ALL PEOPLE THAT HAVE CONFIRMED THAT THEY ARE COMING, PLEASE PM ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS SO I HAVE A TIDY CONTACTS LIST THAT I CAN TICK OFF WHEN I RECEIVE YOUR DEPOSITS!!!!

THANKYOU

Hi Guys,

Well after the T7R party we had back in July, people have seen the movies, and pictures, and are quiet taken back that 1 game can bring so many people together in 1 place, from all different countries. So again, I am going to test the water :)

With the help of some other UK LFS'ers, they have thought up this totally awesome idea. Below is the initial planes. Please post ur comments and also, if you are ABLE to attend to the ( hopefully ) biggest LFS meet in the UK, and also, the Developers, come meet and greet the UK drivers of your awesome sim :) ( see I said sim, not game :) )

The location of the track is st. james industrial estate, Northampton, right near the train station.

The idea is to have a 1.5 hour endurance, with team mates from LFS being team mates in real life, (Although this is very dependable on who can come, we will acommendate everybody, as we don't just want this to be a LFS Team event ) The winner, fastest lap, second and third places will receive trophies, and the winner will receive a special live for speed karting trophy. The event will have to be booked, but provisionally it would be good for the middle to end of October, depending on when everyone is available.

Around 20 people would be best for the event, 10 teams on track at once.

www.gpkarting.com (http://www.gpkarting.com/)

Hopefully we can have prizes like a 2005 Live For Speed UK Karting Champion trophy, and a little awards ceremony too, for a laugh.

After we can go to swifty’s house and play LFS and generally drink to much, or a pub and chat and generally drink too much.

Now I will be there for one, as the T7R party has really given me an insite to meet and greet fellow LFS Racers, old and new, and also, I hope that other fellow LFS drivers will be there also.

More details will follow as soon as we get a rough number of people that "can" attend.

Thanks for reading, and hopefully will meet all you nice people 1 day :)

Best Regards

Fordie

I'm definitely up for it. Just tell me when!

Who from vMax can make it as my team mate? :P

Fordman

I already have my team m8 ear marked, but its close to a few t7R members, so as per usual, expect a T7R onslaught :)

2 hour drive from home (Norwich) or 2 and a half from Uxbridge (uni), so no excuses ;)

Hay Tristan, you could always drive to mine, and then I take us there, and we stay over :)

Also, others from Norfolk, or who are on way, give me a shout.

hey if the devs came, we should pay for them, since they are legends.

if the dev team didnt get a good kart, im sure scawen could play with the physics a little. :p

Don't be a wuss. I'm from Portsmouth and live in Newcastle, that's a long drive. Anyway, I'm moving back down South in a couple of weeks, if someone can pick me up I'll pay half the fuel. Would be cheaper than me getting the train anyway. If there's three or more of us we can have a party in the car on the way as well. Awesome. :D

This seems like a good idea, maybe bringing us one step closer to the LFS Convention that Tristan and I seem to keep dreaming about.

£120 for a team.... how many people to a team??

And, I might have a problem on the old team front, there's only two of us this side of the channel.

Do they make deals if you book a whole charter plane as one group? :scratchch

Although if we crashed LFS would lose too many adepts! :tombstone :tombstone :tombstone :tombstone

I'd come to this. Although I ain't that well known and I'm not in a team. But I only live a few miles away, and having been involved in LFS since the first week of the very first demo, I'd like to get involved, get to meet the Devs if they turn up, and some fellow LFSers, and of course, get drunk. :)

I could get my brother to join me as a two man team . . .

Yes, yes they do. It ain't cheap though. As a bonus, I could be the pilot. I am licensed and I work cheap.

2 Hour drive is too long for this???? Are you NUTS? I used to commute that far every day (each way... up hill... in the snow...:really: ). You can't even get half way across the state in two hours. It takes 5 just to go visit my sister, and you don't even leave the state, or the west coast for that matter and it is due East of here.:nana:

Sounds like a good idea. Too bad I used up my vacation time going to that silly ALMS race. :D

danowat
16th August 2005, 08:41
Yep, I'd be up for that, just say when and I'll be there, not sure I am "go-karting" material but I'll have a bash non-the-less.

