Good morning, afternoon or evening...

I would like to invite all Live For Speed drivers to a unique server I have been working on for the last month and a half. The system seems 96% stable, although it occasionally locks up and a very are crash pops up now and then. The server is very fun, but it doesn't run if there is only 1 person so to test it out find a friend or two and go have some fun.

As a fair warning, but please don't be turned away by this: You will be forced to spec races. Each driver is placed in a "Waiting Line" and will get a turn to race. It is possible to miss your race so pay attention to the text display as it will display your name and your opponents name. Each race is 1 lap and lasts less than 2 minutes tops so waiting time isn't that long, and a lot of the races are quite entertaining.

Note: Password may be disabled (public server) and it also may be different if I am testing privately. Although server should generally be public so I can get more people!!

Please help with testing by posting any bugs you find with the system here. Also when posting a bug make sure you know what caused it and how I can reproduce it. If there is a crash and you have a "good" guess as to why then also post that. Please read through this list as I will maintain it as much as I can. Suggestions and requests will be placed on this list but that does NOT mean any of them will be implemented, so if you have an idea MAKE sure it is not on the list. I am posting the "Things to be worked on" list so that the testers know what is to come and what will need to be tested the hardest in the future. I will also color code the bugs depending on severity and if they have been completed.

Things to work on and Bugs to hunt:
Previous Race Results needs to display the results of the race, who won, lost, did not finish...
Website is all messed up, squished, squashed and split wrong. [FIXED]
Player is removed from the waiting line when they do not join their race: Still "On Deck" [FIXED]
Activate/Deactivate button gets pressed by itself somehow...
Race does not restart if someone is joining the server while the system sends the restart command.
Single player "practice" mode treats it as a race giving the player $100 for "winning" and adding to their other stats.
Click top-left Bet button and then bottom-left Bet Button very quickly will produce the bottom-right button being pressed.
Clicking interface buttons can sometimes do the wrong things when the button comes back into the system.
*This is possibly caused by lagging packets, try not to click on buttons when the interface changes... Looking for a better solution.
Race time is off by about 15ish seconds. Race starts to end at 1:30 rather then 1:45 so that it is a 2 minute race.
Start the person with the most bets in front, even bets allow the racers to join in the correct order.
Track does not always change when the system tries. Also should allow racers to end the race for a new track.
Num races before track change is always N/A even when on random tracks. [FIXED]
Interface was not updating with database. [FIXED]
Player rename did not update the players name everywhere in the system. [FIXED]
User places bet, disconnects, race finishes. [FIXED]

Show the stats of two drivers so a gambler can compare before placing bets.

Heh, no problem really... Although testing is mainly going on around these times: 01:00 (am) gmt to 05:00 (am) gmt I know those times are early but really thats my after work hours and the time I am home and working on the system... I will be running the system everyday while I am at work but please note it will be running from my home computer so I won't be able to restart it and it MIGHT have crashed... (If you can't type $menu or press shift-i to bring up a menu then it has crashed).

Also it takes 2 people to actually activate the server, but if you join by yourself you can race around that track until another person joins you. Hope you enjoy my hard work and hope I get some testers during the times above.

Wow thanks for the compliments... its not quite finished yet but its running pretty well. Testing starts tomorrow same time as it normally does. And I am glad to have seen some good racing there last night, even a tie... very nice racing.

Like I've said; system is running and I am on it even though I am inactive... join with a friend and have some fun. Hope to see some more testers the rest of the week, and with any luck the server will be running constantly in February...

Wednesday night testing is starting super early. I have a friend that is supposed to be helping everyone that is new to the system. The system is also getting more stable so I am comfortable leaving it running without my supervision! Which is great.

Yea, it would be way too much of a pain trying to teach people and make them wait for their turn without the InSim. You may think its boring but its actually great fun... I don't know why but a few people joined thinking it was a crash server, or a demolition derby and I wanted to point out that its nothing of the such and the racing will hopefully stay clean...

Another very good testing night. A few new faces but we could still use more so for those reading this thread you really should try joining the TEST server sometime. Its getting closer and closer to completion and tonight we changed the bet amounts and allowed people to win a little money just for finishing a race. 2 other minor bugs had been fixed and we now have the system automatically turn on and off when the user is finishing or starting a race... So that it is not up when racing, but comes up after. This was due to high demand so it goes to prove I listen to my users - which could be you!

i have tested this server (by means of racing on it).
i found the server to be really great in terms of racing quality and sportsmanship, so anyone who wishes to use it please do the more the better.

