Should be any time then, right? Not much point having the host up without clients to use the new features.

Maybe it'll just be bug testing for a couple of days, make sure the hosting is down before the clients get updated.
Or maybe it's just to pre-empt all the people wanting to play with the new car, making sure there's enough hosts to cater for them all in a few hours :)

Whats the problem? People who are interested will find them even more easily now, and people who arent interested wont be annoyed by these servers.

So we all win.

james12s

me like the cruise filter, i go on them ocasionally but they do get on my nerves when finding race servers, though we still need a favorite server list, so if say ctra bump and jump is empty you dont have to wait ages for it to show, you can go straight to your favorites, but thats something maybe for the future

South City Chicane Route is infact the new track, proven as scawen posted a picture of a serverlist including this track name, I can't wait to try out our new combo! :tilt:

So.. it's recommended to do a clean install of LFS for trying out the test patch? All it says in the official thread is that we "need to unlock again".

While I'd love to try it out, I don't want to mess up my current install..

You lucky bastards already have the patch while I'm 186 miles away from my gaming PC. :(

Copy your current install to a new place, and apply the patch to that one, leaving your original install intact.

To answer your question. The Formula BMW looks how it should look like... like a Formula BMW.

Nope. If you have lots of modified textures and stuff, better take backup from the dds folder.

welll theres no run off area, and that part of blackwood its a little longer, its cool, if u have a cool pc...

edit: guys i passed my settings folder to the test patch, but the sets dont appear in the game ... can someone explain me this?

danowat

Clutch overheating is gonna take some getting used too, I can see many races being cut short because of this.

Seems quite easy to overheat the clutch ATM.

The set prefixes have changed, they now use the three letter system. So you have to rename your, for example XF GTi_MySet.set to XFG_MySet.set. Also be sure to copy them to LFS\data\setups, where they are stored now.

PS: read the thread, as this was already explained several times ;)

damn ill have to replace all my sets? i have 1800 one by one? or anyone knows how to change faster ?

whats up with the new redline thing its stupid once you get to the point where youre suposed to shift up the car cant go any faster thats not realistic imo. The clutch get damaged automaticly on the first shift no matter how you shift (low or high rpm). Other then that the new car is fun to drive and south city looks great.

AndroidXP
10th December 2007, 19:15
That's not damage, that's clutch heat. As long as the bar is still orange, everything is fine.

I had one little run in the new car. I didn't make it very many laps before it started slipping.

Can anyone confirm that it isn't as easy to overheat in the road cars? Definitely shouldn't be as easy to overheat as it was not even using the clutch in the new car with lifting throttle.

I had one little run in the new car. I didn't make it very many laps before it started slipping.Maybe I'm some kind of freak, but I've not managed to cause much damage to mine after a few laps last night.

This morning my G25 arrived and after a lap or two I was used to it...

I'm forced to ask, as everyone seems to be moaning, are you basically flat shifting?

Can anyone confirm that it isn't as easy to overheat in the road cars? Definitely shouldn't be as easy to overheat as it was not even using the clutch in the new car with lifting throttle. The road cars are a bit tricker, and I've not tried them with the clutch, but on the old 2 pedal wheel they weren't too bad.

Nah, my comment you quoted was my first go at the new patch. I quickly had to scrap all ideas of more trying out due to kids fighting, wanting to play on NickJr.com, dinner coming soon, etc. After the kids went to bed, I had no problems with clutch in FBM, FZR, or XFG that I tried. One pixel worth of heat on the F11 display all night.

geeman1
11th December 2007, 13:51
I'm forced to ask, as everyone seems to be moaning, are you basically flat shifting? My thoughts exactly. I think I have now tried almost every car with the new patch and got almost no damage at all to the clutches (unless I really tried).
Probably the people who have problems are infact flatshifting or lifting too little or their timing is off or something.
