Umm, yes, they were more visible earlier, but i don't know what's with all these unrelevant "improvements" anyway... :shrug:Not relevant to what?

I noticed the black line around the mirrors could vary, could be 2 pixels on the left and 3 on the right or whatever. To me it's a bug, so I fixed that and also realised the pixel examination for that could be used to improve the drop shadows on text - which now looks much cleaner. While examining the screen at pixel level I noticed the last two remaining non-antialiased things on the screen - the start lights and the steering gauge. It is unprofessional to leave two pixelated and ugly things sticking out when everything else is antialiased.

I'm trying to finish S2 and these are unfinished things. Please, don't complain when I spend a couple of hours making the interface look better. A couple of hours here and there do not delay the "important things" you are waiting for like parts breaking off which will take weeks. It's silly to grumble about small improvements that I just do as I come across them while cleaning up the code and fixing bugs in a compatible patch.

Whether the start lights should be a plain circle or a texture, is a valid comment but calling them unrelevant has no place here.

Dont listen them. You are doing absolutely good work and even the smallest improvement shows that LFS is in development. I like when patch is coming, because then i can enjoy and i like to live up-to-date.

Sorry, didn't mean to bash your work AT ALL, as you are doing an absolutely amazing job, i'm just slightly dissapointed with the content part of LFS (eric's work). As i understood, he's still photographing the GTR interiors, and i kinda expected them finished back in 2006 you know.. :shrug: not to mention what would new track meant for LFS community, just can't understand why those GTR interiors are taking that long, not to mention the other cars which by the sound of it, haven't been worked at, at all.... and then you see a changed texture to the virtual start lights (which, majority of people doesn't even use ;) ) so i felt slightly dissapointed, sorry about that, i know YOU are doing the best you can.. :thumbsup:

I'm trying to finish S2 and these are unfinished things. Please, don't complain when I spend a couple of hours making the interface look better. Understandably, in order for S2 to be finished, all this has to be taken care of. But please answer me this: with parts breaking off the car, like front wings etc - is it going to affect downforce? Is the deformation of the front in GTR cars gonna affect downforce or handling? The parts that fall off, are they gonna be able to puncture tires? If yes - great - happy coding. On the other hand, if it's gonna be there just to look pretty and to satisfy people who are into having acidents and crashing most of the time - then it is "unrelevant". The more urgent things should be stuff that actually affect the race like engine temperatures, brake temperatures, traction chaning off the ideal line, maybe wet conditions/dynamic weather and other things that lesser games like "GTR2" have for years now.

I appreciate that you don't want to code something if it's not going to be perfect, cause objectivley - most of the things in LFS are many levels better than in other games - but just to let you know: old LFS drivers, who have been with it from the start are quiting, losing motivation and the will to believe that "next patch is gonna bring something meaningfull". Y patch did bring many improvements, but most of the things basically stayed the same. Furthermore, I am aware that when a game is this far into development, it takes more coding to make small improvements than it took in the past to make huge leaps forward. But try to keep it in prospective with the upcoming patches. Everyone who's driving left me at "aw" when I was starting out - have quit now. Community has always been loyal to you, maybe even to the extent that there are too many "yes man" around who drool at every patch, but think about the old guys - if it weren't for them and their driving, LFS wouldn't be what it is today and I (many others too I guess) wouldn't have aspired to get better at it.

it should be considering those are the unshifted functions of those keys on the us layout

ill stick with stupid :p
as you see it causes no end of confusion all around the world (judging by a quick look at wiki at least half of the worlds layouts cram those hardly used symbols (with the possible exception of people who like to include everything and their grandmother) in the bottom left)
in the same way no one would call "3" on a us layout "@" even though he probably will use the key for @ a lot more and type numbers on the numblock

theres 2 good reasons
1) need to accomodate 3 extra letter keys (goes for a lot of aother language specific layouts as well)
2) seems much more reasonable to shift "." with ":" and "," with ";" to me

this z10 patch has been here for a long time... are the known bugs that hard to fix? i thought it might just take a week or so b4 the nxt patch woulda came out. apparently not. oh and ive got a request for u developers, can you stop the cars from flying wen hitting certain objects?Stop spamming this thread. This is not an offical patch it is a test patch. If you don't like it - don't use it, wait for the offical patch instead.
If you have a request that is not related to this test patch, post it in the proper forum.

