Ok so sitting in the car today going to college and I see a big beastly American long nosed style truck rolling by and I think of the truck racing and how entertaining it is to watch.
Ok so after the Nurburgring thread I put up it was a bit far fethced, but don't you think a bigr acing truck would be fun in LFS? I honestly think it would be class as:
1.They are not to fast so close racing
2.They are big heavy things and will be hard to corner
3.Would be fun putting it up against the XRT or XRG, lol!
Please leave your thoughts and ideas on this.
Ps. Sorry if it's allready been suggested, tried searching but got nothing.

Yeah truck racing comes up quite a lot, I think that and karts are the top two most-requested new vehicles.

Cool, was just thinking, imagine they let a truck in demo, wreckers would have soooo much fun. But it would be quite ehh, entertaining taking thsi round the So sprint tracks!

I think a race truck would be a great addition to the cars in LFS or better still 2 , an American and a European flat fronted one as long as they are reasonable equal in performance. Truck racing is very good to watch as they are actually very fast accelerating up to about 100mph in a few seconds:thumb: , I remember watching a race truck versus a rally spec impreza doing a lap at Brands hatch (kent) and the subaru only beat it by a very small amount ;) . That said some tracks would be more roomy in the turns than others . I would love to see the inclusion of this type of vehicle in S3 :D

The main complication for trucks as I see it as they are best suited to very wide tracks without much in the way of long straights. LFS currently has either one or the other. But 1000+hp, 5 tonnes and 0-100mph in 6 seconds sounds damn good to me! Actually the truck tweak I made for S1 was great fun, very drifty through the bends (like it should be).
Should this thread be merged with the other ones about trucks?

Imagine a full field of 5.7L V8 utes, with sod all aero, no weight at the back and around 300hp a piece - all piloted by LFS maniacs. Too much fun

Imagine that and a big truck in the middle of the field!!!
Would be class....hope it comes around one day. :)

I hope some day we could race a truck in LFS, S1 Tweak's Race Truck was amazing to drive! :hyper:

AGAIN! the cries of the many for FIA supertrucks ring every where
from the Cab over flat nose (or COE cab over engine) to the long snout frieghtliner of the 2005 championship Team Buggyra and the old caterpillar type. these two are soooo needed
can you tell i am a fan?

There must be a million things that I would rather see the devs spend their time on than a truck. With all the many types of motorsport events in the world today it would be a shame to omit some of the more popular vehicle types in favour of a novelty one.

No novelty!
it is a real very fierce and awesome racing to behold.
Truck racing is as novel as Nascar Craftsman Trucks and see how big that has become- it is as novel as Vintage racing and Hillclimbs, and Touring cars(grocery getter going racing?-but WTCC-BTCC STCC are so cool arent't they)
i would like to see formula ford type open wheelers and pre war brookland or Long race (bugatti t35, Fiat mephistofeles, Miller and ERA racers) first but FIA super trucks is too cool dnot to try.
ever try Mercedes Benz Truck Racing Sim? they are very cool a challenge to drive fast, and oh the understeer- NO the Drifts-No the back wheels in the grass and spinning- ack i went from 1st to 8th- 2 laps later i am up to 3rd hoping to catch up by lap 20 to be #1
truck racing is so intense

Like I said, I think it's a novelty. Maybe in your part of the world they get excited about it, but globally it isn't a drop in the motor racing ocean.

Trucks are pretty cool in racing, and wheter it be a racing truck or a street truck, it'd still be fun. But I think for any truck to fit well into this game, it would have to be an offroad truck for the rallycross tracks. If we had a road one, well.... it could be great to have, but there is a lot more room for having proper race cars -- most of us want nostalgic cars, prototypes, hefty v8's, etc.

SD.trucks can out accelerate a 911 to 100 mph, then the fact they wiegh 5 tons and have the aroedynamics of a brick starts to come into play

The same principle goes with the MRT. Just because it seems that those trucks are so different doesn't make them novelty.
Just out of curiosity: what is so bad with the trucks? I mean you seem to be so against them, which I personally can't understand :) . Trucks are certanly different from current LFS cars, but only by looks and size. Sure they have (IRL) that 160kph safety speed limit and big engines and some weird rules (like black smoke from engine -> retire) but I still can't think a race being boring or stupid with these cars.
I would have never wanted a car like FOX in LFS but after tried that I think it's one of the best cars in LFS. I am just saying that all car types deserve a chance and if the car is totally undriveable or boring the devs probably leave it out.
I personally have nothing against trucks but other things suggested like karts in LFS (OT starts here...). They hell-twitchy, no suspension and short wheelbase. Fun in real life, painful in virtual one. But as I haven't tried them in LFS I can't know that ;)

So will a Morgan on 190 bhp
I'm not jumping up and down for proper club racing to be included, grids of MGs, Austin Healeys, TRs and Morgans along with some big Jags would be great :), but LFS currentley does not simulate strutural stiffness, this rules it out of anything but modern racing cars heavilly strengthened from shell up. It also rules it out of historic racing as TBH LFS would currently create historic racing no better than GTL (yes thats hard to admit), it would just feel like a tail happy modern car.

this race trucks are limited to 160Km/h, but without any limitation can get more than 240km/h, so they are not so slow

In reality they'll probably be a bit quicker than the XRG and UF1 at some of the wider, faster tracks.

Yeah, but TOCA is produced by codemasters, and they couldnt make a decent version of pong.

No fun in wrecking-fests. However I would still like to see a truck in LFS.

I really think this is a pointless waste of time, yes I'd love it if Scawen could magically produce a racing truck or historic racing, but in reality that doesn't just happen like that, I think simulating a 1000 bhp diesel should be the last thing on Scawen's mind, Christmas, a break and his kitchen should be the next things on his mind then when he's had a break a nice juicy physics update with a new aero package and other bits and pieces to essentially finish off S2, then get to work on the essential physics elements for S3 (diffs, structural stiffness) then followed by extras (rain, engine stresses, brake wear) then more tracks and only finally adding new cars.

Fun in real life, painful in virtual one. But as I haven't tried them in LFS I can't know that ;)I'm not against trucks. But on the scale of cool things to add to this sim trucks would be the last on my list. Trucks have WOW factor, "oh my god wouldn't it be fun to race trucks! WOW!". While people have already suggested truck racing umpteen times, karts, muscle cars, rally, dedicated drag cars, can am, historic etc have more support, are more popular and would be better suited to LFS. Many suggestions also for more class based racing. I don't know how many more cars people expect LFS to get in the future, but I predict that not all of these choices will come to light. So considering the workload on Eric and Scawen to model and code new vehicles in the future I'm hoping that trucks don't get in the way of many other suggestions which are perhaps less novel, less WOW! but ultimately more relevant to the sim and have their roots planted more deeply in motor racing history. Jet boats would be enormous fun too, but I wouldn't support those in front of the humble kart, for example.
So some people may be very happy suggesting trucks, Im just as happy to unsuggest it. It's just my view.
