I agree about the scirocco, I get that it helps prove the physics if a real car with real values can handle like the real thing and turn similiar lap times AND I get that it can be a real help during real life testing (ie. uni. students involved with the fsae mrt project can get more testing time). But kinda breaks down if we aint got a real track, now I'll never get to drive monaco so really it's a "fantasy" track for me too.
What I'd really like is rain, night.

Well, try a fresh install of Z, test that again and update that one to Z13, maybe something in your LFS graphics settings got changed and you weren't aware. Also check out the shadows settings off/low res/high res. Improvements in the shadow quality might be effecting you FPS.
thx

Just wonder why they did not accept another offer from Skoda like a few years ago for a real car in game for free. Yeh I know it was just Skoda Octavia but better to start somewhere then nowhere. They postponed it becuase they wanted to focus on something else. Its all the time like that.
I know Scawen do great job but I bet he can do much better as Eric could as well.
Kindna offtopic the above from me but when I am hearing more and more from old hardcore players that things with LFS go slower and slower its really sad :-(.

from one side its good option, coz when devs informing when they rls patch forum going weird situations, from second side its really bad movement, because they can do weekly or monthly "to do list" and inform ppl what they maked by one month, without releasing a patch. But ppl then can see that devs working on lfs.

Yeh, it should be clean here I agree and added a piece of crap too but there must be something wrong from other side as well if people post these message a lot sometimes. Try to think about it as well. Lack of comunication is the worst thing which can happend - proved. No matter if its in game development like LFS where the comunication have been much better before then now or in business for example.
I was always so much impressed by what Scawen and whole team around LFS achieved. Kudos to them for that but the other thing which I am not really happy about how more and more the LFS is draw apart from the technicall progress in game industry. For example when LFS started with DX7 there was not much more around but now. The gap is getting bigger and bigger.
Should shut my mouth though:x
Keep LFS dev your good work but start adding something more...

mabe they can do a monthly poll or something about what people want them to work on. like instead of a new patch fixing, idk maybe a bug on the graphics, maybe people could vote to just keep working on the sciroco. or however you spell it

This really is the worst place to post. The devs donīt give us a date or a time where they think they gonna release it anymore because if they canīt for any reason, everyone starts moaning again with "Where is my Scirocco?! So please, please, please, stop posting unless you REALLY are sure that your problem is to do with the very latest patch (Z15 atm), as everything you post takes the release date for the next update further away, as Scawen will fix the bugs (or investigate all the BullShit ones) before he releases the updates

the game freezes for 5 seconds when the message in the attachment comes up
and when i hit the button to take an image (print screen).. lfs freeze for 3 seconds and after the freeze i have 5 fps for 1 second and then the fts goes up to my normal
im with windows 7 final and galaxy (nvidia) gf 9500 with intel D 2.8, ram 2 gb
never had that problem with older patchesJust noticed you say you use print screen and don't mention Ctrl+S (screenshot). Is this because you use enbSeries addon? That mod won't allow Ctrl+S and also pauses the game for 5 secs when you use PrtSc with enbSeries. Just thought I'd mention it because the symtoms look the same. Sorry if I am wrong.
AndroidXP
28th September 2009, 09:41
the Ctrl+S works but the images with it are with poor quality than with the PrtScHuh? Can you please post an example of this? Ctrl-S saves as bmp, which uses no compression and should therefore be 100% quality.

Lol messed up
i mean the image size is bigger but the quality the same and when i take a screen with ctrl+s is about 3.xx bytes and when i take it with prtscr is about 1.xx (2mb difference) bytes and its a lot of work when i take more than 1 screen and need to compress it to upload it in websites that the most have 2mb allowed image space. The image in the attachment is 1.85 mb with prtscr and with control+s is 3.75 that i CANT upload it here (needs compress)
AndroidXP
28th September 2009, 10:19
Yeah, but that's because with PrtScr you paste it into an image editing program and save it as PNG, which uses lossless compression resulting in a smaller filesize without quality loss. When posting stuff on the web you should use JPEG anyway, since the file size will be smaller by an order of magnitude compared to PNG. The only exception for that is simple graphics (few colours used and large areas having the same colour) and/or pictures where the quality is of utmost importance.

