Probably XRR cuz its a good challenge, from WR's it can keep up and I love XRs in general lol ALL OF THEM.

dougie-lampkin
9th March 2008, 21:15
I'll be using good 'ol beginner's reliable FXR :D

EDIT: This track is hell for tyres...Just to reach 1:36 territory, my front R3 tyres last 2 laps before going bright red on the outside...Is anybody else going to use R4s?

GTR_Yuni
9th March 2008, 22:02
If you can't get your tyres to last even ten laps, you're pushing far too hard.

dougie-lampkin

R4s last 10 laps, so I'll just do the required pit half way through

Pit stalls will be assigned by championship position. First in championship will get stall #1, P2, #2.

If I may give my opinion here I think this will end in total chaos.

How are you supposed to know the right pit box when you are for example 15th in the championship? Drive to the first pit box, drive back again and count the pit boxes while doing that?

+2.

Just go to the one that's furthest down the pit lane. (or any - it doesnt really matter!)

Stop as far down the pit lane as possible is the norm in other leagues i believe.

Just curious because I have never driven this car or track, is it not possible to do 20 laps straight? If it is, why is the pit stop required? It seems like the driver should be rewarded if he doesn't abuse the tires.

Because it's an 'endurance' round.

Yes - I'm sure it's possible to do 20 laps, but we wanted a round with a pit stop.

/me slaps forehead.

I did the pitbox assignments thing thinking that there were garage numbers above each stall like at the other tracks.

grrrrrr.

So, ignore the bit about pitbox assignmetns. GO to the furthest one down.

And ohbytheway, do NOT drive through more than two pitboxes on your way to your pit.

dougie-lampkin

And ohbytheway, do NOT drive through more than two pitboxes on your way to your pit.

ROFL /me can see someone driving the length of the pit boxes...it's bound to happen

And I don't think anyone could last 20 laps on the one set of tyres, and without a good deal of fuel (50% I'd say), in FXR at least...

I'll be using R4's on the front ffs :D

NO!!! Then the FXR loses all of it's advantage off the line! :schwitz:

+2 The FXR does seem rather quick off the line. I always thought it was me imagining it because I was hearing the turbo pressure building up :D

evilpimp
10th March 2008, 18:17
I think it should be rolling start so that the cars r more equal at start.

dougie-lampkin
10th March 2008, 18:18
But that's the main point for taking the FXR. Otherwise the FZR will just catch up later...

evilpimp
10th March 2008, 18:20
Seeing the WR's their pretty equal in a start were they take the straight full speed meaning that FXR will take the lead at the start and keep it since their equal. Rolling start would make it more fair.

JO53PHS

But It will be fair anyway, because the people who are using the FXR will be the slow people :)

lol FXR with FFB ain't pretty :(

evilpimp

J@tko
10th March 2008, 18:44
Well FXR is easier to drive so u should get a fast time easier then the FZR users anyways...

But it's not easy to drive quickly.

And it burns its tyres quicker.

evilpimp
10th March 2008, 18:55
But it's not easy to drive quickly.
Its easier to drive consistently then a FZR which will have the back lose grip every once in a while due to its AWD.

And it burns its tyres quicker.
Its also easier to control with hot tires then a FZR which will simply spin if the tires get too hot.

dougie-lampkin
10th March 2008, 22:28
It might be easier to control, but it'll burn the tyres twice as quick. So by the time the FZR's tyres become uncontrollable, the FXR will be in a similar position...

I've finally got around to finishing reading the rules, and I was wrongly penalised in Round 3 for chat during qualifying. The rules say that first offence is a warning, but I received a 5-spot grid penalty. In fact, you're not supposed to receive a 4 spot penalty until the 3rd repeat offence.

So, I lost out on a good few positions then. I even appealed it, but I was told I was wrong...Not going anywhere with this, I just mention it as I saw it...

TAYLOR-MANIA
10th March 2008, 22:34
I think the rules were changed after Round 3, so that's why Dougie.
There were a few who chatted during the last race who should be getting penalized.

My throttle control is too poor for those beefy RWDs so i'll be using the FXR :)

Grrrr :(

FXR should be popular though, the 4WD through corners is a nice reassurance that after a Scandinavian Flick I'm not gonna end up in the grandstand :D

What sort of times are people putting in? I think my PB is currently 1:35-ish, I'd say I can get into the 1:34s though :scratchch

evilpimp
11th March 2008, 02:51

GTR_Yuni

Sticking to my roots in the XR GTR, of course, because the FXO and FZ GTR only require going reckless.

dougie-lampkin
11th March 2008, 11:38
I can't drive the FZR because I use 900 degrees rotation :schwitz:

The slightest touch of oversteer means me grabbing wildly at the wheel, which on a weak wooden desk is NOT good...ATM it wobbles and shakes when I drive the UF1 :D

Fredthebest
11th March 2008, 20:08
FXR all the way! :D

evilpimp
11th March 2008, 21:43
Should definetly be rolling start. Plus we have to spread the racers at the start cuz 3 wide at the T1 is going to be chaos for sure. NO DOUPT.

Rolling start will make it fair for everyone and also make us get less crashes.

TAYLOR-MANIA
11th March 2008, 23:35
:smileypul You reckon?

Surely by now the large majority of us should have learnt from the previous rounds, and how to cope in the first corner.
We managed okay in past rounds (with open-wheelers too) & there's plenty of run-off at Westhill Reverse T1 to escape any trouble.
I doubt there will be as much trouble as anticipated. I bet it will be the fast linking corners where people will try to pass & fail that will cause more problems throughout the race...

And do I need to mention what will happen behind the SC during the rolling start? Oh I do?
Okay - irregular SC speeds causing chain reactions throughout the field, subsequently cars will be hitting the car infront or darting to the side to avoid the car infront...then passing, re-passing & others trying to block that pass...erm, what else? Oh yeah, big gaps between the cars that will split the field into two or more groups...eradicating the theory that a rolling start will make it more fair.

You should sense my opinion on making this into a rolling start.
But whatever, it's up to Deko I guess...

Stan
12th March 2008, 00:42
Taylor makes a valid point about the rolling start.

It will just take one mid pack car to open up a gap, and that will pretty much ruin the race for every car behind them.

evilpimp
12th March 2008, 01:34
You realise your aloud to pass if someone is far from the pack and going slow O_O

But yeh I guess... iono... Standing start will give a dissadvantage to the RWD's...

*Edit* Whatever... I'll just use the FXR probably.

It's not really T1 safety that seems to be the concern here. Instead it is loosing a few measly metres when the lights go green. 20 laps with a pitstop...really, does a few metres make that much difference in a race 30 minutes long? I don't think so.

We're not doing it to even out the starts of the cars. It's cos:

Most endurance races start with a rolling start.
Cars will be more spread out coming into turn one.
