Is there such an option in game? I got xbox controller and configured steering to be on one of the axis, the problem is that it's super seisitive (i just touch the joystick and get extreme overstreer). I tried adjusting dead spot and all other options in game, nothing helps, it just steers too fast.
There is a "steer rate" option in keyboard adjustment, but not in joystick/wheel adjustments.

Does not help at all. Too bad, impossible to play the game with such insane steering.

Buy a wheel. It's the only way to go.

I use an xbox controller and have done since I've started with LFS... I'm not the fastest but I do ok :tilt:

My settings are:

Max Steering Lock (in steering settings of individual car setups) 12 - 16 depending on the car and track combo (try even lower if you find it still too sensitive, I used to race at BLGP in GTi with Max Steering Lock of 9)
Analog Steer Smooth 0.6 (can experiment with even higher settings, but wouldn't go much higher as it would make catching slides too hard)
Remove Dead Zones Yes
Steer Centre Reduction 0.00 (think that is not in S2 now though, was in S1 can't remember for sure)
Wheel Turn 180
Wheel Turn Compensation 0.00
Throttle/Brake Cebtre Reduction 0.00

Hope that helps... :thumb: try the settings but give it some time before you make up your mind, cause it will take some getting used to, for me anyway I can get resonable precision from the xbox controller... wouldn't be as good as a wheel but wouldn't be far off either... the only draw-back I have with the xbox controller is it's hard to drive and type :D

Wheel turn compensation is basically the same as center steer reduction, but it's taking into account the turn rate of your wheel and of the car.

I don't have experience with a pad, but shouldn't you set the compensation as high as possible, to gain maximum precision around the center of the stick? With it set to 0, you have full sensitivity right at the center and I can't imagine this being good. Personally, I'd set it to 1.0 (full) and set the wheel turn rate to 180° for a maximum effect.

While that would do as you have stated it makes being precise at steering angles away from the centre position much more difficult... and I have found for overall consistentcy in lap times that it is better to stick with a linear profile rather than analog  the other settings help with centre sensitivity and as always wheather with a wheel or other controller it is practise, practise and more practise :x I can normally get to within 1-1.5 sec of the wr for most track car combos and be fairly consistent so these settings have served me well :tilt:
