The round 12 broadcast will be coming and season 1 is to air on television in Eastern Europe later this year. If it attracts enough punters watching then it's probable that there will be a season 2.
It had to have a break because of my own well being, which wasnt very well, and I had to decide if I wanted to do it at all and honestly I didnt so for a while it was slated, then I got talked around to at least try as its on the cusp of TV so from here we'll see.
I'll say this much, if I return to running a league it'll be like no other - if i'm going to do it then i'm going to carry on challenging conventions and experimenting just like I did the first time. :D *hatches evil plan*

That is exellent News Becky, good job.
Also about a DVD of the season is there going to be one? or is that still in a experimental/drafting stage?

Well at the moment season 2 is still vapourware. I can say that i'm putting serious thought into it. I'm not starting anything just yet though as I return to work next week after a 3 month break for my health, and I want to settle into that before I take on more projects.
Currently i've got an obligation to provide a number of shows for an Eastern European TV channel, STCC season 1 is currently likely to be what is broadcast but when I look back at the early shows I would much rather produce an all-new mini series than show some of those early shows.
In order to produce a new series I would need help, I am not going to repeat the same mistakes and burn myself out and so I would need fiercly motivated and mature people to run various aspects of the league and broadcast.
I need to develop some new software technology to make use of some of the new ideas and I want to fully develop all web, in-server, and broadcast tools before going live.
Attendance & Commitment is more important than performance to me, although i'm keen to place a Polish and a Korean driver in the series in order to generate more interest in target markets.
A few hints as to what i'm thinking here, teams wont get to run their own skin and sponsor decals without paying a licence fee and drivers will need to be available for web cam / audio interview.

great, so this means that you'll pay the drivers then for attending the races and also get a split of the royalites for the tv broadcast rights this sounds great :thumb:

now that's really an evil plan :D
keep going :thumb: this is really great, I loved to watch it. I still have the broadcasts on my Computer, and showing them my friends, who do not have any interest in racing games, sry racing simulations. But these stuff you made Becky was really impressive for them.
:scratchch there comes to my mind that Germany have a TV plattform which shows ESL and stuff like that. The formerly by NBC (yes this big company from the United States) owened, and now by Premiere (the biggest Pay-TV company in Germany) owened GIGA(.de). Maybe something for a far far future.

It was always the plan to distribute monies to the competitors too, there's something we dubbed the Airbus Agreement (like F1's Concorde Agreement - only cheaper) which splits and divides any money the STCC makes.
That's why the STCC is retaining control of the car liveries, so we can sell them later, whilst giving teams who want to sell sponsorship and run their own liveries the option to buy a licence to do so.
However I dont plan to be selling this form of advertising just yet, first the series needs to establish it's market. I just feel that introducing this regulation now solves one of the problems of the first season with constantly changing driver skins.
If anyone does want to buy a liverie for season 2 though, PM me :D

If Giga approached me though then I would certainly be keen to talk.

And rubbing some paint in the progress :D Good racing today Becky, as the server switched to Fern Bay, the racing got much tighter for me.

I love Fern Bay Club in hot hatches, but TBO's feel horribly unweildy around it - I guess it's just me geing out of practice but over the 500 odd metre track i'm over half a second off. I'm going to program instead.

Just a heads up for drivers who will want to be competing in season 2, existing STCC drivers who attended the last race of season 1 have an automatic right of entry, other STCC drivers will need to reapply under the qualification process. As per internal bulletin prior to the event.
When qualification opens Titanium licenced CTRA drivers will be automatically accepted into the series.
Platinum licenced drivers who wish to join the STCC will need to go through a qualification event, CTRA yellow flag ratio will be considered. Full CTRA licence lookup will be requested. Details for qualification events will be published nearer the time.
CTRA Single Seater and CTRA Bump & Jump licences are not applicable to the STCC.
I'm not yet sure when season 2 will be held, but we're talking a matter of months so if you want to join you've got plenty of notice to get the necessary licence level.
Additionally applicants should be over 18, i'm still mulling over details but i'm likely to ask for a £40 deposit or thereabouts that would be fully refunded if you attend all 6 rounds. This is because it really is important for a broadcast series to maintain consistency in driver attendance.
I'm very keen to see a Polish and a Korean driver in the series, special exemptions may apply.

24th April 2008, 09:59
i dont like the sound of making exeptions to polish and korean drivers, im not stupid i know why you are saying that, but it seemds to me you are willing to sacrifise the integrity of the leage to get drivers from certain nations
though i do see why you got the deposit idea and its not a bad one, and also the over 18 thing you had at least one under 18 driver last year and as far as i know he caused no problems, but again i can see the point

24th April 2008, 10:06
If the season is to be shown in Poland / Korea they WILL want a home driver. If a home driver has to be... encouraged to join then so be it.
james12s
24th April 2008, 10:09
yh i got the reason why but theres a difference between encouraging and getting one at whatever cost, thats how i read it but hey maybe i got the wrong end of the stick

24th April 2008, 10:30
lol i just dont know why but the idea doent make me feel good, its a 6th sence(sp) all be it a very rust one lol, but if it is just making small exceptions to encourage them in then i dont see why that would cause problems

Makes me wish i was a decent driver and had titanium or platnium but oh well.
This paying for skins stuff, i just want to get this cleard up.
Ok so say you make a design but use LFS sponsors (I guess you could flog off Bridgestone as a sponsers coz of the tires) But only use the sponsors already in LFS, would that still requir the cost? And the other option is a pre-determined skin that the selected drivers can use correct?
March Hare
24th April 2008, 12:03
Oh crap! I mean, great Becky!
Are there going to be broadcasts as before? I sure hope so!
I wish I could drive in the STCC but I'm already in the LXO league and I just haven't got the time for two leagues. Maybe next season. :D
About the broadcasts.
There are two things missing. During the race it would be nice to know the lap times and gaps between drivers.
james12s, did you even check the Polish or Korean drivers in the CTRA?
There are 102 Polish drivers registered. One is Titanium and several are Platinum.
Korea is more of a problem because there are only 10 registered drivers. But there is one with a Platimun license :)
Problem solved. If they want to participate that is.

It has nothing to do with the legitimacy of the sponsor decals, and everything to do with business. That's prime real estate, and in the future I fully intend to capitalise on it commercially.
Last seasons skin-mayhem of drivers decals and teams changing constantly will not be repeated, i'm doing a number of things to rectify this and bringing forward my plans for commercialising skins is a key part of the strategy to provide consistency for the viewer.
Unlike other leagues the STCC has always primarily been a broadcast before it is a league. We dont doctor the results, sporting integrity, or the racing - but everything else is fair game.
Regarding more relaxed entry for a Polish and Korean driver, well sorry, but the survival of the league depends on viewer figures in those countries. This sort of thing happens in real racing all the time too, so I didnt consider it an issue of sporting integrity or what have you.

Hi,
I would like to participate in the qulaifying event, if it is possible. Nice to see all the good things about the season 2!
A week ago (i don't know if it is a secret, but i don't think it is) I've PM-ed Becky about sponsorship in the new STCC season. Becky gave me a lot info about the possibilities. I'm owner of a corp, and our company is hardly thinking about advertising in STCC. I can't say more currently, because it isn't only my decision.
I hope everything will go as planned!

I've not yet started to refamiliarize on the TBO's cause I'm into 2 leagues that I'd like to finish in a high position and don't want to disturb my practice. I have been working on some changes to the format and some of the new software made some progress over the last weekend so there will be more news soon.
There's an internal post on the STCC forums for existing drivers, i'll get Victor to sort out a seperate STCC sub-forum around here and start posting some details soon.
