I did some calc.exe:
My LFS usually uses about 30 KB/s
30KB*60s= 1,8MB
1,8MB*60min.= 108MB
Why do you want to know this?

So after 8 GB. They shut off your net? that's crap. I used to have 1GB per month, then it would be set down to Isdn-speed. Was still playable, just needed to shut down me pirate'n software :P

']My LFS usually uses about 30 KB/sAre you sure? 30 KB per second sounds like a LOT!
Are you sure it's not kbits per second? If so then your estimate is 8 times too large.
Or are you talking about a host, not a guest?

Scawen is right, many people have only half that bandwidth available on the upload. I can tell you from experience that LFS is pretty tidy with bandwidth usage. If running a host you can check the options when you create a game to see how many Kb/sec each client uses. Whether running a server or joining one you can use this information to get an idea of how much bandwidth is required. Unless you are leeching the bowels out of your 8gig, I think you'll squeeze plenty of LFS into it.
Maybe download a free bandwidth monitor and do a two hour test? I think you'll be happy with the possibilities. Remember if you run a server your upload bandwidth will be the main bottleneck, this has nothing to do with your 8gig cap, it is the speed that data can upload using your Internet connection, basically. (sorry if you already understand this, just being clear) ;)

Hang on, theres some confusion - are you talking server or client usage?

A friend of mine also has a download limit of around 8gb per month.
The 'friendly' people here at videotron (Quebec, Canada) won't cut
or limit the connection whatsoever, they'll simply charge outrageous
rates for everything above that limit. My friend got a huge bill and then
realised he hadn't read his contract ... It gave me an opportunity
to tease him about all his 'free' music downloads....i guess it wasn't so
'free' after all now was it ;) Too bad the true artists are still the ones
getting screwed and aren't getting the money they rightfully deserve.

well, for it to run smoothly, i have to lower my total download speed in Utorrent by about 30 KB/s, so i just assumed that LFS used aprox. that.

OT: The music industry screws way, way more money out of musicians than filesharing does. The public are only just starting to see a taste of how the big labels like to do business, but musicians have known what a bunch of utter ******** they are for years.

I play a lot (usually 2-3 hours a day)
and here are my stats for lfs.exe:
lfs.exe
Month Download (Bytes) | Upload (Bytes)
November 104 793 117 | 42 525 169
December 105 813 613 | 46 984 421
Total 210 606 730 | 89 509 590
That is very small number for my hours of playing....lfs take almost nothing from my connection.

it really depends on how many people are in the server to how much data is being sent..
on my server when its just a single person in the server im uploading and downloading less than 1kb each way.. but when i get a full house (9 ppl) im hittin round the 20-25kb UL 10-15kb DL

Last night friend told me that this game use 1,5 kb/s.
1,5 * 60(sec) = 90 kb/min * 60(min) = 5400 kb/h
10 ppl on the server
hmm:scratchch

I have a 1.5 gb download limit 256/64 kbits.. :D :tilt:
I don't play LFS every day, but i never go beyond the limit, and that includes some Movies pit downloads, and other stuff.. so 8 gb will do JUST FINE.. :)
For me, LFS takes aproximatelly 10 mb's for one hour..

Or you have a QoS capable router...
Anyway, LFS uses as client almost nothing in bandwidth. So you can play a lot in a month without fearing the limit. ;) maybe all in all 2-3 KByte/s. 120KByte/min, ~7-9 MByte per hour.
lets say 2hours a day (Which is fecking lot), that'll make with some safety margin 600MByte/month.
