How could I make a Counter for KM?

I tried various ideas but they didnt work, Sean told be to use Pythagoras but i didn't quite understand how that would work, i hope you can come up with an idea!

Excuse me, You use Pythagoras theorem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythagorean_theorem) to get the best results. You calcuate there currect X,Y against there last X,Y and then sqrt it. What i also told Nock44 on msn, Although he didnt seem to listen.
