View Full Version : What have you bought for yourself for christmas present?

So what have you bought (or are going to) for yourself for christmas present?

Simple (and stupid) question, here's my answer:

I bought the GTA: San Andreas and a Mokoma music CD for myself. All I need now is some good mood and... hmm... money...:shy:

I bought myself Xbox 360... The thing is that I preordered it last summer, and I'm still waiting it. The store I ordered it from said they'll send me one as soon as they get more from importer. Hoping to get it during this week.
Also few games for it.

Me and the girlfriend bought ourselves a new couch. We also got it a couple of hundred quid cheaper than we should've done because we confused the crap out of the guy in the store :D

I bought myself a DFP a couple of weeks ago so that counts a present to myself.

First off embaressment by phoning into Lugradio (http://lugradio.org/) (see season 3, episode 5), second some SOiL/AHC tickets for Feb and I'm considering an iPAQ hx4700. Nothing really LFS orientated I;m afraid!

Wow, we're in the same boat. except I haven't been able to pay the phone/dsl bill yet. Yeah, Christmas pretty much sucks this year for us.
The "job" i thought I had apparently fell through. What a shame. They put me up in a fancy hotel for a week and gave me some expensive software and
I have access to their internal network.... yet no work. it seems the project I was going to be working on fell through. I'm down to my last 100 dollars and intend on gambling off some of it (what have I got to lose?) Yeah, it's gotten bad, but hey it can always be worse and in a few weeks,
it will be :)

I'll make a trip to Krasnoyarsk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krasnoyarsk), a city not far away from my. There will be a Festa di Natale of Italian-speaking community, and also some sightseeing for me: the national park, the hydroelectric powerstation dam, also the city is old, so it must be a specific ambient of much good old architecture.

I bought myself my S1 license, and hopefully will be able to afford to upgrade to an S2 after I finish the last minute Christmas shopping this week. :tilt: That, home made fried chicken, and one of the Ratchet & Clank games I think my girlfriend bought me, ought to cover my whole Christmas, lol.

I haven't bought any gift for myself, just food I am eating at the moment ;)

It is funny to hear people talk about the gifts they bought themselves for xmas. One woman told a group and I that she had bought herself some really nice coat and had her friend wrap it and sign the card... so right now it is under this woman's tree all tucked away as if it is really an unknown gift... blah! I think I'll go get this woman some McDonald's gift cards or something so she couldn't fit in that damn coat later on :D

Haha, well, I wanted to have somthing more than a PS2 game and some fried chicken, so after playing the demo for a day I decided LFS was worth getting myself, and calling it "for Xmas". :) When I was younger my Mom used to have me order my own stuff, with a price limit, then she'd wrap it and put it under the tree. Guess there was no surprise, but she knew I really wanted the stuff and she wouldn't have a clue how to order the right parts, lol. (I'm heavy into the good remote control car/plane etc. scene)

I won't be able to spend this chrissie with the family because of a new job so I won't be spending much on pressies but the new job means I've actually got some money to spend atm.

Two sets of cheap boxing gear...so my friends and I can beat the crap out of each other after an evening of uneven Tekken5 matches.

And I laid out my main wish clearly to my parents (a compressor and an air-wrench,and a ratchet set with universal sockets for '' and mm), so that's almost like getting the stuff myself.

Nah, personally I haven't bought myself, or anyone else anything. I'm not too fond of these traditions where you get all stressed to find a present for someone just because it's that time of the year again. I rather show my family that I like them every day...

Anyway, happy holidays guys!

Thanks, I think that I will find something, there is one strong plan going on, but just not 100% sure yet.

Well, everyone in company are very stressed because of boss, it is everyday something little, so I think that soon I will feel much better when there is no one pushing needles under my nails every day ;)

Still, not much money available and that makes it bad thing.

Niiice...I once thought about getting a VMax, too. But while I was waiting for the day I could afford it, I stumbled over a '74 Sporty, chopped all retro-like...well, and that was it.

Hey, I know, it's basically just a lot of scrap iron from Milwaukee bolted and welded together, and not even well at that.
But -in my ears- absolutely nothing in the world beats the sound.

I know why it is that large companies lay people off at this time of year.

They do it this time of year because then it gives them a few months to save some dough and it actually ends up balancing out the books come time to do all the tax and what ever else it is for the start of the new business year (april??) i would say that this is the "Cheap Shot" by those companies that do this.

*NOTE: after being made redundant after many years DO NOT accept to sign a new contract with the same company Normally it will be a 3 month contract and if its signed for those 3 months at the end of that they will most likely get rid of you and on the books it shows that you only worked for them for 3 months. Therfore no redundancy pay , No holidays owed, no nothing!!.

Anyway. Back on subject.(dunno what else to say now though :D)

Well, I wasn't going to post in this thread, but now I'm able too. I have Dish Network and have had it for 8 years or something. It is incredibly slow on the info screens and the on screen guides. It tells me "info not available" for everything and they changed the dish a few years back and I don't even get all the programing that I pay for. I have no pay-per-view movie options even though they advertise 19 channels of them. I called them this morning to bitch and they said I could have new recievers sent to me for $50 a piece (2 of them) and a new dish for $59. I said, ah, no, you guys give the stuff away to new customers daily and I've been a customer for 8 years now. You need to take care of your current customers, I'm not recieving the programming I pay monthly for. I could switch and get everything and more for free. They repeated that I could have the stuff sent out for $159 total and I said no thanks. Hung up the phone, called Direct TV and ordered a receiver, DVR receiver and dish all for free. I'll now actually get all the programming I pay for, free movie or concert once a month, the DVR is a big plus, and a remote that doesn't cost $69 every 6 months when it breaks because Dish Network has the stupid RF remotes that you can't replace with cheapo universals. I'll also get my local network channels that I didn't have the option of with Dish Network.

The free equipment isn't a big deal to most people because they do it all the time now, but 8 years ago I paid $389 freakin dollars for my system and they don't even have the decency to upgrade my dish so I can get the channels I pay for. That pissed me off! They'll be here in the morning on the 24th, just in time for watching some 3 month free movie channels Christmas Eve while waiting to put "Santa's" stuff under the tree for the kids :thumb: . So, that's the Merry Christmas present to the wife and I from the wife and I :D .

Today morning I was back from the trip to Krasnoyarsk. That was excelent. We had the Festa, quite family holiday, but with a large group of people, and then I staid at a bar with 3 girls from this group. Made new friends, did sightseeing in the city and it's outskirts.

It is also a big industrial city with >1 million population, but the wonderful feature is it's historical centre. It wasn't influenced much by Stalin's period architecture, neither by Khruschev's ugly boxes. It's pure 18-19th centuries' nice buildings. In my city there is only a few of such houses, but in Krasnoyarsk they are almost everywhere in the centre.

I thought about buying a PC device, but these things will stay with me forever.

Here are some pics. Distorted by lens, yep. Filenames contain the descriptions.

The weather was about -19°C without wind but very humid, it's not a problem to move indoor-to-indoor or in a bus, but definitely not for walking outside. The natives said I'm a nutter. :D