This is going way offtopic, but:
1. It's kind of your fault if you are using something other than the built-in feature (Ctrl+S)
2. Don't use PNGs for LFS screenshots, they are huge. The example you posted is almost 2MB which is massive. You should use JPG instead. That image would probably go down to 200KB or something and the quality loss would be almost invisible.
3. There are batch converters for images availabe which can compress the whole folder of images with a few clicks. I prefer IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com/).

Sad panda is sad, VWS w/out new tyre physics would be a treat for all before it gets boring w/the new physics, let us get bored of it with the old so when every cars new....
Make sense? Yes it does! Very much sense that it'd be a HUGE change in LFS, then the new tyre physics would be even more amazing whenever launched.
I'm tired and bored of all the current LFS cars, with new tyre phy they'd be nice because the handling is horribly unrealistic sometimes (XRT w/mouse I can HARDLY control, yet I can XRR no prob and XRG) people say mouse is faster, well I'm pretty damn good at mouse though I don't do real "racing" on LFS I find XRT just burns up tires, etc.

Should be in the Improvement Suggestions forum.
As ever, the problem with that is that you've finished changing gear by the time the animation would even reach the shifter as it can't predict when you're going to change gear.
TDU compensates by reaching down when it thinks you're going to change, which can look weird as it's often wrong and reaches down for no reason. Other times when you shift and it's not expecting it, it doesn't move at all.
Personally I'd prefer it not to be there at all as it will always look unnatural, but I'm sure others would disagree with me ;)

I'm not understanding the importance of all of these minor things every patch fixes. 99% of the time they never had an influence on the quality of the game.
30 test patches, very nit picky and pointless - skip to the real updates.
Sorry, post seems crude, but I doubt i'm alone in what i say. Please understand.

that's your problem
you don't have to download/test them ,just wait for the finished patch
now scawen can tackle one problem at the time an progress quicker

Oh so you prefer all the major updates are released nao and your game goes to a black screen when you open it? :really:
Sounds like fun.
My definition of now seems to be completely different from yours. I understand that working on this game isn't easy, at all. I'm also unaware if it's just the three core devs working on it or multiple parties.
Either way, i'm in no position to completely complain. But I am in position to give feedback as a player in this community.
Based from what i've seen in the past years with LFS, development is an extremely long process. I don't even expect new tracks to release unless they are gapped years apart from each other.
-Tire physics are coming (hopefully noticeable results)
-New track is coming
-New car is coming (hopefully)
Those are all positive outcomes of a 6 year development process.
Hopefully the gap between time/product shortens as the months roll by.
-This is not a flame.
-This is a comment contributing feedback based on observation
-Respond with a bit of respect plz, we're all playing the same game here, let's make it worth our time

This a feedback thread. Keep up with the pace and read each post.
Also; Today there seemed to be a problem with the throttle actually working for all the drivers on Aston- Cadet rev, T1. Drivers would go to the turn and complain that their throttle would drop off, and continue as normal soon after. Anyone got anything?

No,it's a test patch thread, the title says it all.
You can report things going wrong about the test patches and nothing more.
Your thoughts,if constructive, should be posted elsewhere.

If we don't get these, as you call them "pointless" patches, you end up with NFS:Shift for PC. Sure it looks pretty but the physics are busted to hell...
These small updates are so that when a big update DOES come around, all the foundations for it are strong, and LFS can continue to be the high quality production it always has been.
/end rant.

:iagree:
Thats the whole point of test patches, to test them, and if there are bugs then there will be more test patches to overcome these bugs, plus i would guess that the coding in the test patches we are recieving now have many adjustments (as opposed to original patch Z) which we can't see yet that are needed in order to incorporate things like the new tyre model into LFS.
You can't re-write major components of the sim such as a tyre model or maybe even the damage system and drop it into the existing game without adjusting anything else and expect it to work, coz it just won't.

What about adding an odometer in all road cars, like in RAC?
Then I noticed that ABS and TCS don't work below a certain speed (in TCS you can adjust that speed), while in real cars usually these systems can work even at really low speeds (4-5 Km/h). Cold you adjust these values for both systems?

When time is ready
But as we wait for the big one, it's good with all these little patches too. They might not look that much of a change if you look on them as soli additions, but overall they do make a change. It's all those little things that makes out the big one :)

Nothing wrong with saying that, but I think the thing that slows them down now is the car/track additions, aka Eric :)
No offence to him, and it's a good amount of work to do, but I think that's where it slows down atm.

I think he is, but using this thread for small fixes/improvements and adding new features for testing on all other systems. Also finding bugs alot faster and easier.
