View Full Version : Success Ballast Program

Were a group of mates that race together once a week.
There are massively different levels of experience between us, but like nice close racing.

We have been using success ballast/air restriction to try and balance the feild. But adding/removing this manually is a bit hit and miss, especially when we make the server public.

Ballast/restriction could be added/removed depending on placing or average lap time or combo of both.
I don’t think the ballast could be added automatically but a message to each driver stating their new handicap; send to pit and a check to see if the new handicap parameters were met upon leaving.

We have some amazing close races when we get the balancing correct, even though some of the boys have done 100,000 miles+ and others lucky to have 5k

Is something like this possible?

so, you want an app that checks the ballast/handicap? and lets you know? should be do-able afaik
duo to my lack of experience i can't do it for you though, i would if i could

Looks like the restriction checker system is available , but what we're looking for is a program that calculates the amount of ballast or intake restriction dependant on your finish place , something like btcc

1st position: +42 Kg
2nd: +30 Kg
3rd: +18 Kg
4th: +9 Kg
5th: +0 Kg
6th or lower: 0 Kg
(and then use a restriction checker )

and then keep adding/subtracting as the night goes on to keep the racing as close as possible.

Well sending a message should be easy enough, and you're the ones with experience on how to calculate the ballast / intake settings. So use the other app as a base (if the source is available) and code this into it.

If you guys provided the formula to calculate the restrictions, I'd be happy to put it into a program  PM me for details...

I have been working on it, and I'm going to do some testing today. It's a bit harder than I thought, but still quite possible ;)
