What happens if you get banned from a server? Can you go back to it the next day?

Depends how long the ban is. Best thing to do is not get banned.

well.. a vote ban is 24 hours (usually) afaik it is
but if you were banned by the server owner it could be.. for eternity (no joke)
seeing your a demo person, if it was the server owner.. it might be a while lol

Vote bans last a days I think (24 hours), where as an admin ban can last between 1 and 999 days.
However, the units might be hours. Not sure. Follow the above advice and don't get banned :p

I never said you were too good. Judging by your language just now, and the simple fact you managed to get banned in the first place, I'd say the evidence points to you not being good enough.
As for stupid, well, I've always found getting banned rather hard (apart from a few servers that like to encourage fair play), so yeah if you can manage it then there is probably a small about of stupidity.
And, whats more, you can't make a witty come back to me, as I'm middle-aged (on your scale).

All i wanted to know is how long am i suppose to wait to get back on that server.

Why go back to that server? I was banned once for something that was strictly down to my inexperience. I didn't go back and I haven't seen it since. There's plenty more out there and if you're decent you won't get banned again. :thumb:

Seem heat kicking off on this post as for you fossil man :P 40 is merly mid life as long as you look after your self lol....
As for my fellow demo american racer, Why you getting all heated for theres 100's of servers. and you got banned from one. 'wow' end of day if you got banned for the reason you told us. 'cos your to hot on the track' then SURLY!!! you should take it as a compliment and just shrug your shoulders instead of kicking up a stink.....
But to be fair ive never heard such waffle, getting banned for being to good.... and your a demo racer.... either youve been a demo racer for a long time & your a cheap scape and not buying the game or your just filling us with **** and really you just had your foot down to the boards on blackwood and just smashed into everyone on the 1st corner....
End off..........

It's not uncommon to get banned on a demo server for being "too good".
If that was the case, then maybe you ought to get a license. That don't
happen on licensed servers.
LOL there I don't think you'd have to worry too much about being "too good" :)

On the similar vein of being banned for being too good, I was once nearly banned on a demo server (ages ago!) for a similar reason by a stupid kid and his bunch of mates. (this always sticks out for some reason, but it is quite funny!) The reason was that I had just won a race and the kid was asking people what controller they used. I replied wheel. The rest of the conversation went like this: -
k = Kid, m = Me.
k = Thats not fair you can't use a wheel!
m = why?
k = becuase its cheting
m = why?
k = becuase a whel is easier than keys.
m = WTF?
k = u shuold use keys
m = so your telling me that I should give up something that I paid £50 for and totally used to just because a kid with an obvious spelling and grammar problem can't take being beaten?
k = fukkkker ur gonna get bnaned!
m = ok whatever, ban me, loser.
k = press 1!!!11111
Luckily for me he only had 3 mates and the rest of the people on the server ignored the vote and supported me, telling him they used wheels too. I think the kid got banned for wrecking anyway as he couldn't take losing!

Hi everybody!!
it isn't true that you get banned just for bad behaviour... i got quite angry last night when some people in a drift server wanted to ban me... (although they couldn't, not enough votes... :P) I found this man trying to ban me and his group of stupid friends voting with him. He said that i was in the middle of the road, when i was in the pits working on my setup. (He and his mates were pit drifting :( ). they didn't manage to ban me because someone didn't vote, so they decided to ban someone else shouting: "ban the noobs, ban the noobs!", "press 1!" and using silly tricks like "press 1 for nos!" after he started the vote...
this is the second time that this happens to me, and i've seen that it is quite common on demo servers, especially the drift ones, where there is no competition or laps, and for this reason some people think that there are no rules and no respect for who wants to enjoy LFS.