Sure enough it did crash. I got home and put the code back to the way it was before. Slightly more stable but at the same time its a little more of a pain so I need to work on a global change over the weekend.


Anyways, testing has started for Friday night so PLEASE come join the fun. It really is great when 5 or more people get online. So please try it out, and give it a good shot before saying its crap or anything...

At first you may think that it's boring to spectate 75% of the time, but it really isn't. After all, you bet on the drivers, and watching them go side by side into the last corner is very entertaining to say the least.

Hey guys who have been testing the server. Please post in this thread any bugs you have noticed with the system and how to repeat the bug. Do not mention bugs that you can't reproduce as its probably not a bug... If you are there and the system by chance crashes also post here and explain the incident in as much detail as you can. IE racerA disconnected after racerB had placed a bet on the race between racerA and racerC and any other info you can get...

Also if you have very SMALL suggestions go ahead and let me know here and I will think about them to see if the suit the DashForCash system... Thanks.

I am keeping up the great work. I changed a lot of little things in code, and will need a handful of testers tonight. And this time again I do not need "racers" I need actual testers who are willing to disconnect at seemingly random times and to try breaking the system as some of my code has changed and I want to make sure it didn't introduce any bugs.

Please note that this is a testing session and you will need to do things as I ask you to do them so that I can test to find bugs. There will be enough racing and fun, but it is meant to find bugs. If you don't know how to test its not a problem, I can help you. More testing that happens during this phase the better. Well after some good hard testing we got several issues ironed out and it is working very well. I am happy to see several of my changes went in smoothly and that a few of the crashes that used to be there had been fixed... Some things are now working that haven't been. And some new plans are in the works for this week...

Hoping to go live by the end of the week as well but like I said before, I am not launching the system until everything is dialed in.

Yea, actually the other day I heard a suggestion come along and there will be some more action to come for the higher "ranked" players. Simply put if you have over $10000 you will be able to do special things, and once you get over $25000, $50000, and $100000 you will be able to do special things to give the players more of a 'reward' type of thing. This feature will be hidden to ALL players except those that have been constantly testing until the launch of the system which may not be for another week or two... Even if I *just* stated that it might go live by the end of the week it still might... Don't know quite yet because there are a few more features that are being added still and when they are complete I think it will add more to the system!

Testing will begin in two to three hours from the time of this post, although tonight will be more of a racing night as the heavy duty testing was done last night.

Great session last night. A few bugs have surfaced although the cause of the bugs are still a little unknown - we just know they exist. We had over 16 racers for about 3 hours and that was pretty amazing, as it is we have had over 9 racers for the last 5 hours and there is still JUST now 8 racers on the server as I am leaving...

I am on the server just AFK as it allows the server to stay in the public list. If the server crashes while I am asleep I am sorry... I hope it doesn't though - although there is a known crash that needs to be fixed somehow... Have heard tons of feedback and there have been tons of new people as well as some regulars. I can't wait until the system is finished later this month. I hope you all enjoy it and keep the racing clean like it has been! Very nice...

We had about 15 people online just now. Was good fun until server went rather odd - cancelling races for no reason (it appears) and being very sluggish with betting.

It also bugged when a guest connected while the race was restarting.

Apart from that ot was great fun!

I deactivated myself once, and then reactivated myself. I did one race.

Then, when the system started messing around, I was actually deactivated by the system, and I couldn't press the activate button. It made a noise but did not respond. That could be why races were cancelled.

As to the preferred car idea Migz, that has been a thought more then once, but it actually takes away from the system. Especially because the complete randomness mixes it up a lot. It gives attention to all cars including the "harder" ones so that people can practice and get a chance to really use it.

I will be making a new thread for Dash For Cash testing since this one is misleading, and I want to be more organized with the bug list and testing things. I am finally getting organized testing while I am at work so I need a place that you guys can write about the bugs you find... I will post a link here and ask you to bookmark it or add it to your favorites if you would like to help with the testing.

Will eventually... you can go read the first attempt that failed HORRIBLY! So I am just waiting for the Head to Head Racing Series to be announced and get a list. Show Victor our amazing website for H2H and that there is interest then get the sub-section. Just showing that there is interest and that I am dedicated to it wasn't enough we will actually need a list of signups. For the best I guess but a bit of a pain. So this thread is used for MANY MANY reasons for Dash For Cash. Its used for announcements, bugs, suggestions, organizing test events and all of that fun stuff.

I don't know if this is possible, but it would be a nice touch if, when you were spectating a race, you automatically spec'd the car you bet on. For some reason, I always get the other one... unless that's done for a reason.