If anyone would need a lift on the Diss-Northampton route, then I would be glad to pile a few peeps into the torque monster ;).

Dan.

ayrton senna 87
16th August 2005, 09:10
well, as there is a limited number of spaces, we will probably only have 1 or 2 teams of people without LFS teams as fordman is being selfish and want to bring 2 T7R teams!

so bob smith and the other guy, im sure we can pair you up with someone, either an odd number from another team, or a guy without an LFS team all together.

There are 2 per team, it means its more expensive than say 3 per team, but hey, you get more time in the seat. If any teams did want 3 (for some reason) then that wouldnt be a problem

They arent the fastest karts, but it should be a good laugh!

ayrton senna 87

Hey, Ayrton just sent me a PM to tell me about this.

It sounds like a great idea and depending on the dates etc I should be able to catch the train down.

Senna is making a trip up there today to find out dates. He is also going to find a travel lodge or something simular for people that require to stay over.

As said in the first post, it will be mid Oct to Late October, depending on when they could accomendate us.

He is also going to get a definate price with regards to how many people want to attend.

I noticed somebody up there said "I would come, but not well known in LFS"? And your excuse is, sorry? Whether you are well known or not, you know LFS, so you are here for the same reasons us more well known people are here

Sure, but my cars only a 2-seater. I use one (obviously), James MIGHT use the other (thats two), so you'd have to go in the boot. Or on James' lap (not comfy for 2 hours to N'hampton).

If James doesn't go then feel free to claim the seat (unless my gf goes, in which case she has priority, and she'll be my grid-girl too :D)

ITS PROVISONALLY BOOKED - 22ND OCTOBER :thumb:

Now we need to make payments, deposits etc etc. Now how would u all want to do this. I will just like to add, you can trust me, I won't take the money and run.
Anyone confirmed that they can go will have to send a deposit of £30 each to me.The deposit is 50%, so 25% per driver for each team.

The total cost for a team is £120 like i said before.

I have been told, there is an Ibis hotel very near, which we can take people to see, its on the left as u come out of the train station, and a little over a T junction towards the town centre. It is about 1/2 a mile from GP Karting.

Now I can setup a paypal Account if people wish, but its totally up to you all.

We have done the hard work for you, its now down to you all

Regards

all race gear is provided, but u would be advised to bring your own kit if you have any, its always nicer to have your own stuff, and you can be identified a little easier :)

Any helmet is fine, as long as your eyes are protected.

Yes angry angel lol.

Tristan was late for racing on sun, so i had to polish my helmet for ages because it got dirty in the open :/

To spectate is free, although u will spend lots in the cafe they have there :p

Bob Smith
16th August 2005, 15:45
OK. I've an open face helmet, will that do?

Travel expenses: bah, £37 for a return train ticket. I'm trying to get my friend (the other UK based MRNL member) to join in, he is keen but cost is an issue. That'd be £74 for the both of us. Neither of us have cars yet so is there any chance of us getting a lift? I'm sure petrol is cheaper!

He lives in Portsmouth and so will I in a couple of weeks (although that could change if I get a placement... but ignoring that for now).

We could train part of the way if required.

ayrton senna 87
16th August 2005, 15:47

22nd October!

/me writes in PDA Calender.

I will be in Uxbridge that weekend. I'm assuming that my gf won't want to come to a kart track to be chatted up by 30+ computer/racing geeks like me, so that leaves me with ONE spare seat. I don't mind who it is, but I don't really want to go much further than Reading to pick them up. Uxbridge tube station (Metropolitan line) would be better.

So, if you want a lift from me, argue it amonst yourselves.

Racing kit (helmets, balaclavas etc) ARE provided, but if you have kit use it, so that we can be 100% there is enough to go round, and your own helmets will fit you better and be safer than a slightly mistreated, standard sized, 5 year old helmet. Same goes for suits and gloves. Trainers are a must (or thin soled shoes).