I got band by these 2 guys because i wouldn't stop (minding my own business) driving my lap and do a drag type race with them at the start line on that fun track with the jumps.. i was outraged

Hehe, had a close call yesterday on the NOS demo server when an iDi member showed up and started causing havoc. There were a couple of random twats too who pressed 1 for anyone who got voted. At one point I was just 1 vote from being banned, good thing that's when he decided to wreck and got banned himself :D

I was going to respond to the effect of asking whether you were in a drag/drift server and racing clean laps, but I notice you're licensed. We don't have drag servers anymore in licensed now that there is an actual drag strip. Anyways, did you happen to be on a drift server?
NotAnIllusion, were you on demo servers? I can't believe any of those idiots would be licensed for S2. That would be a complete waste of money for them, as eventually they'd be banned from every server out there and it sticks in S2. I know theres a big controversy over "naming and shaming", but we all know what [IDI] is, or at least us veterans, and perhaps if anyone is sporting that tag, they should be named and shamed so we know who they are.

Yeah I was on the NOS Racing Team server on the demo side chasing the 1:31s. Actually I was quite fortunate to spot the iDi dude earlier. A few days ago he came to the same server with iDi tags, this time he'd left them out. Didn't fool me for a sec :D
There are a couple of idiots on the S2 side too, and I've seen deliberate wrecking. Problem is that with no-naming-and-shaming there's actualyl nothing we can do about it except ban the person from that one server. :(

interesting debate, i'd like to know whats going to happen if the wrong people get "branded" or wrongly recognised?
So how to identify "wreckers" else as by their intentional wrecking or driving behavior?

Probably that's the end for them hehe, and of course the worryign thing is that wreckers would pretend as far as possible to be someone else so the whole procedure is questionable.
Wreckers or "hazards" could perhaps be identified by things that no serious racer does. E.g., drive the wrong way during a race, remain stationary in a silly part of the track, not letting go of the gas and showing no attempt to avoid big collisions (e.g. in bl1 t1 you can safely assume if the person hasn't let go of the throttle at the 50m marker etc).
I think it'd be fighting a losing battle, replays would help everyone draw the (hopefully) right conclusion, yet I think there's not much point in the end. There aren very few real wreckers in the licensed circles.

yes tag, usually a pre- or suffix to a player name to identify the racer's team.
E.g.:
[IDI], [CG-R], (V), [Fluid] KingNothing
So tags, he showed up as [IDI]FakeName ;)

Sometimes after a wrecker is banned (iDi) came back with an existing username, and try to ban the original people ... :(
Nobody knows who is thre real, but they want to kick the wrecker ,to protect their race ...
The devs have to do something ... :)

There are a couple of things you can check in that case
1) Exact spelling of name
2) License plate
3) Controller method <-- they often don't change this, ban the one the wrecker had if it's different

The drift severs are really the worst, If someone can tell me if i can post chat logs or save them, I could show you liscensed guys something to give you a laugh. I never got banned because i rarely talk because if you talk i notice you get banned :) The arguments go from new guys spinning out and ruining their UbEr Chain Drift that was doomed from the start, to someone talking back .

Yah lol, I was driving the wrong way since i was close to pit and i waited for everyone to leave and then these guys come from behind me on BL GP, Three of them hit me and the other two crash trying to dodge the cars. All i see on the chat log is: ok who is getting banned!!......... lol so then i disconnected before they banned me since i had no chance to explain and I knew his friends were going to ban me also. I thought maybe they would forget so I come back around 2 hours later and i successfully leave the pit and i got disconnected. I thought maybe it was the server, so try and relog and I cant see the same server. So I guess they banned me or something even though i didnt see a vote. Oh well. :thumb:

Yeah I have the same question. How can you get the chat logs???
options/misc - "log messages"
EDIT: There are 3 pass that can be set on a server. Normal pass for the private, an admin pass for admins. The 3rd one can be found on the cfg.txt named as "server pass", which (if i'm right) is works on public servers, but who joins with this pass, can be prevent from being banned. It doesn't give admin rights to anyone. So i think this would be a little solution of the troubles in demo servers.
Hope it helps ;)

If the server disappeared after you got disconnected, it's probably the server that was actually closed, rather than you getting kicked.
You can see servers that you're banned from in the list, but when you try to connect to them, it says that the server refused the connection. That's when you know you've been banned :)

Don't get banned? That's like saying "don't drive LFS online". Some people will ban you cos they don't like it when THEY crash into you.
