"Uploading skins: great for letting people see your taste in car-decorating, but don't you just hate it when the skin you want to upload has the same name as somebody else's?"

Enough of the advertising talk, what I'm trying to say is; when you're logged in at LFSworld.net and you upload a skin it would be nice if all your skins automatically gained the prefix of your LFS username. For example: "FXO_Mp3 Astra_XYZ". This way, problems with double-named skins would be less stark, and skins could be browsed and searched in an easier fashion. Yes, I know people could do it themselves, but doing it automatically would be good for those (like me) who just don't do it because we're silly!

I like, although the character limitation for skins could pose a problem with people with long licence names.

I like this idea a lot, and bob wouldnt it be a relatively easy fix to increase the limit a reasonable amount?

Another alternative is to limit on LFSW the skin to a few usernames that could use it, like team skins could be used by that team, but if somebody else used it on a different username it wouldnt like download for anybody else on the server?

How would the others see that teamskin then, DeKo?

Wouldn't there be problems with spaces in the usernames?

This also has the issue of popular skin packs needing to be in the racer's own LFSW skin upload folder if they want to use them online, apart from the team skin problems.

There's a really easy way around this... Change the name of the skin you want to upload ;)

The problem with that is that the LFSW skin would then have a different name to the skin you have in your skins folder, meaning no one would download the skin off of LFSW because the game thinks it's not uploaded, on account of the different name. Also, as Bob mentioned, many skins will also no longer fit in the short(ish) character alotment we have.

You change the name of the skin... FXO_Mp3 Astra_XYZ , FXO_Mp3 Astra_ABC.

Simple!

The best way to get round the problem is just to stick a couple of random numbers in your skins name, take up much less space than your whole username.