Going back to lifts, if anyone wanted from abroad wanted to come, I am happy to pick them up from Heathrow on the day (or the day before and make it a few days here). I must also add that as I write this I am hoping Kirves will read it and start booking flights. Go on Kirves. Team mates, MRT S1 Noobs together. Good times and bad. Surely we DESERVE to meet now...

Nah, get on ya bike, you could cycle it in a day. I don't know where in Hampshire you live mind, but it's ~120 miles from Portsmouth and I've cycled 80 in a day before. Your legs might turn to jelly though so have plenty of rests. :)

Alternatively, if you're feeling uber fit, you could dig a canal, fill it with water and swim there. Although of course you wouldn't need to, since having dug the canal you'd already be there. Ahem.

Seriously, could you not get a coach? It's like the train, only slower and less comfortable, but it does cost less. Oh, but unlike trains, they are more prone to getting lost.

tristancliffe
16th August 2005, 21:08
And they have a habit of having smelly people on board too. Of course, you might (and I stress might) be one of the smelly ones that other people object to, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Fordman
16th August 2005, 23:14
OK what we have here is a over subscribed event. Now this has to be a first come 1st serve basis now.

I know everybody want to attend and wants to race, but we are limited to 10 teams( due to track size )

If you want 3 per team, then we will leave this totally up to you, as 1 it will cost you per driver less, but, also your track time will be less, so this is totally up to you.

Teams - I want to make this totally clear. You don't have to race in a team to join this event. This event is open to anybody from anywhere that wants to meet fellow LFS Racers. We are all here for the same reason, and like the T7R party I had, we chatted about experiences and fun we had, and generally had a good laugh.

As soon as the deposits have been reached, then we will say so here, and also if anybody drops out, then we will also publish this also.

Any Questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. You should have my contact details by now.

Kind Regards

Shaun

To wrap all these threads into 1, here is the details.

Date ----> Saturday 22nd October ( 1 week before my 30th Birthday )
Time-----> 3pm started. U will need to be there by 2pm
Venue---> st. james industrial estate, Northampton, right near the train station

Cost----> £120 per team. Now if you have 2 drivers that £60 per driver, but if you have 3, then obviously thats less per driver, but also that less on track time.

Where to Stay

Now we have sourced 2 places to say that is close to the Karting track and swiftys.

https://www.travelodge.co.uk/make_a_booking/availability.php?hotel_id=159&travelodge=Northampton+Upton+Way&doa_dd=22&doa_mm=10-2005&stay_len=1&no_of_rooms=1&corp_id=0&rate_plan=&agent_type=&agent_code=&x=105&y=16

This is £21 per night, and approx a few miles away

http://www.ibishotel.com/ibis/fichehotel/gb/ibi/3657/fiche_hotel.shtml

This is £40 per night, and is 5mins away via Taxi

The plan, so far. Is meet up, have a chat about what ever we wish. Then race it our in karts. Get our trophies and then head back to swifty's for lfs, some beer and a few laughs and order pizza. Then head on over to hotel bar for a few more drinks and some more discussions.

until we finally give up.

Now we have suggested 2 payment methods but if you all think of a better way, let me know :)

Now all we need is to get definate Names and deposits.

You will need to book ur hotel room.

Regards

Shaun

As the places are limited, I could "dip out" of the driving, maybe someone a touch younger and of slighter frame would be better suited to it ;).

That said, I would still be interested in making the trip, be it for commentater/camera or cheerleader, and of course meeting our LFS brethren.

Also, I would be happy to provide transport (free of course) for anyone from either Norwich/Norfolk, or any where along the route, Thetford, Newmarket, Cambridge, Huntingdon, Kettering etc, etc.

Ok well im waiting on P1lot just to comfirm a few things, but what i can tell you is that we will race as a team, under what name haven't got a clue, its not for me to say dE or not, so could you put us down as one of the 10 teams, under dE and we're go from there, but also maybe sort out a reserve team, just incase we can only come up for the meet itself and not able to race, so someone doesn't miss out on a chance, it might be worth having a couple of reserve teams..or drivers.

