I think i would be nice that time actualy changes and goes verry slowly from like day to evening to night
I think it would be great ad on to lfs
To 24 hour races in special caus i played sevral games with this feature
I do realise we need real working lights for that ore for some tracks like these high lamps that light the track

But to get from daylight to nighttime you need... a moving sun! And it's part and parcel of 'dynamic' weather (hint: dynamic means changes over time).

Yes it a great idea:), it's been suggested many times before.

i think it wil be in LFS finaly, you also have the option to set a time race and a lap race. maybe S3... :)

Good idea and I suport it :)
Been suggested before but it doesn`t hurt to hear it again. My guess is that it will be in LFS when it goes final, but thats like many years from now ;)

This would be SOOO cool for the 24 hour races. But then Scawen would have to code headlights, and it could get dangerous with the formula cars. :D

...and moving stars and constellations on the night sky...and real moon phases and faintly seen milky way and maybe galaxies and planetary nebulae if you turn all the lights off. Oh yeah and meteor showers coming from the right direction at the right time. Occasional random shooting stars if you are lucky...and maybe Santa Claus and his flying reindeers at xmas. :tilt:

I still think my idea from way back in RSC about having clouds as an alpha layer that move when there is wind a good idea that still applies.
So does a rotating sky (if we don't get dynamic lighting) like it does in Burnout.
Graphics are like my views of 3d modelling; all the small details make the big picture, and without the little details you get a very dull picture. It all stacks up on each other to make the final product.. a good one.

+1 for moving clouds
-1 for moving sun, because well, the sun doesn't really move, the earth spins

Depends on your reference point really. The sun is in an arm of the galaxy that rotates around the galactic core, which itself is hurtling through space. So, the sun does move. It just doesn't move around the earth. ;)

Wow, old school thinking if ever I saw it. It has been known for years now the world is flat and the big ball of fire in the sky has to be re-lit every morning.
You need to read some more :)

I don't know why I keep reading the improvement suggestions section of the forum... It feels like reading the suggested improvements log over and over and over and over and over and over and over again

Live for Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship XRT.
Her five lap mission: to explore strange new combos. To seek out new lap times
and new personal bests. To boldly go where no racer has gone before.
(BTW, I get to play Captain James T Bawbag, and I get to make out with every hot chick that plays LFS, understood?)

You idiot, that's Star WARS dammit.
I have to ask, why is it that LFS doesn't do day/night as is? I know there are ton's of 'easy fix' issues that have yet to be addressed, as they are focusing on certain improvements in particular, but is it difficult to do or not? I can't imagine it being more difficult than changing the lighting in the game, adding lit-up lights, and just making the headlights light up the space ahead of the car... but I don't know anything about programming. If they did that, it would be a much cooler upgrade than just a new track, or a new car (in my opinion.)

Programming is a lot harder than you could imagine, especially all that graphical stuff you mentioned. Its not just "place light here" and magically there is a light there, Scawen needs to build all of that into the graphics engine first, which takes time. Even a lot of these simple fixes people speak of are probably way more complicated than they think. If these things could be done easily I'm sure Scawen would have done it already, I doubt he's sitting there reading the forum going, nah not going to bother doing that today.
But yeah, I feel like day/night and some real weather(rain) is going to come with S3 hopefully, and it will be awesome. Although I still stand by my prediction that rain will never be used outside of leagues because people will not be able to handle it(same might be able to be said about night racing).

rotf. You don't program IRL then :)
Not that simple and then there are normally loads of tweaking that is required so they you know its good on all platforms of hardward supported etc.

On some tracks there is a kind of afternoon feel, late afternoon and the sunset skies and lighting already.
Would it be possible to melt these together so that for long races, you would get that feeling of the passing of time?
Would be cool for a GP of 70 odd laps to start in clear afternoon and finish in sunset.
