I voted for pretty much everything except ovals and karting tracks (simply because I don't enjoy oval racing and we have no karts to make the tracks worth it).
I did vote for the custom tracks with pre-made parts option too, but it wouldn't work if there weren't a whole load of variables. I do actually have a list of variables written down that would make a decent tool, just in case the Scavier guys want to hear my input :)

Pretty much everything I guess :)
My guess is that they will at least double the tracks in game when S3 is released.

Yes well karting tracks is a nice option for drifting to. but if there will be karts in this game, tracks will be a must :)

Rally/OffRoad/HillClimb/Short.
Anything with some major elevation changes for me. All the current circuits are generally way too flat IMO. Need more cambered corners and crests. I think rally or hillclimb would suffice, but it would be nice to have a proper technical track with the these features.

Normal tracks with wide variety of different kinds of corners and elevation changes. Most important thing is that tracks don't have that artificial "Tilke" feeling and the driving line feels natural.
I think good example are those two corners at Aston National T1, they are there just to cut the "backstraight" in half. I understand that there's not enough room for any different layout but something like tightening radius lefthander follow closely by sharp right on 2nd gear might have been more interesting.
Of current tracks that we have now, Westhill is definately my favorite.

Normal, Long and Short tracks is something I'd like to see in the future of LFS. I'm not into RALLY or Oval tracks, even karting. I'd like to see a decent track, something new.
Primoz
5th December 2007, 18:09
Some normal ones for pickup races and some long ones for endurance racing. For pickup racing long ones really suck. But racing for 3 hours on Blackwood or Kyoto GP is a totally different thing, especially with 20+ cars in 2 classes. Blackwood is just so packed, if you're in a GT2 car, you're being lapped constantly. This is not so on long tracks as the field spreads out a lot more. It also helps if the tracks are wide since that makes more space for manouvers but narrow tracks are much mroe enjoyable in slower cars (Westhill is actually quite boring in GT2s - you must brake for T2, just slightly though, T4, again, slightly, the same story for the chicane, all of them are cleared in 4th gear, then the second chicane is 2nd and 3rd gear, the last turn is 2nd gear again. Most of the circuit is done flatout.).

everything except ovals and banger thingy --> would be cool but with better colision detection

5th December 2007, 21:14
When we get karts, kart tracks. It's like a can of rice pudding and a tin opener. What's the point of having one of them without the other? You can't eat a tin opener and you can't eat rice pudding when it's still in the can, and if you microwave the metal can, well, :schwitz:

Mabye some sort of testing area, uphills, downhills, straights, banked turns.. to test the setups.
But yeah, I voted pretty much for most of them minus the oval.

A road course somewhere with bridges over the sea or something. A mix of village B roads and fast highways would be really fun.
Hill climb tracks for the F08 would be awesome.

Solo stages/hill climbs/point-to-points etc require variety. Without some kind of randomiser/editor/whatever, I'd rather the time was spent making proper racing circuits, since 2 or 3 stages/hills would get overused in no time.

I've got to say something about this post than in all honesty has completely surprised me. I'll admit I think oval racing can be a little lackluster when it comes to skill, entertainment, and the typical LFS community, but I have to say that one of the major problems with the game is the lack, or the non-existence, of a variety of oval tracks. Even though I don't personal see myself on the ovals much, I really respect the art of oval racing. The reason I'm surprised is because the lack of votes for ovals just simply because it's something the game badly NEEDS. I hope the admins realize that even though there are not a large number of oval racers at this point, The introduction of new ovals with help bring forth more of the NASCAR, IRL, or any oval simulation groups to LFS. I'm sure they've thought of all this in the past and probably have so much on the table the hardest part of development is picking out which parts of the game to develop. :D
Anyways, point being. In my eyes the introduction of at least two, if not three of four new oval tracks to the game, is almost a needed step at this point of development. How do you guys feel about trying to bring more of the oval racers to LFS, and in part, turn some of the LFS drivers into oval racers?