As for the time of the meet, i wasn't on about the race itself, what i was suggesting was can we not arrange a place, say from 09.00hrs so if you feel you want to come up for the day as well, we can meet there, reason being, alot of us have distance to cover to get there, and to beable to go for the whole day and meet up and have fun before racing starts, is appealing as well...do you get my meaning now?

I'll pop a cheque in the post to you tomorrow Fordie.

Afterwards, I'm easy. As long as we all have a laugh, I don't mind if we go to a pub, or sit in a carpark (though the latter option will see us beaten up in the dodgy parts of N'hampton).

The more cameras we can get, and the more footage from different corners the better. Also, an onboard camera would be ACE. I have an adaptor for a roll-hoop in a car, but I doubt this'd fit onto a kart. Will, if you can get me some dimensions of a suitabel mounting point, then I can easily make a camera adaptor. No hacksaw jokes either...

yea tristan i was just designing a mounting point for the camera, but as i no longer have access to a lathe or vertical mill, ill send the drawings to u once they are done.

i was thinking maybe attatch one to peoples lids, the owners wont mind, we used to drive round holding the camera in one hand, so aslong as its securely fitted... maybe to the drivers chest, or to the rear of the sidepod, like this (http://www.kart-tv.com/video.html) set of onboard pro-kart (rental kart :p) videos.

Take a trip to a local school :) Opps sry, dont do that anymore

OK couple of things. If you are driving please can you post here and approx location so that people that are not driving, could get a lift, and then possibly you could PM people if you are staying, or coming home same day etc etc.

I have said already that I am from Norfolk, as well as Tristan and Danowat also, so anybody here is OK. Although just found out, I might have a car full already. Three Jump and BBO from T7R have reg interest in flying over from Germany for this meeting. Now thats Dedication :) Also, I did warn you, T7R never come alone :)

Payment.

I will send out my address and telephone numbers ( Yes I trust you evil lot :) ) to the people that have confirmed in the next couple of days. I just want to check, check and double check everything is in place before I start begging for your money.

Teams

I have been swamped by PM's and emails asking about the team situation and the following questions:

I do not race in a team, can I still come
I don't have a team m8, sorry I cannot come
Can I race on my own?
I am not well known so I won't come.

Well this needs clearing up a little. Whether you race in a team, on your own or just brought LFS, what ever, your situation, the fact remains, that you play the same game we do and this is the sole reason for the get together. To meet people in true form that you race online, day in day out.

Racing in your Team is a great idea, and some will work, but for others, its impossible ( due to geographical locations etc etc )

Everybody is welcome. If you pay your deposit then you have booked your karting Seat, plain and simple. We are allowed 10 teams on track. Whether this is 2 drivers per team, or 3, thats up to you, but more drivers = less track time, so please think about this.

For people that are either not in a team, or come on there own, don't worry, you will be paried up with somebody.

This is an Enduro Race, so driver changes are required, just like the ESL Enduro League, so this is very close to LFS.

The cost is £120 per TEAM not driver. Its £60 per driver if 2 of you are in a team, or £40 per driver if 3 of you are in a team. Although I have booked my place already, and I very happy to switch around to accomdate others, and I am just happy to be at such an event :)

Well I hope this clears things up a little. If not then please feel free to PM, Email, MSN me.

Regards

Shaun

PS - And please remember the sole reason for the meeting is to have some fun away from your TFT screens :)

ok guys, one (awkward :p ) guy has asked for us to provide those who are coming from afar a place to meet early, to make more of a day of saturday, so do u have any suggestions (if u are one of these people who want to come early, or just have a good idea) of where 40+ people can meet up before the event?

We need a place where all these people can chill out (without alchol) and not outstay our welcome.

he was looking at arriving at 9, so we need some sort of venue that we can stay in from 9am until 2pm... any ideas?

tristancliffe
18th August 2005, 00:56
Maybe it's late, but I didn't understand that.

So I'll translate.

Bascially, some people will be arriving early, so we need somewhere we can chill out (without alcohol) beforehand as a group. Ideally this will be a free place, as it's gonna cost enough money as it is. Any suggestions where we could go.

