I was wondering if there is any mass/weight difference between the man and woman player characters. Seems possible but I am not definitely sure. Can anyone confirm if the woman weighs less?

in garage, you can choose if driver is inside car or outside and depending on that, the weight of car changes...so if you check, they both weigh 70kg. but maybe what you dont know, and i also havent till few days ago, they sit differently in the car :)

nah i already knew about the field of view difference.......that aspect had to make me wonder if there is indeed a weight difference even if it is very miniscule. There has to be....

But that would make people driving with the woman model quicker and the devs wouldn't want that. :)

They used to be a different weight in S1 iirc, but in S2 they are the same weight. This was because lots of people were racing as women to gain an advantage.
Is there a FOV advantage with using the female? I've never noticed that.

if we got karts in LFS we could use the difference in posture of the male and female to change the weight distribution if our handling was wrong :D

they have always weight the same

For once, I agree with Tristan - I too think there was a weight difference back in S1 (and/or earlier).

I think that you should have to buy a special LFS scale, plug it into your computer, and weigh yourself, and then thats how much you would weigh in LFS :D

Then we would finally be able to win from lefty :D ;)

Actually I thought it'd be cool to implement your own face in game, but of course, the visor would have to be transparent. Real weight isnt such a great Idea, even though I'm 145lbs, 5'11'' so Im pretty skinny:shrug: Would be cool to have different player models, but arn't most pro race car drivers really fit?

Ya realy you dont see a 300 pound guy raeing indy cars most of the time do you. Most of them people are shot and skinny.
But it would be kool to input your face / and have other player types!

haha good point:D but they have it so much better than Jockeys or is it Jockies? for horse racing, they have to diet and they are incredibly skinny and usualy small. But getting back on track here... Does the driver position really change the way you drive? I know that left or right side does a little, but mostly cause of what your used to. I couldn't drive on the right side to save my life, just cause I've grown up in the USA. But I'm half aussie and ive been to Australia and sitting in shotgun just feels weird without a wheel infront of you:pillepall

Jimmy Kite is a Indy Car driver... the cockpits are cramped you kind of have to be small to just get in, along with all your clothing and gear. And those indy cars are so light the driver weight probably could make a difference:shrug:

NOTE: "SHOT". Do you see an 'R' in there? You made a typo in your post. I just thought I'd be annoying and piss you off about it :p .

If the woman has the same weight she should look chubby for the sake of realism !

I'm driving like a woman, but never noticed any advantages. ^^ :D :something

So, say me wich version, because on the S1 versions I've tried, both man and woman has the same weight of 70 Kg  .
edit : same for 0.2W

Just tried it in S1H, and it would appear I've been mistaken about this... With male or female in the car, the XFG weighs 1010kg. That means I've been motoring under a misaprehension throughout S1 in beleiving that those people who raced as women were doing so for reasons of mass.
In that case, seeing as Batterypark and myself (and I suspect many others) were wrong, why did so many male LFS drivers use female drivers? Is there another advantage I missed?

I think Scawen saw the possible exploitability of such realistic options very early and therefore removed them. I don't see how choosing a female driver wields any advantage, and as said earlier, the only difference is a slightly different seating position... nothing you couldn't recreate with a custom view.

IIRC they were different weights back in 0.2 or 0.1, so maybe people were using female then, and haven't changed :)

I recall the woman being lighter at one point thanks to topics about how it was being exploited to gain an advantage.
(SaM)
1st January 2006, 22:54
That was probably some suggestive psychology. :pillepall They thought the woman made them lighter so they raced faster.
I'm telling you, that's how many brains think! There's even a story of people that became very sick from a clean and healthy salad because they were told it was infected.

Ok, in game being a woman does give you more FOV. As a woman i can see the whole windshield wiper and a bit more, as a man it gets cutoff towards the end of the wiper. Doesnt matter though, could just press 6 when a man :D
tristancliffe

Apparently Ven it's not a different FOV, but a different 'camera' position (close, but not quite the same thing).
