Just wanted to know how many years, months you been playing the game.

I played back in S1 days, but brought S1 back in 11 Jun 2004:D then S2 when it came out. Nearly 4 years now :D

I was on the demo for about a year (before i registered to the forums)...but I don't play it like I do now. I got S2 November '07, followed by a G25 in December so all in all I've played about a year & a 1/2. Half a year properly though :D

Hmm...I was wondering - is there some way I could get the very first release of LFS? To see just how much it's changed over the years?
Someone must have it...

join date on forums != date you started playing lfsIt is the date you got your licence though, or if you're a "newbie" (I use that term loosely), the date your signed up with your demo account for the forums.

I thought LFS was at RSC forums first... I would've guessed that I downloaded LFS in late 2002 or early 2003 and lfsforum was launched later. Not 100% sure though :)

The earliest join dates are January 2003 because that was the first month you could register at lfs.net.

I'm just so cool that I don't even play S2.

I've already got my copy of S3. Scawen is also releasing early beta copies of S4 at the moment, but I hear Audi have been on his case because they reckon they owns the S4 name.

Tried the 1st demo, didn't like it, then at some point, did some rallycross for a few months on demo. Then came S1E which offered really cool sideways action with a keyboard, so i played that for a few months. Then in August 2005 this forum was released, RSC was painfully slow on my computer, being a fair bit more mature and open minded i completely fell for S2, finally bought S2 in April 2006 a few days before the U patch was released, with the BMW Sauber. So it took me about 4 years to be convinced that LFS is worth spending money on. :D

I played demo for ages, like 2 years, (:x) because I couldn't afford S2, thankfully my ex teammate arco helped me out and I finally got S2.
Although I wasted the first atleast 4-6mnths by just driving the xfg everywhere :tilt:

Now gratefully this new mad house i'm in has bant me from any FWD use ever.

So I think I've been playing S2 since early May 2006...

I wasn't around for .004 but in the grand scheme of things I've been around for about as long as anyone can be. I've seen the evolution of LFS and know just how far the tire physics (among other things) have come. :)

Hmm, I tried some really old demo on some pc gamer cd ... i prefered nfs back then =D Got the wheel with rbr.. then tried lfs.. applied for a demo league, and liked it... Then didnt play lfs too much till i got g25 last year... And then i got s2 licence in august 2007 .... I guess i didnt fall for lfs @ the beginning.. and @ the demo stage i really only liked rallycross... Oh and I drifted for awhile in demo =]
But only now did I begin to race on CTRA servers... so really on and off.. :P
I joined the forum quite some time later than I first tried lfs xD

Got S2 back in March last year after playing the demo for about 20 minutes, LFS really took my breath away with the online play (ahem racing). Now I've done 54,000 online miles :really: That is probably far too much in a year, especially as I am still useless :)

I discovered LfS about 3months before my join date and remember playing it with a PlayStation 2 controller via a usb convertor.

Then got S2 and joined the legendary team known as [BlitZ] (ask General Lee) and really enjoyed the game for 1 1/2 years and now have moved on to Forza 2, mainly for convenience.

Nowadays I have to force myself to not play as much though, because of exams. :( And then I'm going home for the summer, so I won't be able to play for over two months. That's going to hurt badly..

Actually, the join date displays what date you registered at lfs.net (which is necessary when purchasing a license), NOT when you first activated your forum account. If the latter was the case there wouldn't be any join dates prior to 2005.

May 2006 - my join date.

I spent a lot of time on demo, I was in love with the XFG. Then I started making textures because there was quite a bit of discussion on the forum at that time about texture size, with different people having a go at different things- Becky, Devil007, Tagforce, Honey, Taavi, ElectricWolf etc... I did a couple of small textures and it just went on from there. I thought the community gathered around LFS was awesome. Someone bought me a licence for the work I was doing (I haven't heard from him since, but I'm still very thankful). S2 was like stepping into a bigger world... was a bit confusing at first. I think it's the longest time I've spent on any single game.

Same as EKar, this is the longest time I've stuck with one game. Having a good community helps that a lot.

Discovered it years ago in early S1 alpha (about the time Gran Turismo 1 on the PS1 came out) but didn't do more than mess about for a few laps offline.