Will (Senna) knows the area, so he can check out any ideas you guys have. Perhaps a nice pub (but NO drinking alcohol before hand if driving), a cafe, a park (with rides), or something like that. Even a free conference centre of suchlike, but that's likely to start costing money...

ayrton senna 87

ayrton senna 87
18th August 2005, 01:29
yea true, i will have to look around for a big pub, im fairly sure how many are driving at the moment, but the influx of spectators could bump up the numbers a bit.

:( Oh well I tried. The hotel cannot offer any discount as they don't do group / corporate bookings.

They are pretty busy that weekend, so I guess you need to start booking your hotel Rooms.

Their Number is 01604 608900 and its the Ibis.

Also there is the Travel Lodge - http://www.theaa.com/hotels/27068.html
This is 2miles from karting Track, so Taxi will be couple of pounds.

Also this one - http://www.theaa.com/hotels/2189.html Best Western. Only 1.9miles away, and same average price range.

And for the Devs - http://www.theaa.com/hotels/2197.html Marriot Hotel. LOL

Bah, in that case we can kick him to the back of the grid for having an advantage.

I'll continue looking at onboard cameras later tonight. You need a light camera really,so we'd have to look at buying one, unless anyone HERE has a camera suitable for helmet mounting. If so, PM me.

Angry Angel, any chance you'll be able to film driver interviews pre and post race. If we also to replay analysis, we (Fordie and Me at least) can make a LFS-TV Style programme, much like the F1 ITV coverage (only with James 'I'm an idiot' Allen, and Jim 'I don't understand motor-racing' Rosental).

I'd like to pay a visit to the UK and take part in the race. :)

With so many people interested, would it be possible to make teams of three drivers and increase the race length? At our karting event in germany we did this several times and it worked out quite well.

Fordman
18th August 2005, 15:58
With so much interest ( has really surprised me honestly ) and now possibly 3 drivers flying over from Germany ( Three Jump, BBO and GP4Flo ) I think we need to look into this Will?

Raise it to 2 hrs and extend teams to 3? Price difference is 2 hr race - £160.00 per team.

So if we had 3 drivers per team, that would make it £53.33 per driver, instead of the £60 atm?

Each driver would get 45mins of driving this way?

Whats your thoughts

Shaun

dUmAsS
18th August 2005, 16:03

I'm up for a longer race. As the event has been moved forwards in time a few hours, this leaves more room later for extra laps...

Can we do this, and if so what extra costs are we looking at?

Anyone found cheating (i.e. testing, practicing etc) since 4 days ago onwards will be slapped until they can't see straight, spun around 25 times, then let out on the track on a mini-moto. If they can lap under 20 seconds they race, if not, they don't :P :D

You'd probably find wooden legs of sufficient strength weighed more than flesh and bone. Unless you use balsa wood.
I'll bring, instead of a hacksaw, a wood saw. And a hacksaw...

its not so much forgeting that we are racing real, its more remembering that we arent playing LFS :)

karting is alot more agressive than LFS, as tristan will probably tell u. he seemed to get into the spirit of it, the way he was overtaking some people was very risky hehe :p

Hi All,

OK lets calm this thread down a little here shall we. I have requested that people drop me a PM ( who are confirmed and are coming ) and only 3 people have done that so far? :really:

I am waiting confirmation from gp karting that we can extend to 2hrs as they had to get back to me on this.

So we have 2 outstanding issues atm.

1 ----> People has said, yes I am confirmed and not yet PM'd me your
email address.

2 ----> Will has to find a place to house us all before hand. I had a look on
the internet and there is a Wetherspoons, but does seem a little
walk away? Will whats that pub at the end of the road, near the
traffic Lights?

I will put a nice reminder on the first thread :)

Shaun

tristancliffe
19th August 2005, 09:47
PM's. I suspect I didn't need to, what with me being one of the original starters of this event, and the fact we talk regularly on MSN, but perhaps it'll set an example for others...

P1lot
19th August 2005, 10:08
Given the projected number of people, I can see the awkwardness of finding somewhere to meet up before hand. What about something general like a park? Plenty of space (and hopefully plenty of car spaces) and we can have a kick about or something.