I am sorry the Dash For Cash system was not running for the last week, if you didn't know I was away traveling. Unfortunately I gave a teammate a bad copy of the system, so it wasn't able to run for him. The good news is it will be running again tonight and I hope to see some people there... I am hunting an important bug that right now we have no known cause for -

Occasionally when you press a button the system things you pressed the Activate/Deactivate button (or a different button then you actually pressed). I have a hunch that its due to pressing buttons as the menu is refreshing itself, so I need some testers later tonight. System is off right now and won't be running for about 9 hours since I am at work for the moment.

Well, its been a while and I have been busy but its time to get back on the Dash For Cash project! So I am here to announce the return of the [SR]DashForCash server, which is still in Alpha stage. System is locked on the Head-to-Head combo for later today. Last night (or tonight/this morning (its 3am)) I worked out a few bugs!

- Auto Restart when both racers join the track!
- Not joining your race will not cause you to never race again.
- Race should restart even if someone joins server (Needs testing)
- Forced spectate due to passengers are now displayed to racer!

More fixes will follow in the following weeks, so stay tuned and check it out as we make progress.

First off all great work on inplementing the "auto-start" feature once both racers join, saves up quite a bit of time, more racing less waiting is always nice at D4C! Great job!

Now to some of the bugs that I remember from last night.

- Autospectated me once or twice (from 40 races or so) in the middle of a race, and from what I remember it happened on the first race after a track change, at least for me.

- Counter of remaining races on current track didn't work last night

- Needed to re-activate myself a few times to appear into the "upcoming races" list again.

Other than that I can't remember any issues, it was a lot of fun (as always) great job on the system Blackbird! :D

Just so all public members know work has officially begun on Dash For Cash. I am running the old beta version during the day (evening for those near the UTC timezone). During my evenings however I lockup the server and am doing private testing. There are very nice things to come and hopefully some of the bugs in the first post will be fixed...

If you enjoyed DashForCash before, be prepared to enjoy it even more!

Yea, my laptop must have went down yet again, and I will blame MS's auto restart when updating... It looks like it won't be up until I get home 8.5 hours from now - sorry guys... I am looking into better solutions however dealing with time changes and stuff that will be waiting until at least the weekend.

Fixed that, system was running but it was passworded due to when the system wasn't running... I just didn't remove the password when I restarted the system... Doh! :doh:

Its strange, but yes this happens and is known. Also if racers voted to end it would not change tracks... As long as cars are changing it should still remain new combos all the time.

There was a bug when i changed my name after a race, it seemed to crash the insim program, we had to all leave the server for it to end race and work again.

If the system is still running than the Dash For Cash application did not crash, which is good. It might have been confused, we will look into it when we finally get a chance. By the way development is on pause right now for Head-to-Head System changes and improvements.

Alright lol, it's just that after all the things he's did to me and a few others I don't think he deserves to play LFS, But when you buy S2 it doesn't have a retard checking system so that is why he has 3 accounts.

What are you talking about here? Maybe it's something similar as what I will talk about just now... I had some conflicts with [SR] members on the server. My friend had too. I don't really remember who was it, but they are not racing fair & clean... Pushed me out of way, sometimes crash, cutting the track and when I after race ask ,,wtf is with you?", so he tell me that it's only a game... But if you do something to him, he cries like a silly baby. He's right, it's just a game, but it is not a reason to don't race clean and without contacts.. The same problem isn't only with some [SR] members, but with the others racers too. Next time will try to save the replay.

Is there any chance to make in the insim a way to download replay from previous race? Would be usefull, wouldn't be?

DashForCash won't have this feature for awhile although the Development team and I have discussed this greatly. For now please save the replays manually and I suppose PM them to me although I want to find a better way to start reporting incidents.

We already have our ideas on what we are doing. Like I said, it won't be done for awhile. Please ignore most suggestions/improvements for now until the next testing phase comes. The Dev-Team behind this, (SRS), has their plans sorted out and what happens is what happens :P I am sure you will like what is to come, but first things first: HEAD-TO-HEAD is the most important thing on my todo list and since the event is on Saturday, I need to keep focused and working on that.

Well, as you can see the project is on hold. And where as I would love to bring it back I don't have a server, nor do I have the time. Working 2 jobs at the moment and other real life events are soon occurring to take up even more free time. I know a lot of people really liked the server and system of Dash For Cash, but it wasn't as popular as I had hoped it to be, for now the project is not canceled, but I can't see it picking up progress anytime very soon.