Here here. As a retired real life oval tracker, I shed tears of Methanol when Ratbag Games sold out.
With only 2 days unlocked practice, the most skill at Kyota ? is seeing how many times I can spin down the straights in hot lapping.
Hmm, dirt oval would be nice.

1.it is a highway so it should be very stright, the the gear must be higher than 3rd gear(4-7th gear) at all time on track(excluded start, pit & crash)
2.the road in the dark side can changh, no need to make it like how I draw

i like the idea of a long track in SO (for Gtr and formula) but with more curbs tha suggested before. More curbs + lang straight road + wider streets will be fun.
In existing environnement, i hope to see a blackwood GP long version avbout 5 or 6 km with trees on sides and maybe a long tunnel.
Same thing with fernbay: long tracks for GTR and wider roads.
The objectives before new environnements:
A track/environnment for each car class.

Aswell as wanting a new track in general of any type.
I picked 1 mile oval
You should add option 0.5mile Dirt oval to your poll because no dirt tracks on lfs require knobbley tyres, but a all dirt oval would make good use of them :)
Or i wish they would just fix KY oval so its not so wide and fix the turns and the kink on the streight which souldnt be there, and to make it the back streight and make turn 2 the tri oval with the finish line on the turn.
If they was to bring a new track into lfs, i wish they added the Three Sisters Race track neer wigan:
http://www.three-sisters.co.uk/circuit.asp
if you look at the verry long right hander from the top of the pictures to the bottom of the picture, that is a fairly steep down hill and is great for racing.
Its a Carting/Supermoto track, and iv done both there and its fantastic.

Lol exactly what I was thinking. Long tracks require a lot of patience :S. Mistake on first turn = frustration = more wheels broken.
Hillclimb/downhill seems to be one of the favorites and I honestly would love to see that. Hopefully the devs look at this thread and take it under consideration :D.

Just make a Bathurst style track then - up and down with a big height difference. Something like 100 meters would be brutal.

If we got Bathurst (or there was a chance of someone making it) I'd happily drive up there (3 hours, but in my car, who cares) and take as many photo's and measurements they could possibly want.

Wel me and scawen are working together to add some new track! No joke.. :) just want to see the opinion of all LFS users! and maybe if scawen or any def see this topic. they have a clear view what we want. :)

I belive that Scawen and the rest of the bunch know what people want, and they probally are reading most of the things that are said on the forum.
When that is said, they have replied many times with their veiw on mod`ing and such. And I belive that no matter how much we scream out and ask for a type of track we want we just have to wait and see what they deside making into the game. They are not ignorant, they just like to work their way, meaning they add contest to the game that they want, rather than hearing on all the whining from the community to add drift cars and nascar cars, aswell as some fantasy tracks with cliffs and ramps aswell as some real racing circut :)
I highly doubt that we`ll see a real track in LFS, mainly because of lisence and such, and because the dev`s mosly like to add fantasy things that is from their imagination. And so far it`s been very good, so just wait, they`ll add some nice things in the future, we will be rewarded for patient :)
henrico-20-
16th December 2007, 19:41
yes thats treu! and it is the best way to do it your way. otherwise you lose all the fun in creating things.
I dont think that we will see real tracks in LFS to, maybe some small tracks that is not verry known by people with no world wide fame like spa, silverstone, le mans. The smaller unknown tracks maybe don't ask money or as much as fameous tracks for a license. so if there would be a real life track, i think that such track make the most chance.
but we will see ;)

Rally stages - because Richard Burns is little bit old sim and LFS looks to be good real sim for rally fans.
Hill climb since I come from Czech, where hill climb has a long tradition (Ecce homo hill climb is very known).
Rallycross - for me it´s the best driving experience combined with a lot of fun. Tarmac race is just on concentration and driving just on the edge. Slides are not a fault on rallycross like on tarmac tracks is, and rally drivers must be good on both surfaces, gravel and tarmac. I´m missing more rallycross tracks in LFS. Just 2 tracks (+REVs) is nearly nothing:shrug:.