Fordman
19th August 2005, 11:17
Good Idea P1lot. Kick about? kick about with what, a rodent :Kick_Can_ LOL

tristancliffe
19th August 2005, 12:36
I'm up for the park option. Has anyone nearby got a football we can use? I'm not a big fan of football, but a kick about with LFSers sounds fun.

A Wetherspoons is also a good idea.

As long as we know how and when to get to the track, then we don't ALL have to stick together. Some can lounge in a park, others can sit in a pub, whilst others still can harass old ladies etc.

the_angry_angel
19th August 2005, 12:42
Sounds like a plan. Perhaps nearer the time we should exchange phone numbers as well, so that we can actually find each other if we're lost!

ayrton senna 87

im loving the park idea, i hope tristan doesnt get injured

yea theres a park right near the track, maybe i can try to remember where it is. theres also a park in abbington, which is quite a trek, but its quality, its got swings and slides and a wooden train and everything!!! :D

i doubt many people would be able to find abbington park, due to northamptons crap traffic arrangements, so maybe we could meet at GP and drive in a convoy/race to the park.

EDIT : Idea, i can draw or find a map for everyone to have, taking GP karting as the starting point, then everyone will know how to get to the park. im sure anyone on the train could hitch a lift or get a taxi there.

Theres a pub right near the park called 'The Abbington' which is a big pub and maybe we can all grab a bite to eat.

theres also a lovely spoons called 'The Moon on the Square' in the town centre, litterally 2 mins walk from the Ibis Hotel, maybe we could buy a few beverages from there after the race.

would u rather have 1 big trophy to share between team mates and receive the standard trophies from GP, or would u rather have 2 smaller trophies and the standard prizes from GP? This is the winners trophy btw.

Seriously, if we DO have a kickabout, or some other park activity, then it's probably best if we ALL agree to go easy on the drivers a bit, because injuring them (or me) would mean a massively wasted day for that person.

Just a thought. I'm crap at football (and I mean REALLY crap), so injuring me will provide no extra scoring opportunities :P

hi,

a few weeks ago i made the track we are visiting on autocorss editor. The track is a bit too narrow...

here it is

also, i was looking through the karting photos today and i notice that me and tristan have been 'infected' by LFS somehow? I was told that these names were following us for the whole event. Its a mystery!

Perhaps mention 'UK' in there somewhere?

If everyone finds their way to the park (or whatever we agree), I'm sure there will be plenty of space in peoples cars to take those without transport to the track.

Bob Smith
19th August 2005, 21:19
Ah thanks for the track Will, will give the MRT5 a go around there later, get a feel for it.

Edit: Ah bloody hell, those turns are tight! I tried the LX4 first and had to make three point turns. Even in the MRT5 I had to put the steering lock up from normal. Now a question - what way am I supposed to go, blue or green? (see attached image)

tristancliffe
19th August 2005, 22:10
Green. Blue is the pitlane.

ayrton senna 87
19th August 2005, 22:13
yea im not very happy with how narrow it is in that mid section, although the 1st turn is pretty good i think, what do u think tristan?

whats your best time so far? doing it in the UF is fun too!

PS i have 2 28cm trophies ordered for the winners of the event, aswell as the 6 normal trophies for all the top 3 positions. although it seems that everyone going to this event will be winners!

tristancliffe
19th August 2005, 22:29
I think it's quite inaccurate really. Sorry.

The chicaney bit on the straight is further away from T1. I know, cos I hit it, and it was a big long slide before I made contact.
T2 (the long sweeper) is a longer corner I think. You could get the karts really sideways scrubbing off speed for the apex of 3.
The whole track should be a touch wider, based on the MRT's extra dimensions over a kart.

Not a BAD effort, but not quite accurate enough.

Having said that, as a tool to learn the track I guess it's okay. I haven't actually driven it yet (at the time of writing), so I have no idea how quick I'll be. I've only looked at it in Shift-U mode. When I drive it, I'll report back...

Bob Smith
19th August 2005, 22:32
Best time attached. I'm soo close to getting a 19.xx though. Just got to get a bit smoother.

