WELCOME TO ONEGP (http://www.lfsworld.net/remote/?host=www.onegp.net)
To help avoid confusion beween the oneGP F1 Series and its support categories ive opened this thread to deal with specifically the support categories.
FBMW Series
As the first round of the oneGP F1 World series approaches, so to will the first of the support series. These will take place on average before the qualifying session of the F1 series.
The Formula BMW series will follow the 14 rounds and tracks of the F1 series and run at an average distance of 100km per race - with race laps work out to be as close to this 100km as possible. As with the F1 series , the support series races will be every 2 weeks on a Saturday. Grid is open to a field of 18 drivers.
To apply for a positon in the Formula BMW Series apply in writing to admin@onegp.net stating your interest and LFS username, or simply leave a post here - those that have applied already need not reapply to this new thread, and will hold their positions in the series.

FZR SuperCup Series
The Gti Cup as now been replaced with the FZR SuperCup Series, which will see the FZR run with a 13% intake restriction. Grid is open to a field of 18 drivers.
The format will remain the same , with race laps based on a 100km distance, and the series will still follow the oneGP F1 World Series rounds.

i voted xfr but you dont want more series than you can fill
edit: i have just had another thought how bout a gtr leauge or one just running the fzr to replicate the porche supercup(one of the f1 support series) and an f08 series to emulate gp2

thats right mate - and this support series will be the one that drops if interest is not sufficient - FBM and F1 should go ahead fine , its the GTi Cup that is the only series really in question
I also think XFR too - a bit more power and some great racing to be had with that car - any way its open to suggestions, at the worst ill drop that support category. ;)

i voted xfr as it seems a car most people are able to drive therefore bringing people to the series but yh the fbm does go with the f1, i wasnt questioning it i was just saying it as a, what you could do

yeah i like the idea of running the fzr to replicate the porche supercup.
but again. FZR is not an easy car to drive therefore might not be able to attract enough people to compete in the series.
i guess the only choice left is XFR:nod:

Id replace it with gtr class, restricted, to be like just the porsche supercup.

thats quite a good idea actually. I like the sound of a restricted fzr
SilverArrows77
2nd May 2008, 06:09
must admit i like that idea too - had thought of something like that early on when planning oneGP, but wasnt sure how it would go. May well prove a better idea than the planned GTi Cup - and with a slight restriction it would make for some great racing

2nd May 2008, 11:25
Restrict it to 400bhp, the weight is near enough the same, and you have yourself a porsche :D. Might go try it out on LFS later, ill post my thoughts when ive given it a bash.

Well that seems to be the early favorite - just taken it for a few test laps myself with a 13% intake restriction and was quite fun. May enable it on the server so anyone can test it out too, with that restriction.
*EDIT* FZR with 13% intake restriction is now added to server for anyone that wants to try it out - so far im enjoying it, will make for very close fun racing

With the F1 Series now finding its feet and the number of teams increasing, its time to remind anyone interested of the support series categories.
Currently the field is quite open for the FBMW Series, with a total field of 15 drivers positions still available.
The Gti Cup Series , as mentioned in previous posts, is under consideration for a change to another class of car, with the FZR running a 13% intake restriction currently seeming the popular choice.
As mentioned in the F1 Series thread, the start times of the series are being reconsidered to better suit those who may be interested in taking part - the possible change would see the support series moving to a later start time by 2hours to :
9:30am Gti Cup Qualifying
9:45am Gti Cup Race
11:00am FBMW Series Qualifying
11:15am FBMW Series Race
This will be confirmed as the field of drivers is formed, and we reach a decision about what is most suitable.

Could i race in both F1 and FZR Supercup?
Sure can mate - thats completely fine with me :) in fact im thinking of letting teams be run in the support categories too - and the F1 Team Managers are welcome to have their team run in the support categories , whether its with different drivers or the same as the F1 line up - this will just be an option though, not a requirement. The support categories will still be open to individuals too if i go ahead with the teams idea.

We would probably run a Supercup team aswell.

