Well, after the chaos and carnage of Fern Bay Rallycross, it's time to play with the UF and XF Baby-Rs at Fern Bay Green.
Race length: 14 Laps
Cars: UF-BR; XF-JR
The UF-BR is UFR w/ 45%
The XF-JR is XFR w/ 43%.
The Race Director will be collecting setups post-race to ensure accordance with the rules for this round.
Please PM dekojester with your car choice. You may hold off until the beginning of Free Practice 3. Please check back soon for Free Practice times and dates.

This should be fun :)
What is the 43-45%...Intake restriction or ballast weight?
Also not that it matters, I'm just being inquisitive... but what does JR mean? Is it JuniorR? And what is the R? Restricted maybe?
Wasn't it Jack & Joe who actually made the base setups for the two cars? They would've done plenty of testing & practice I think, so maybe they'll be the ones to stop MistaTea's winning ways this round! :D

43% + 45% intake restriction
XF-JR= XF Junior R.
and yes, we did create the XF-JR :)
The UF-BR setup is here (http://www.lfsforum.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=46403&d=1199435046).

We didn't test on this combo (FE Green), but I've just had a couple of laps, and they're really close - almost the same time.

I don't know what happened in the first rally race as I've wiped it from my memory (I was driving really bad.... sorry!). But I did watch the race 2 replay several times.
In defense of juuretis, his driving on the one green lap he was racing in was fairly clean and he made several good passes.
First, he was hit by TG44. Later, the LFS medical car was driving backwards on the course and hit him head on. He didn't complain about either of those incidents (I would have!). The only thing he did wrong in the race was speed through a caution area (clipping a medical car) and pass under yellow (which other people were doing as well). He asked if his race was over when he flipped the car on its side and race control said "yes". I think people saw him flipped over the entire race and assumed he was causing chaos (based on his pre-race shenanigans :)) but really I don't think he did anything too bad (in that race) compared to the other incidents on the track.

The UF-BR is a widely used car in LFS (CTRA, UFOC). It's not that slow - has around 100 bhp, but is so light and runs on slicks that it's quick around the bends. We made the XF-JR as fast as it.

Ha. Well what do you say now then MrT after the +5 gridspot penalty? :) Think you could win it?
When I first read it [the +5 gridspot penalty] I thought it was kinda harsh, but actually chatting during the race only added to the chaos of R2.
People where typing 'Why did you crash me?', 'When is the safety car in?', 'Thanks for crashing me', 'Restart!?' 'I've got damage to suspension' etc etc.
I dunno about you guys but I can find it very distracting & that's why I sometimes block the messages for 1 flying lap only in qualy so I can concentrate fully without having inane messages pop up.
It just made it even harder to read the Race Control messages & RCM messages (which are indeed the only messages I want to read) whilst trying to navigating the course cleanly.
Hopefully those who like to chat during the race will learn from the penalties & STFU for the race :D
J@tko
12th February 2008, 12:19
....
:) The only messages you should have to read are the RCM ones, and there should be none of them in a race!
I simply adore baby FWD GTR's - they suit my 'powwerr!' driving style perfectly. I love the UF-BR more than the XF-JR, as it has more 'personality'. However, I'll probably be driving the XF-JR in this race, wherever it is.

@Taylor - Well I do find it kind of harsh and I know it can suck away someones concentration but 5 positions for saying is the safety car leaving in this lap because of a 7 lap deployment. I dont think you particularely need to pay THAT much attention during a safety lap O_O.
I know I have made a mistake (Wont happen again... hopefully..) but I also find it harsh for such a small thing as I didnt start a whole conversation with someone while racing O_O.
And yeah I think that if I get pole position and Jack is second he has a great chance of winning as I would have to overtake a whole 3-4 cars to get to him which MIGHT slow me down. Jack its ur time to shine xD
heh i never feel the need to block messages :P I just press H so the chat is a bit smaller and I dont pay attention to it. That simple. i guess its easier for some then it is for other :P.

Well okay...let's say your going round a corner with your eyes on the road & checking the mirrors, & you're waiting for the 'SC in this lap' or any other RCM. But then somebody writes something & you're obliged to look up to the top left incase of it being the RCM, even if it is totally meaningless. Only briefly maybe, but when a number of people are doing the same & you're being cautious as possible under the SC & of all the cars around you, the messages do become VERY distracting. Especially when you're checking the History for an RCM that you may of missed due to all the other pointless messages scrolling by. Consequently, accidents & crashes could easily occur. See my point?
And yeah even the slightest things can distract me! When hotlapping I Shift+F it & turn the volume up, that way NOTHING can bug me. With the speedo, split times, tacho etc all gone I can do much better with just the car visable and listening to the engine & tyres :)
...I know I have made a mistake (Wont happen again... hopefully..) but I also find it harsh for such a small thing as I didnt start a whole conversation with someone while racing O_O.

I took it flat out once, with warmed up tyres. What you should do, is dab the brakes, throw it in (maybe downshift) and get on the power as early as possible on the exit.

Current order that I've seen:

That'll be quali pace. Pole will be sub 1.20.
Fastest lap in race will be mid to lowish 1.20s.

I have worked on a set for the xf-jr last night which made a laptime of 1:19.94, but i'm sure there 3-4 tenths more to get ;) replay is attached, its the 5th lap... The chicane after start/finish is pretty hard to drive and i would recommend taking it only flat-out in qualy.
Today i will work on a set for the uf-br, but i think its not as fast as the xf-jr but maybe it will handle the tyrewear better.

I think i'm dropping out of this one... i've played for 30mins now and i havent finished one single flying lap... so never two laps in a row.
1/7 chance for me to flip in the first chicane.
1/10 chance to flip in the chicane after the uphill
1/5 chance to NOT flip in the turn after the downhill... (you can't even touch the kerb on that one)
and now... i'm more pissed than in the last race when i span...

1/7 chance for me to flip in the first chicane.
The only way you could flip in T1 is by going flat out...just ease off a bit and you'll be fine!
1/10 chance to flip in the chicane after the uphill
I really don't see how you can flip there, just drive straight through the middle of the kerbs, you don't need to even touch them.
1/5 chance to NOT flip in the turn after the downhill... (you can't even touch the kerb on that one)
I found that at first, but if you just turn in later, you can make it. There's a large run-off area at the exit, so you should be able to still go flat-out. If you still can't ease off a bit.
I find myself flipping when doing quali laps, but once I'm in the race, I'll calm down a bit and take the corners handier. And then watch everyone flip around me!!!

dont give up! look a few post above, i have posted a replay of me driving this combo. take a close look and watch my line!
For the second and third problem there is a easy solution, there just no need to touch the curbs... there must be something wrong with ur line.
For the chicane problem, well there are two solutions:
First watch my line i drive, full contact on the curbs to the left and as less contact as possible to the following curbs to the right and with a little luck your trough flat out. but this will flip u a lot.
Second and the safe solution let off the throttle a bit and take the same line as above just without hitting the curbs to left.
And finally as we have seen today the chance of getting flipped in the chicane is for everyone the same when going flat out. So everyone will hopefully try to get trough safe(slower) there in the race.
So if you can drive a steady pace of lets say 1:21-1:22 youre fast enough to fight for the top five.