Edit: I agree Tristan that the track does feel very narrow. A lot of the track would be single file in MRT5s.

the_angry_angel
19th August 2005, 23:18
I had a bash, to see what I'm going to be missing out on - good god thats narrow. Is it to scale, or just roughly done?

ayrton senna 87
19th August 2005, 23:24
yea its not to scale, its too narrow, it was my first ever attempt at making a track, and i didnt have the track infront of me at the time i made it.

it was just to give u an idea of where the corners go tho, that was my main intention, so people dont spend the practise session learning which corner comes next, instead of getting faster.

Nice one matey ;).

ok I will put up a server later for this track so we can all practice online together. Will post the name later =)

tristancliffe
21st August 2005, 15:42
Okay, this has gone quiet in the recent past.

Basically, we haven't forgotten (as if!), but we are now trying to sort of the specifics, as the grand scheme is in place.

The itinery for the day (where to go and when) will be heavily influenced by the weather. The best laid plans of mice and men....

We want to be able to record On-Board footage during the event. Maybe even from two cars. However, this is not proving easy to work out. We'd need a wireless camera, a receiver, and some way of recording that footage. Quality doesn't need to be perfect, but I'd hope it was better than a camera-phone. Does anyone here have experience with this sort of thing, or a desire to learn about it. There are proper helmet mounting camera kits for about £150, but to be honest I'd rather spend less.

Where people are staying (hotels, friends or relatives who live nearby etc) are to be sorted out by yourselves. But I am proposing to go back on the Sunday with Will to the kart track to take part in the Open GP there. It's first come - first server basically, so that might be fun. I guess it depends how much money we have in the end...

So anyway, Will, Fordman and I are still making progress, and are at the details stages now. I think there will be a big edit of the first post in the next couple of days to keep everyone 100% up-to-date.

See you there :P

ayrton senna 87
21st August 2005, 15:54
yea tristan open GP sounds good fun, i propose that we go to Whilton Mill to watch some 2 stroke karting to kill a little time then we can get back in time for 3pm. maybe a few others might want to come before we say goodbye :)

_Rob_
21st August 2005, 17:53
Not certain if I can come atm, but going to try and find out asap. If I do, I'll bring my miniDV cam along, can get >1 hour footage on that, will find some way of attatching it to the kart (tape?) :p

Why I may not be able to come is that 22nd is in the middle of 1/2 term holiday, when we may be going away (possibly USA again, not sure (no ideas yet really))

ayrton senna 87
21st August 2005, 17:58
if u are coming along rob, then that would be great!

duct tape works a treat!

The Weekend

what we are looking at doing is meeting in the park starting from 9am until about 12, then going to a pub to have a bite to eat, have a good laugh then get off to the track for about 2pm.

when we arrive we take some photos, make some videos, get suited up and just generally chat! Then the racing begins.....!

With all of the prize giving, safety breifing, practise, quali and 1.5 hour race, i estimate that we will be finished by around 6:30pm-7pm.

we then thought we could order a few pizzas from dominoes to line our stomaches for the night ahead! ;) at about 9pm, after we have got our selfs a little more presentable, we go off to the pubs, and thats where our memories of the night shall end :)

those guys with hotels go back there, maybe to the hotel bar.

the day after the night before, we say bye to the guys who are leaving, and if anyone is staying for the Open GP we either go off to Whilton, go down the park, or just sleep in for a few hours.

i think thats the day pretty much planned, apart from the fact where we eat the Dominoes pizzas... swifty kindly said his house is free for us all, but i think that 30 or 40 people may be a little too many.

any ideas guys?

the_angry_angel
21st August 2005, 19:27
Good plan, so far  and kudos to you guys for taking it all by the reins and sorting it all :Handshake

As soon as I know I'm going to actually driving to the event, I'll be offering passenger space - but not until then (about 22nd sept I'll know for sure). However, if anyone wants space to kip down for the night, I'll be booking my room for the hotel soon and I'll make sure theres plenty of space for floor or sofa, for whatever (just incase) :)
