Hello, everyone.

I hope that you will all participate in this and help to make it a fun thing for all involved. With any luck, this should be a nice treat for ~25 teams and individuals around these parts and maybe draw the community together a bit around the holidays. We've already gotten one present with the (test) patch, but who wouldn't like to get another present, right? :tilt:

Some notes on the nominations process and the method I used to determine the nominees for each category:

I had originally said the 5 most-nominated choices in each category would be the category nominees. However, the number of nominations I received was a bit lower than I expected, so I ended up with a number of categories with many single-nomination candidates.

So, what I have done is to only accept candidates with more than one nomination each. In most cases, this results in 5 or fewer nominees per category. There are a few categories with more, but not much more.

There are three more kinds of exceptions.

1. If the category has 5 or fewer candidates total, all are accepted, no matter how many nominations.

2. In one category, there were more than 5 candidates but only one with multiple nominations. Therefore, all candidates were accepted.

3. The best movie category has a special setup that's explained in the thread.

In each voting thread I will mention in the first post those teams who were nominated but who did not receive enough nominations to be accepted for the voting. Because, hey, it's an honor just to be nominated, right? :D

Voting will be open until roughly midnight EST on January 1st.

I would appreciate it if those forum users with multiple accounts would not vote more than once, but we have to go with the honor system on that one.

I'd also appreciate it if you don't look at the poll results before voting. It's better to vote without any extra bias if possible.

Edit: There's nothing stopping you from voting for yourself, but you should probably take stock of the ethical implications of doing so beforehand. :D

Let's get it on!

First of all, congratulations to all winners, and really to everyone who was nominated (or mentioned in the poll threads as should-have-been-nominated)! We have a great community here in LFS, and I think that (for the most part) this event proved that quite well.

While not all categories were as well delineated as they could have been, and perhaps some of the fights were a little lopsided, I think that for a mostly slapdash effort it came off pretty well. I promise that next year things will go more smoothly. For one thing, I hope to have a full month-long nomination period, and maybe even get a SMS or email message out to all LFS users notifying them of the open nominations, rather than just a sticky.

Thanks to everyone who voted for making this work, and thanks to everyone for keeping a positive attitude toward the whole thing.

I'll be working with Victor over the next few weeks to come up with something special for the winners to display for the year to come. No real prizes for these awards, I'm afraid... nonexistent budget and all... but at least there should be something. But the real prize is the honor, right? :)
