What!? and have the left hand know what the right hand's doing?! Are you maaad?? ;)
We don't yet have full information, though obviously it would be nice for all of us if we did. We'd originally planned to announce the series comfortably in time for people to clear slots in their calendars and get signed up, but not so far ahead of the start date that the impetus/momentum wouldn't carry through as we brought information about the series into the public domain. Sadly, since announcing, there have been a few NEW delays with the website and other structural details that are likely to push back our start date a tiny bit.
Because we're operating to connect with/into a much larger series' structure, it's important that once we do start, we continue without hindrance, so the current situation exists really because we're making sure we're lining up our ducks properly. Once we're go, it's "go go go!". In the meantime, it's a case of "hurry up and wait!".
So we humbly apologise for the lack of info right now.. as soon as we can, we'll land everything you need to know right in your lap. :)

Thanks Sam.
Might be an idea to hold off annoucing anything untill such a time that everything has been tied up, still smacks of unorganisation to me, something you shouldn't really expect from a "premium" league.
I had hoped this may re-ignite my LFS flame, but it's just more frustration trying to find info on that god awfull esports site..........

Yeah Sorry Dan I should have made a mention that we don't know all the information yet ourselves and that this post was just a way to raise awareness of the league launching for this season.
To be fair on Joe he's been putting in some long hours, there have been days he's not even gone home for the night but hopefully soon there will be information on his site for the UK division.

So, it seems that the plan is to start in a little over a week from now. Do you intend to actively advertise the league this time around? I remember that last time there were only a small handful interested, and I personally PM'ed about 50 British members of this board, so I'm still quite sceptical about numbers this time around.
I don't really want to sign up myself until I see a few other names on the list, but obviously if everyone is doing that then there won't ever be any. However, I don't really want to risk paying to race against 3 or 4 other people every other week, and I'm sure there are others who share that mindset.
Edit: Also, according to esport-racing.com, the first race is on April 1st. The opening post of this thread states April 4th as the date of the first race.

This is no more or less than any other ETM league. What more can be done?
Season 1 flunked because of various things, and it wasn't because it wasn't promoted. It wasn't until last week the site was able to support signups and accept paypal as an example. Something that wasn't brought up as a problem until people tried to sign up for season 1.
Sorry for the date mixup, I am dyslexic and the USA reads month, then day for some stupid reason...

Only thing more that can be done on organization side is a little news article on the site about UK/IRE eTM signups and brief description again. What I have done here was to talk and explain everything about it in our forums and to anyone who I thought might be interested, and started with that long time ago. Everybody thought it's a great and appealing idea as a whole even if it wasn't personally for them, many others surely didn't like the idea of having to pay, but we managed to gathered 11 interested drivers for our first time, and few more that would but just couldn't participate due to other commitments.
This whole system was known more than 6 months ago, it's still the same and same for every national league. Surely many UK people already know everything about it, and except repeating the same things don't know else can be done. Fee is so small even by our lower standards here, and for you is pocket change. Methods of payment could be easily overcame by simple favor from a friend, eg. ask someone you know with a card. Here we usually don't have them but everybody knows someone who does, it's so simple I feel stupid having to explain it. The goal and purpose of different levels of eTMs (and racing GTRs in the first place) is surely not for everyone, but I can't believe you UK people cannot gather even a portion of the people we managed to gather from Balkan countries and much smaller community.
Josh, be brave and start the signup, someone has to be the first. :)
People shouldn't feel bad about low numbers either. 9 we had is still enough for a race, and atmosphere and sportsmanship in the first BeTM race was actually much better than in leagues with big grid full of bad drivers tbh (and that don't know eachother). People are also happier that chances of scoring points and advancing to relegation are pretty high as well. :) I'm also happier as an admin since entrance fee is a very nice filter of those who are committed to the league from <insert favorite bad word>, and less incidents to deal with.
Oh and nobody really drives for the prizes anyway. Real prize and motivator is advancement to big league, or have fun trying and improving, or just have fun racing. Really it started very nice in BeTM, and can be same for you in UK/IRE.

One thing you might do is mention it to people like Gentlefoot and others with already fairly large circles of influence. Develop a network of word of mouth if you don't want to do a big advertising campaign.
Promo videos help too.

I have not talked to Sam or Joe yet, but that was an option that went into my head =)
Over the weekend I will have a chat with Joe to look at more options to fill the grid a little.
DWB: I agree 100% but the level of commitment for UKCT was never meant to be that great. The CTRA takes a good majority of our free time and then some.
DeadWolfBones
28th March 2008, 20:02
I don't think I mentioned UKCT at all...
All I mean is, if you know someone like GF (just for example) who basically has a pulpit to address a large number of drivers (a large percentage of whom are British) it might be a good idea to strike a deal for cross-promotion. Whether it's a full-on partnership or him just agreeing to suggest to his drivers that they check the series out, every little bit helps.

Right here is the situation...
With limited numbers, and with 1/2 the grid being filled within the last couple hours we would like to delay the the start of the season by another week. This will mean a more condensed season, but hopefully more drivers will sign up before they lose the opportunity to race all the events.
We don't want to do this though if the drivers already signed up don't want to wait, so nows your chance to let us know what you guys would prefer =)

UKCT will be happy to host a server for participants to practice in, if you guys want (and if you don't already have a place to go).
I would personally prefer to postpone for a week, since there seems to be a bit of momentum now. I would hate to lose signers-up because they haven't got a shot at a full season-worth of points. Rather get a grid, if possible.. it's better for everybody.

