Hello drivers,
We would like to conduct a test race on February 9th at the usual IGTC time (19:00 UTC).
All registered teams are required to attend. The purpose of this test is to gauge the experience levels of the teams involved and to make sure that no team is out of place in this particular league setting. The current car restrictions will also be under scrutiny.
The restrictions will be:
FZR: 15kg
XRR: 0kg
FXR: 0kg
The event will take place at BL1. Qualifying will be 30 minutes, followed by a 2-hour race with a mandatory driver change.
If you cannot make this date/time, please PM myself AND BenjiMC with a detailed explanation.
Thank you!

To clarify, the purpose of this test is mainly to simulate the racing environment of a real IGTC race, and to see how the teams that are new to the series cope with those circumstances. This is why returning teams are also required to attend. The new teams need to be evaluated in all areas. General racing conduct, being lapped, doing driver changes, coping with the rolling start and the safety cars, etc etc.
Thanks!

Concept Racing are confirming their attendance for this mandatory race.
Question is the lock off for cars - before or after this race?
Also will teams be able to enter more than one car for this one off test, as it will help you get the full grid maybe and also test out the new drivers, after all in such a short race, people may only try 2 of their new drivers out....
Regards,
Dru.

Dru: Was wondering about that too. I think that "multi-car registration" should be opened on Feb. 5th or 6th.
DeadWolfBones
23rd January 2008, 20:44
We'll consider that, for sure.
Even if multi-car registration isn't open yet at that point, teams with lots of drivers available will be able to drive multiple cars in the test race, in order to have a full field.

The IGTC website has a nice Clock that's in GMT.
A nice idea would be two additional smaller clocks, one in US EST, one in Aussie time, as we both are far away and rarely use the GMT standard.

Skins/tags are not required, though proper in-race naming as specified in the rules will be.
It wouldn't be proper to demand finished skins since teams will be allowed to switch cars post-test race if they choose.

Sorry, I didn't notice this thread. Peregrinus will attend the test race.
Unfortunately, due to the short length of the test race we may have one or two driver issues as we have two drivers in OWRL Division A and the first race is Saturday. Normally this would not be a problem as those drivers can do the final two hours of a 4 hour race. With the short format there is considerable overlap, but we will sort something out.

Hello racers,
In the leadup to this test race, we would like to emphasize a few things that we've only hinted at previously:
The point of this race is not to win. Now, I realize that a statement like this won't make any sense to any racer worth his salt, but really the point of the test race is to acclimatize all new teams/drivers to the way things work in the IGTC, and to shake out any bugs in the process. This means that all teams, but particularly new ones, are encouraged to run their more inexperienced drivers. Theoretically, the older teams will be quicker/better behaved and will give the new teams/drivers a baptism by fire, so to speak.
When I say the point of the race is not to win, that means that you shouldn't feel bad about, for example, running three 40min stints rather than two 1hr stints for the sake of giving three drivers seat time instead of just two. You shouldn't feel bad about running your slower drivers. There are no points and no prestige for winning this race, so use it first and foremost as a learning experience.
Two-car teams are allowed on a first-come first-served basis, as specified in the OP. We wavered a bit on this, but in the end it's in the interest of all teams involved. We do however ask that more experienced teams not enter two cars for the test race as we feel less experienced teams will benefit more from the added track time.
If more individual teams join the series before Saturday, multi-car entries will be cut in the reverse of the order they were requested. In other words, if we need to lose a multi-car test race entry, the last team to have requested one will be the first to be reduced back to one car.
A multi-car entry for the test race does not guarantee a multi-car entry for the series, should the series be opened to multi-car entries.
We fully expect there to be some kinks to work out, and we don't expect the test race to go flawlessly (though wouldn't that be nice?). We ask that you please bear with us through any difficulties.
Additionally, everyone can do their part to lessen difficulties by ensuring that they and their teammates thoroughly read the rules (http://www.igtc.zxq.net/rules/rules.html). I know they're long, but they're there to make things easier on all of us.
Thanks!

The reason we want the second car is we're possibly bringing in 2 drivers who are new to IGTC for round 1, so it'd be great to have 1 person who know how it usually goes partnered with one of the others ;)

Yeah, the host we're using for the test site doesn't seem to be the most reliable.

Added you to the prospective 2 cars-for-testrace list. You're 4th in line at the moment, but you're also a new team to the series, so that may work in your favor.

I just spoke to Benji on MSN about this, but I'll confirm it here.
We won't be able to make the test race tonight as only 1 driver is available. I pretty much just assumed we'd have 2 for tonight but illness, other league races and 21st birthday parties mean we only have 1 driver.
I'm very sorry about this, I hope it doesn't come across as a lack of respect, and I'm quite hopefuly that we'll be more reliable once the season starts!

We are also having problems. Our first driver is having travel problems and won't get back in time for the race. Two others are racing in OWRL, so they can do the last part. Of our other two, one is having connection issues and the other we have not seen today, so as it stands we have no one to start the race.
Sorry about this. We haven't given up yet, but it's not looking promising.
Dru
9th February 2008, 16:18
Just my 2 pence :D
It is was me the 2 teams above should at least start the races, afterall, the more on the grid means more practice for the rolling start and any SC periods that need testing out...
maybe the driver rule can be waved for this test race to keep the number up?
Storm_Cloud

That's our problem Dru, at the moment our only two available drivers will be starting the FO8 race in OWRL when the IGTC race starts.

I figure they probably wouldn't, as there's little on the line here and setups are bound to change a bunch over the next two weeks.

i doubt it would be the sharing of setups that would be the problem, it would be HOW different the setups are and whether or not a driver can just drive a hour stint with a brand new setup.. :scratchch
