Hi, I run on Vista 32 and it installed itself fine just by plugging it in, the only problem is that the left pedal doesn't work. I've tried calibrating it numerous times with no results. When I inserted the disc that came with it it warned me that it might not work if I proceded, so I didn't.
I've been playing using the flappy paddles as accelerater and brake but it would be nice to be able to use the pedals again. Has anyone got any ideas? I have searched for solutions on google and on this forum and posting this seems like the best idea.

ignore that bs and install the drivers, the wheel isn't meant to work without them:tilt:

The thing is, that it does work! I've searched google and found two other instances of the same problem, so I think I'm waiting for microsoft to create one. Which, at this rate doesn't seem as if its going to happen. Any more ideas anybody?

You have a VERY VERY long wait then; Microsoft discontinued support for the Sidewinder Wheel YEARS ago!!!
Steps to follow:
Install drivers
Go to Control Panel/Game Controllers
Select the Wheel
Open Properties tab
Ensure that "report separate pedals" is checked.
Go to LFS
Options/Controls
Select Separate pedals
Calibrate & Adjust as necessary
Play!!!

Yeh, I did wonder about (the lack of) support. The wheel is very old, maybe 8+ years! I'll try the CD again sometime, Thanks for your help.

MartynP, it is seem a hardware problem to me. I used a Sw FFB wheel for few years, after first two year my pedals potentiometers malfunctioned. I replaced whole pedal unit with a new one.
Maybe it is a minor problem, my advice is;
- Remove pedal unit with a screw driver,
-Check the position of the pedals (to not to cry when assembly times come)
-Remove brake pedal or if you can do spray a contact cleaner to the potentiometer, while spraying move the pedal up-down, than let it dry.
-Install what ever you removed
-Check from, Start>Run>
type "joy.cpl" without "" signs. If you can see your wheel there with "OK" sign right side than its connected.
Open sidewinder's software and check all channels.
I hope it works, good luck.
PS.
If you need driver/dll etc. for sidewinder, just PM me or send mail.
ive had this problems countless times with my precision pro wheel, the solution to mine was to install the software BEFORE plugging in the pedals. now they work fine, although some tabs on the sidewinder setup menu crash.

Interesting to hear your problems Dac, a while back I just inserted the disc and installed the drivers and everything works perfectly now. Sorry, I should have given an update on that a while a go. The only issue is that I can't access the software that came with it but its only an issue not a problem so its all good.
Thanks for your responses everyone.