About 2 years ago I bought TOCA Race Driver 2 and a Logitech DFP to play it with and rememebered the LFS demo as I was thinking of other games to play. Now I can't play any other driving game as they just don't feel right.

That must have been a bug in the early stage of LFS because the wheel had no such problems when I first calibrated it about two years ago.

I saw LFS at some games dvd (released by gamestar or some sort of gamers' mag), it was on november 2003 i think, but when i saw live for speed, i thought it's just some shitty imitation of NFS which i was playing (i was 13 years old brainless). Then on 6th February 2006 i downloaded LFS, just for try. I had a crappy wheel (Trust NF340 Race Master), but i tested lfs with that wheel and got really impressed. I started drifting then, but with mouse because my wheel broke. I was playing it about one year on demo, on 6th of april 2007 i bought DFP (finally) and few days after (18th of april 2007) i bought an S2. So i play for over 2 years now.

Since...I don't remember the specific release when I started to play but it was way before S1 was released...way before LFS had the following it does now...back when LFS had a simple website black with a few screen shots and a link to the ZIP file...back before the 'new' logo existed...so since 2000-2001?

Edit: Now that I think about it...the first system I played it on was my Shuttle AK31A Rev. 3, Athlon T-Bird 1GHz, 512MB RAM, ATi Radeon 8500LELE...so that was back in Mid-2000? I guess the bottom line is I am a hardcore LFS fan who doesn't post on the forums very often. I probably still have an account on RSC and I know I still have my +v in the IRC channel :)

Same here...LFS to me is just something I play to relax...no killing people, no blowing stuff up or completely dominating the enemy...I usually just hot lap by myself and mess around off-line (hence my low miles on LFSWorld)...

I play other games but there's always room for LFS and it never gets 'boring', if i over do it I'll just loose interest for a while but I always come back to it...

There have been other threads about it's slow development...watching LFS for this long really does make you want more...I kind of wish the development was moving a wee bit faster...but who knows, they may have something big planned that we don't know about...at least that's what I keep telling myself, heh...

Are you sure? :smileypul

If I had to guess, there's nothing planned. There's nothing being done either it seems. :(

Oh, started with 0.04 or something..

.004K (might have been a different letter) was released in August, 2002. The earliest version I have is 0.1E, downloaded on October 7th, 2002.

I started playing the Demo about a year before my S2 purchse date.. I kept hearing talk about S2 comming out when it came time for me to buy it.. Soo I waited until I could pre-order S2 so I knew I'd get all the LFS content :thumb:

I played on a mouse for over 4+ years and just got a G25 about a month ago and can't be more pleased..

I just wish for more updates if they are or aren't doing anything.. Or look for some development help... I'd be happy to pay a little extra money to get the dev speed rolling with some type of goal set for S3 :(

Well I've only been here a short while but I feel sure I would have been here much longer had I known about LFS earlier. I'm a long-time racing fan, I watch F1, Indycar, A1 on TV, go to races when I can, also race Scalextric, and am also a keen online multiplayer gamer (Guild Wars etc.) and am on the internet every day for work so it's one of life's great mysteries that I only discovered LFS purely by chance, from a passing mention by someone in a Hattrick football forum a couple of months ago. Still I'm here now! :D

Since the first demo :)

Knew straight away the physics were something special and it has just got better and better.

Think the gfx engine and menus are overdue an overhaul but its probably the best value for money game ive ever come across

:thumb: keep it up devs

I played around with the demo for about a year, so, about 3 1/2 to 4 years. 98% offline tho, and only the last two years did I have a nice rig to run it on, it's entirely different when ya got a good rig with a nice LCD.

Looking at my license status from my LFS account, I bought S1 back on 23 Sep 2003. My main interest was the LX4 / LX6, since I owned a Caterham at the time, however I ended up liking the game overall (in spite of my complaints about S1 physics), and spent some time online. I bought S2 back on 23 Jun 2005. I'm not online as much as I was before, but I still like the game, and I'm curious as to what LFS will finally turn out to be by the time S3 is released.

Hrmm.. Not sure.. On and off for years. I think I was playing it back when the demo came out.. I think that was before S1?

Look at that.. July 03.. And this is my first post.. lol I guess the forum has been refreshed or something.

Long Live LiveForSpeed !!!