So what actually is the cut off for numbers?
are you just going to race with the 5 or 6 drivers that have signed up or will you have a 'only goes ahead' with more than 15 signups - and if you don't get the numbers to run it - people get a refund  that may help you sway the un-decided to partake..

This is the discussion at the moment, Dru. We're considering pushing back the start another week, to allow later entrants. We're fielding the feelings, primarily, of those who have already signed up and inviting anyone who feels they may be able to commit in the next week to speak up, too.
We'll have to make a decision by tomorrow lunchtime. So far most people who've expressed feelings on it seem happy to postpone.

Aww heck, I'll sign up officialy tomorrow but count the 'Moving Chicane' in (me:schwitz:).
Just so I'm clear is it any GTR class car or just the one model. I know about the auto clutch and forced cockpit view, a week give's me time to create a sub-standard skin and get practise in, if it's any class then I have a decent skin ready to go.

The league is going ahead regardless of how many drivers have signed on, it's a great opportunity, and the drivers who have paid have realized this. This has been the impression Joe has given me and I am willing to put the time in for the drivers that have committed. It's just a matter of WHEN we start to get as many people as possible in the league before the green flag drops.
Ok, lets flip this around.....
live streaming - does not affect the driver taking part
Commentary - does not affect the driver taking part
Some of the fastest LFS drivers - point taken - but this is just gonna lessen the sign up..... for instance if well known 'alein' drivers are entered that have a known pedigree in this class of racing are fast and consistant and do not crash, then why do the other drivers think they might actually stand a chance...
This league will just be like hour stints of an enduro race, there are one or two known drivers who if they entered (or weren't competing elsewhere) would clean up..
So the reason people should sign up is because there are fast drivers entered - well lots of other leagues have these drivers involved (and other fast drivers or clean drivers) were people don't have to pay to race..
how many leagues do you know where people drop out over the season as they realise they will not win?? i bet it's load's and that leagues that you don't even have to pay to enter in the first place..
What makes BTCC, F1, WTCC, A1GP, NASCAR, WRC, ALMS, and CORR so interesting? Some series are better than others but they are highly rated not because every driver is top notch, but because of coverage it receives. And because of this coverage virtually every driver in the world wants to run one of these series.
What's special about BTCC? Nothing really, they just have great coverage on TV, same goes with NASCAR. The general caliber of driver is higher, but then real racing has been around for what, a 100 years? Sim racing has been around in organized for for less than a 10th of that.
the same could be said for people that run in club racing. The majority of them could not win a race, never mind a season, but they still pay their entrance fee's and membership duties every year.
It' not just about winning, it's about being part of something that is exciting and having a group of fun people around you that you get to know on an intimate level when racing that cannot be found in any pick-up races. Having a laugh and slapping each others back and comparing war stories from the race before and letting people know what your excited about with the next race.
Is the RACING going to be much different than any other league running GTR's? Possibly not, but for some drivers you will see them push themselves beyond normal limits when they know that their name will be thrown around and there are significant prizes available to those who put the extra distance in and perform better than anyone else.
What will be different is all the things you stated in your post and IMO those are kickass =) There can only be so many leagues and races held before one league looks like another, post production and live streaming is what holds this league above anyone else.

I've signed up. I still stand by my decision to pull out of the international eTM last year. I had way too many personal commitments that were taking up my time. I really shouldn't have entered in the first place.
Now I have some free time I'm happy to spend some of it LFSing. :)

I think it is because their own etm broke down or something

Well not desperation, we had free slots, and they wanted to compete so we let them race. When the grid becomes full of UK/IRE drivers they will have to find somewhere else to drive.

Sorry, I am not being precise enough.
Because there were less than 22 UK/IRE drivers before the season start they were allowed to enter, this was decided shortly before signups closed so we knew we had enough room for them. Next season, when/if the numbers increase they will not be allowed to enter into the UK division and will have to enter into a different division, and they should be already aware of this.
If we do fill the grid throughout the season, they will be allowed to finish. They have precidence over any driver entering midway through a season and will only be asked to leave after the championship season has been run.

Since Ant's involvement in the series is precisely nothing, he can be as insulted as he wants. It means exactly nothing to the series. We're not kicking out the Dutch or the Irish from the UK Nationals in any act of deference to anyone, and most especially someone as uninvolved as Ant.
Rdcranno
25th April 2008, 12:46
Well IMO its good that we were able to get some dutch drivers involved. If you remember at the start Ant, we had to move Round 1 forward a week as their was little interest. Its a shame that the majority of racers on this forum are British, yet we still struggled to fill the grid. I'm still on the Messy bandwagon and wish him all the best with the series. Maybe next year when i feel more confident and have a better spec machine i will be able to enter.

As someone who was only persuaded at the last second to join up I'd like to say to others that haven't joined up to pull their fingers out and do it!
It has all the makings of a great series. It seems daft that with all the good drivers we have and the organisation going into this that we end up with less people on the grid than a nKPro race!
Come on you Brits (and Irish and err...Dutch :P) Lets fill this grid up a bit.

 I am with Sam, there is nothing wrong with it IMO. The main reason for having the National championships was to break it down into regions so have a few drivers in that couldn't be fit into another series if fine by me.
