live for Speed would be awesome, I thought I should say that I thought that any potential addition of a high-torque car should wait until this bug is squashed.

(And I know you weren't trying to flame me. There are many that think there is nothing wrong with the physics of LFS as-is, but there are also many who feel that there is room for improvement.)

I think something like a muscle car or pony car in LFS wouild be good, my choice of a car to start of with is the Foxbody Mustang (because it is light) or the 3rd Gen, 1LE Suspension, F-body's then chance a few things to get away with not having to sign a copyright.

Hello there,

Somebody requested a Muscle car for LFS.

Well i have made a .twk for the XR GT. This is as close as youre gunna get to muscle cars i think at the moment.

here's the link to my 1967 Dodge Challenger, im still tryin to work out how to make the front lift off when you Rev high in 1st and 2nd gear, but not doing too bad so far.

American muzzle cars? Sure. I would like to see Mercer T35 Raceabout. Magnificent piece of machinery. Big 5 liter engine (4916cm3) and amazing 58bhp at 1500 revs/min. Only 150 been built between 1911-14. Very prized nowadays among collectors :D

Seriously it would be interesting to change gears with manual clutch in LFS and use the 'double cluthing' used in cars of those days :scratchch

Or maybe Bugatti Type 35 from 1920s would be more interesting, but it's not American and you probably need a license for it unlike Mercer (nobody owns the 'Mercer' product name?).

I tried to make a .twk for the Mercer 35-j Runabout, but it's difficult lol. Im used to cars with a little more than 58Hp! ;) I might try it as a little Project.

If youre fed up with Normal Engine sizes and so on in LFS,
Go to my thread here:

and check out some cars i made. Like a 1967 Dodge Challenger, Cant remember if iv'e alrady put the link on another post :S

I'd love to see them implement my 1970 Ford Torino (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v629/Bearcat101/torinoresized.jpg) with a 351. They should leave out the virtually tread-less back tires though. As soon as my wheels touch the white paint at 4-way stop they spin out of control... you dont even want to hear about rainy days.
