it would be cool if the replays could be controlled like the replays were in driver1 for playstation1 (best replay controls ive ever seen in any racing/driving game to date)

This has been discussed many times before and you have to be a little more specific on exactly what you want. Not every one as played driver 1 on ps1 so you need to explain them.

Indeed it has been discussed before. The way it works is, the replays are based on the physics calculations or something and cannot be rewound or anything. I can't remember exactly how it works, but basically I think what we've got is what we've got. It can't be rewound or anything because LFS doesn't know where the car was, only where it is now.

Discussed many times before, but now there is good time to do it, coz all replays wont be valid after physics patch, so never mind if format of replays will be modified.
Scawen said that this can be done by adding "keyframes" (state variables) for example each 10s.
We need this for league events when judging accidents. In endu races, there is problem..
Excuse my english

Variable keyframes... From every frame to once every X frames. So that if we want we can get a very large, but very accurate replay file if we want.

Well we should be happy that we have what we have now, totally free camera modes etc... for example in GTL you don't even have proper option to save replays.

It's fine the way it is now ... except if you're in race longer than 3 laps and you need to view an incident, or clip out an awesome passing manouevre (which is a lot more important than some silly prang imho :)) I don't envy the guys who have to F3 through a 50 lap race to find an incident that's a few seconds long, but go too far and have to go all the way through again :zombie: It's bad enough when it's only a 5 lapper.
The keyframe idea is a good one, and a nice compromise between the way it is now and the frame-by-frame accuracy of sims like GPL and other Papy titles. It'd would life easier for the movie-makers too.
edit: wow, 100 posts .. still haven't said anything :D

Currentley it is a bit daft to have to spend so long getting to a place in a long replay, then only to not quite see what happened on the one chance you get to watch something, could car positions be saved frame by frame for a few seconds after you start a small recording of an incident, then these few seconds could be replayed?
I know LFS is different from others, but 7 years ago GPL had a magic 'rewind' button so it does seem a bit of a step back, although if it's impossible to solve then thats life

GPL was ahead of its time and is just hitting its stride ;) It also has a frame advance button (forward and reverse) and you can splice out any length replay you like. Might not be feasible in LFS but it would be nice to at least be able to go backwards in some way..
