View Full Version : aero effect too weak?

i think the aero effect on the GTR cars is too weak, and there seem to be no bottom-tray effect.

evidence 1 - driving FZR on city towncourse
try the last corner (high speed, 140kph+), changing wings does little to the handling, but changing suspension has apparent effect on handling.

evidence 2 - jacking up the front
in endurance oval race, some people jack up the front and apply zero wings in order to achieve stable and fast driving. as a matter of fact, they can achieve 290kph top speed. with realistic setup, u can't beat their time. imo with the jacked up front end, the car should fly.

evidence 3 - body height
10cm+ of ground clearance is usually better than 6cm of ground clearance, even on flat track. :pillepall

what do u think?

Lots of people have pointed out the aero needs work, it is not perfect right now. Hopefully in some patch it can be fixed, im not liking it much either... but we gotta deal with what we have now

btw, you're a demo user???????

Aero is 100% fine and fully implemented using real time CFD for people that don't hack LFS. It's a routine Scawen put in - if the exe thinks it's been hacked, then it reverts to 'idiot' mode.

LOL...... yup, it is very strange that a demo racer knows about aero physics that is applicable only on S2 FULL cars... :pillepall But in the real, you can't know if he hacked LFS, he might have seen this at his friend PC with legal S2 licence... :scratchch

1. Don't hack LFS

2. There is a known problem with jacking the front end up, Scawen has already agreed with this.

3. GT cars are heavy (1100 kg ish) and are not ground effect cars in the sense of a single seater or Group C car. The road cars they are based on are not designed to generate downforce, they have to do this through massive wings air dams and diffusers.