My first post in this forum. I recently bought S1&2 after playing with the demo off and on. The patch installation was 'super' easy and I can now see more than just a hand-full of sessions. Still finding my way around LFS but it's great.

heyheyhey, im using z10 and i just cant find anymore bugs, theres just FZ5 locking up under abs, ive said so in another post sumwhere but there hasnt been another patch for about a month or so now, which didint happen with patch Y or even as old as X so im just wondering wat keeping them you know?

observing FZ5 locks up under ABS is my feedback so please, dont start rampaging on just 1 post.

Sry, can't read this topics anymore....
You all bought the game AS IT IS. Anything additionally you can see as a gift. When i bought S2, i got no FBM, no SO6, no updated BL....
LFS is a great game and i love Scawen for it even when the development progress is really slow... BUT he is already married :D . This is the next problem most of you don't see: he has a family so he has a active reallife with his kids and his wife. See it so that working on LFS takes a huge amount of time because there are only 2 (3) developers.
What i want to say: Simply wait for the Scirocco and don't spam!

So and now i installed Z10 Testpatch and i have no problems here ;) great work Scawen

None, and that's probably the reason: Now that everything works, all that's missing is the VW... And as Scawen hinted in the postpone-announcement, there is maybe a multilink-suspension in the works that has to be analysed and coded first...

IIRC they stopped for the Christmas period, Scawen left us with Z10 as a stable working test patch. I believe the issue is now the TC and SC in regards to the Scirocco. :)

Ahem, i think that if you read what is actually being posted, then you will see that it is a conversation about a possible bug that someone is encountering with Z10. He also mentioned that he did not have this problem with original patch Z, or any other game, which throws out my overheating gpu idea.

It seems like the best place to discuss it wouldn't you say?? :shrug:

Z10 works fine, no new bugs discovered...

The devs are tired of having a load of impatient, immature, angry little children moaning at them because when they do give us progress reports, said little spoilt children insist of ranting and moaning about said patch not being released/being delayed. So they don't bother anymore. And rightly so. We (the community) made our bed so we have to sleep in it. We can't expel these little whinging children from our ranks so as a whole we have to accept we'll lose progress reports because of them

To be honest, it's a car. :shrug: Maybe if it was a huge update I could see people being impatient. But it's not... Scawen said so.

Just wait and be patient, the car will come. I'd rather have a car that actually works than a buggy one. I want it also, I wouldn't mind it being here right now. But perfection takes time.

They did a wrong thing when they said that sirocco will come to LFS they did it to early because people are waiting and waiting after about 2 3 month it got boring to wait and people start to smap and as when is it coming they said on friday and then it got caneled againd... so its just not fair can you at least tell us the date now when should we expext beacuse it gets very anoying to chekck lfsforum lfsworld lfs.net for infor and when you see there is no.. ;/

and what happens if that date they suggest to you falls short and they run into problems.. that means its overdue 'again'.. and you will moan 'again' for it being late.

The biggest problem is the way how developers announce LFS news for community. For example - usually there was almost no information about new updates and patches, bet then, one day we got exact release date, and even a video. Now one month is gone, but we don't have any post from Scawen or other devs, where could be any description what is going on. So the way how community gets information is from one extremity to other - too much information or no information at all, how it is right now.

Is it so hard for develepors to post one message with any description what they are doing?

Finally, for the users - the best way is just to do something else, than posting 94769367593907873465 annoying messages about relase date. But IMO thats not only users fault, devs should change the way how they announces news to us.

i guess the crashes i was experiencing were due to high res texture packs or some other replaced files.. so it was a false alarm. i really should have used a fresh install for testing, duh. :schwitz:

No offense, but it'll get it here when it gets here. Just go do something else, wait for it. Then when the car gets here, you'll be excited and probably get bored of it quick.

