LFS also supports some IRC-style commands, such as "/me" (I don't know any others).

While racing: Only if you have a wheel...

After/before race: Easy... :D

Way to chat: See above...

Well you can also chat while racing of you have a joystick *jokingly*
And if you are using a keyboard, it's possible, too, even though you cars will be out of control then :D

I think it's crazy how some people can chat up a storm while driving 150-160-170 mph on the track. And I don't mean just on the long straights either. I've seen folks having complete conversations while out on the track and running some stinkin good times. I can only manage a quick comment once or twice a lap on the longest sections, that is if I don't miss type while flying across the keyboard to say what I want to say. It's just crazy!!!

And I thought it was just me not being able to type and steer.

Mabe they got something like a co-driver that chats for them?

I hardly ever type while racing, I just miss all points, braking, turning, everything...

It's very obvious that you can dictate what ever you want 'said', and a buddy type it while you keep going. Simple, in my opinion, and the only way it can be done, I guess (?).

i usually chat by striking the keyboard in a pre-determined manor to replicate words from the english language.

i also chat while driving round it isnt hard if you can touch type or can drive very well with your elbows :p

I think the master in this regard must be [PMT]Jimi. The guy can type faster than most "offline" typers while doing some pretty close racing :). I tend only to use predefined F keys while I race though :)

I can touch type, which makes it easy - but for the fact that i'm nae holding onto the wheel, so I usualy wait for fast flowing corners or straights.

i dont have a "sorry" macro. so i have to type it out if i accidentally tap someone. Or if someone drives dirty when i try and pass i will give them a warning.

I can barley manage to read the "chat" never mind actually typing some stuff. Every time I try I end up in a bit of a mess. So for me it driving or typing - and I MUCH prefer the driving bit.

I lay one arm on top of my steering wheel to steer, shifting with my ellbow, and typing blind. Easy as hell :D

I only type at pitstops... When I occasionally type during the race it's only on long straights with one hand on the wheel and the other over the keyboard... Sometimes, one sentence needs a few laps to be written... :D

you can set the F keys to say pre-typed things, go into options and theres a button saying somthing like "f keys, 1-8" anyway, click it then click next to it and type what you want, the key next to it is what you press for it to come up.

other than that (i think) its just about typing fast, lol.