The long tunnel sounds really nice, wide, with some bends that would make it very appealing visually i guess.
In my oppinion, now LFS could use a few long tracks like nordschleife/nurburgring. That would make things interesting ... even a 5 lap race would be very unpredictable and would keep people driving for a long time :D

ya, very long, but it won't take too more.
because half of it is highway, & it got a crazy long stright road(I think FZR can higher than 300km/h here, & we can look forward that BF1 can get near to 400), we can make a setup match to challenge the Max speed.
although the other part is hill road, it's also get many stright road(it is just very tight), so, i think that it will take around 10-15min per lap with FZR.

Could we have ... :D
A 'Green Hell' style of track, make it look and feel like the Nurburgring, but an original layout, i know the LFS team are great at making sweeping, flowing tracks (just look at the last few turns of Blackwood GP) so maybe this kind of thing would suit LFS well?? :)
Or perhaps on a less grand scale, we could have a sort of run down club circuit, a bit out of date if you know what I mean, with barriers close to the track and a bumpy surface.

I know roughly what racing's about. So I voted for all except the ovals! :D
except that Ovals were at the dawn of racing in europe as well
Brooklands and a few other in the UK come to mind:tilt:

i recommend Ascari Race Resort, fantastic circuit that has been designed in the flows of the spanish nature :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XybpE4ayZs

Or Paul Ricard, the High Tech Test Track, suits very good with LFS cause of the many tracklayouts :D about 130 variations...

But maybe normal street, without any crash barriers, can be turn out great  highway, in the city (free roam), the countryside etc, just cruising

i think Paul Ricard is one of the most ugly racing circuits in the world! no grass or gravel at all only tarmac with ugly bleu lines.. in this way there is no exitement anymore at the track! you don't have to be careful to exit a track.. it doesnt matter anymore if you get off the track, you can contineu the race! also boring for the crowd i think.

i actually want pikes peak except i want it to be a race down AND up, the downhills section might even the playing fields a little, seeing that downhill courses are based mainly upon skills

actually, i would like a whole road course set...
like rally style roads...
so there are snow stages, dirt stages, mud stages, and asphault stages(touge), and rain stages(slick pavement) and i hope that there would be a general shape, except, that details are randomly generated...(like 3 variations for a section, so 3^n tracks for a perticular stage), and to make it hard... there will be no luxory of a navagator...
btw, i found out that the "gutter hook" move from initial d is a real life rally technique... used on asphault stages

top 5 so far:
1 = long track new base
2 = rally/hillclimb stages
3 = normal track new base
4 = short track new base
5 = track editor
they can add number 1, 3, 4 together on a new base! :D

A lot of you are saying that their are no karts in the game. But on the LFS website, the MRT looks a lot like a kart. And on youtube videos, it is classified as a kart in most cases. So, why is it not a kart?

Have you read the text from the MRT5 on the LFS website?
Based on the real MRT5 built by the McGill Racing Team and competing in the Formula SAE championship this lightweight car is ideal for autocross tracks and slow configurations. The MRT5 is fun to drive and reminds you of a kart although it has more power and a differential.
So it isn't a kart.
I'd like to see some 100%-rallycross-tracks. These three in Blackwood and Fern Bay are not enough.
I've voted for a long track, btw. it might be interesting for all those Nordschleife fans ;). Chris Harris on this track, quite nice view from the car:

Hillclimbs and rally stages are the most appealing for me. Dirt hillclimbs, sure, but I would be most interested in tarmac hillclimbs :D As for rally stages, dirt and tarmac, it's all good!
For point to point stages like hillclimbs and rally I suppose starting would be done in a similar way to autocross, with a number of seconds between starters.