I'd rather have a game that had perfection than flaws and awe's. Somethings in this life you'll find you have to wait for. It takes patient and determination to do some of them.

You wont make it too far in life, if you're impatient. The developers need to take breaks and get on with their life. They have other things to do then develop a game 24/7.

If they wanted to develop a game 24/7 this would be probably finished. Not to mention what impact it would have on the developers lives. I've seen many families split apart due to someone working too much. The developers probably stick to a scedhule. Wake up at this time, eat at this time, do chores/ around the house things this time, develop Live for speed this time, sleep at this time.

And if they wanted to be lazy and finish the game. This game would be plagued with bugs and there'd be a ton of complaining.

It sounds like you lost interest in LFS, to be honest you are either interested or not. A car shouldn't change it either way. Obviously LFS lacks what you need/call entertainment. And if you've lost interest in it... why are you posting here? Or are you interested and just said that hoping maybe the developers would read it and finish S3 immediately?

S3 will take sometime to get developed. And it isn't helping the developers to try and read through spam and see problems with Z10. If you want the car that bad, go buy a real one. Don't spam the thread in search of hope that the car will be developed.

Remember impatience never solves anything. It just makes you want it even more. So be patient and before you know it, it'll be here.

Maybe the problem with the Sirocco is that it represents a real life car you can buy. I imagine that VW are quite picky when it come to the dynamics of the car. In these litigious times, no car company would want to be held over a model that does not conform to the actual car. I can just see some half-wit wrapping their nice shiny new car around a lamp post and blaming it on a poor simulation that managed to take the corner.
Maybe I'm way off mark, but it would make sense.

That, IMO, isn't worth reporting. If everybody who had no problems posted saying so, Scawen would never find the bugs amongst the pages of "no problems, thanks". It's just not necessary.

GFX card has nothing to do with speed of loading the textures mate (if u have enough memory) even fastest pc will choke on such sizes... what if my textures are 10000x10000 in dds?! point is disable or change timeout limit and problems dissapear

Off topic: Don't use Vista!! Vista is heavy!! You need 2GB RAM if you want to save 1GB for computer in Vista!!!
Use WinXP, XP is light (it gets only 40MB of your RAM and runs on even the slowest of the computers.)

On Topic: When playing online, LFS sometimes suddenly crashes and sends me back to Windows. It does not happen only in Z10. It happens in normal Z too. It hadn't happened lately but in the final stages of 2008 it was happening a lot. Can someone explain what the hell is it?

XP isn't "bad". It's simple to use and so long as you're sensible with cleaning it, won't often go wrong unless you do something incredibily stupid.

Vista is for style over substance, XP is for the power user. Besides, with various skins (or Windows Blinds, ty Niall :)) you can get your XP looking exactly like Vista, apart from the "lets get all the taskbar icons into pictures on the screen and you can scroll round them in a floaty style.. thing" :D

I was thinking about it, when I was writing it. If you really want S2 (surprisingly, I bought mine last month), you will buy it, because you know, that LFS is one of the best racing simulators available. so you will know that scawen moved his hows and i think Reallife goes ahead gaming or ect.

actually,... THIS is his real life. he earns money with this, isn't he? of course, if he is moving to a new house, this will need some time!

but there are lot of these excuses the last 3-4 years with promises of a S2 final. none of this happend and the game is in an outdated status and will get more and more outdated every day when it comes to a state of the art factor.

the only reason why this game still rocks is the realistic physics and the easy and quick way to join races.

sooner or later they will just say: OK guys, there is no sense in developing this any further and all you guys will say thank you for the 5 or what so ever years for waiting on a FINAL RELEASE of a game you've already paid for.

some even paid for a S3 already... which is IMO kind of naive.

anyway i am not here spoiling this, as the game is still good, but those of you who still think santa is living in the north pole... WAKE UP ;)