Sure mate, which series are you actually entering? Once i know, and i know your desired team name , ill add you to the list confirmed teams.
FZR Supercup is certainly sounding like where peoples interest is, rather that the Gti Cup - so is looking quite likely will run it mate with the FZR Supercup name :thumb:

TEST SESSION (Support Categories) - 13th May (8pm GMT)
The oneGP server will be hosting test session races on the above date for all support series entrants. This will also be open to guests who are considering entering any of the support series categories.
Short races (approx 8laps) will alternate between the FZR SuperCup car and the Formula BMW.
This is not a requirement for any of the support series teams, but will provide a good chance to get a look at the competition and get a feel for the first track in the series.

FO8 = GP2 style races.

FO8 = GP2 style races.
When i was in the early planning stages of oneGP i did consider running a support category as FO8 to recreate a gp2 style class - in the end i decided on FBM as it is more likely to create good close racing, with its much easier handling.
When reconsidering the GTi Cup series, i thought i would add the FO8 to the poll just to see what kind of interest it would gather, and i see it has received a couple of votes - but have now decided going for the FZR SuperCup idea, and having done some testing in it with the restriction, i can see this being an extremely close competitive series, should in receive enough entrants :)

As far as number boards mate, im happy for any numbers to be run in this first season. When season 2 comes around though then ill be handing out numbers based on season one standings - this is whats basically happening for the oneGP F1 Series too.
If you'd like to have a go at a SuperCup logo mate then go for it :thumb:, it would be one less thing id have to think about lol, so i would appreciate it :)

Easiest way would be to start in something like photoshop or the GIMP and work with a transparent background and layers. Someone else maybe able to advise how to deal better with it if you have already made it with a background - graphic design isnt one of my strong points lol

Would i be able to have '17' as my number?
And will there be dropped rounds eg. my worst 2 results dont count. sometimes that works better because in years and this season to come people will miss rounds.
EDIT: Just found out i have to miss the 1st race, will it be delayed if there arent enough entries?
Im just curious....if it is delayed will the round be cancelled or will we have a different race day to the F1 cars?

How would i go about entering if i can only attend 8 races out of the 14?
I'm limited with the amount of commitment that i can give due to my work :(, is there a team championship? maybe i could get one of my fellow PM drivers to cover me for those races, at least we will gain the points for the Team standings.

At this stage i havent considered the option of "dropping worst rounds" as its something i admit ive never been a fan of - im happy to hear views on this though and reconsider - for the support categories anyway.
Its possible that the support series wont kick off on round 1 of the F1 series, but may instead begin on rounds 2 or 3 - depends on how many people have confirmed to race in it - but it will always be on the same day as the F1 Series and run before the F1 race.
Oh, and yes - number 17 is fine to have mate ;)

If you can only race 8 rounds of the 14 then that is fine by me mate, the only time this would be a problem would be if we had a full field of drivers that are commited to making every round - which is unlikely in season 1 at least.
As far as team entries , im all for that , and have already listed one team in the FZR Supercup - so you are welcome to enter as a team , and have a reserve driver fill your position when u cannot make a round - The one point ill make with this though is - a reserve driver will score HIS own drivers points when racing (he does not add to your drivers points) but he DOES score points for your team standings when racing in your place. :)

Due to the less than required interest for the support categories, these will now be placed on hold until further notice.
A proposed new concept for support categories has been made as a post in the league section here (http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=809129#post809129) - and as such hopefully the support categories will return as part of oneGP in the near future
Feel free to send me any questions or leave a post here. :)

yeah is a little bit of a disappoint, though im happy with the progress of the main F1 Series.
It wont be the end of support category ideas though - just a rethink with their approach. Hopefully as the F1 Series builds and grows it will also attract others to the the support category ideas.
Though if people are interested in the current support series still i am happy to relaunch them at any time - as long as there is a reasonable grid size to launch - (12 would probably be mininum amount of drivers before a series could begin)

Maybe instead of having a GTR group for one specific car, it should be one support series including the FXR, XRR, and the FZR. Maybe that'd stir more interest.

Yeah thats right , and am open to any series that wishes to run something like that. I think i expected too much myself by trying to have the support series take off with the F1 series, but there are plenty of possibilities there to be worked on. For now the F1 Series is off to a fair start, which was the main goal :) and im sure other thinsg will follow :)
BTW wOoOzy, congrats on great podium finish in the demo race - and great to see you with S2 now, even if you did have to buy it in the end :) Looking forward to seeing ya race in round 2 on sat :)
