No such view possible in the game. Wearing something on your head that makes it feel like a helmet is your answer ;)

I believe Fonnybone made a 'simcap' or something, heheh was funny.

That's the sort of post I'd expect from Lautsprecher. Don't lower yourself to his level mate.

Good idea IMO. Maybe they could add heat exhaustion too! :D

I know it was low, but I really think wearing an actual helmet while playing is the best way to achieve the in-helmet view :)

Agreed. I'm sure it would also be an excellent conversation starter at parties.

I feel that I should point out that original poster is not insane, GP4 has this feature: http://archive.gamespy.com/asp/image.asp?platform=PC&image=/reviews/october02/gp4/3.jpg

Oh my god, put it away!
Sorry, that's my opinion of the GT4-screenshot. :)

It looks nothing like looking out of a helmet :pillepall

The best way to simulate the slightly smaller vertical view you get from wearing one without putting one on is to run in widescreen like in GPL. But when you are wearing a helmet you can still see as much as you see in LFS, because no one races with their head kept still as though it was bolted onto their car/kart.

the GP4 screenshot is silly, u cant see that much of the helmet, only the visor sticker at the very top of your vision, and i use a narrow aperature helmet. your focus is so far into the distance while u are driving so u cant actually SEE any parts of the helmet unless u focus close, if u know what i mean.

I did a post about this exact same idea back in May:

the only bits i see of my helmet are the sides my far periphery and the very top of my vision.

If you have a helmet which you can see quite a bit of when you are racing. . . . . you need a new helmet.

If you want the feeling of looking through plastic, just wrap cling film around your face :thumb:

Well that last time I used a helmet was when I went four wheel'n or atv'ing for some of you folks. I didnt even notice the visor, or in that matter the grubby goggles shielding my eyes from mud:D What is that called with the different focusing? like when you focus things up close farther distant objects go blurry and when you focus on farther distance objects close up goes blurry, just like while driving:thumb: Also annoying with camramen dont focus their lense correctly and you get dizzy trying to make out the fuzzy blurry object your looking at :pillepall

Kegetys has always wanted to make a Carmageddon mod for LFS. :D

I only know of some helmet camera views like in the Champ Car Series.... but for LFS, I dunno, it could be possible that someone could make a mod probably to have some helmet 'overlay'. Besides that, however it is done, it would be neat. But other than GP4 or whatever, I have not seen it in any other game.

Ahhh, here it is ! Keep in mind that at the time we were discussing
having an option to force cockpit view...

Of course, it's a joke, but you can make it yourself nonetheless ;)

The only 'problems' is that the dash and wheels don't show up in the
cockpit, but behind it and that the whole 'cockpit' turns with your head.
I made this following all the 'forced cockpit view' discussions a while back.
My main argument against was that it was in no way more realistic and
actually reduces visibility unrealisticly. You can't look around the a-pillar
with the cockpit view as we would in real life. That's when i got the idea
for the carhat :smileypul
