Same set up as above but with about 60% force setting in the game.
Sometimes I think that might be a little too heavy, but sometimes not :-)

I thought my FF strength was low compared to most people, but if I turn it up that high, it can rip the wheel right off my desk LOL.

profiler setup same as above but with only 400degree lock.

60-70% force with road cars and 45-50% with single seaters.

I don't know if the DFP's FF is as tough as black MOMO's but how can you drive with those settings? I have ingame FF at 25-35 % and profiler settings to 45 %. Sometimes it still feels too heavy. But as I said I have black MOMO...

i never used a momo but at least compared to the ffgp the dfp is extremely strong
i just happen to like the feeling of having to fight the fo8 (heaviest steering as far as i can tell) a little and i find the strong ff gives more hints to whats happening than a weak one

I used around the same ff on the momo, I think they're similar. I don't know why people use so much ff (like over 75), it feels unrealistic to me. :)

I am totally with you!!! I have a Momo and run the profiler at 65% I think, and ingame is 25-65%. My bro-in-law has the blue Driving Force (NOT Pro) and runs 100 and 100. It rips the wheel out of my hands!!

I don't know about race cars, but I've never driven a real car with that much force on the wheel, so very unrealistic if you ask me.

The DFP has very strong FF. I really have to crank the clamps up tight to stop the FF dragging the wheel off the desk when I fight it.

As others have said, I like to fight the wheel. Makes up for the lack of other feelings your body goes through. Also I find I dont try to resist the FF that much.

When the back wheels go then you need to counter steer but as the front wheels will track to where they would like to be to counter. So I let the wheel tell me when to counter and by how much and just correct near the end of the wheel tracking the fronts when you need to make the corrections.

I find it also lets me feel the front wheels giving out better with FWD cars with harder FF.

what do you put your ingame wheel turning radius to?

do you put it any higher than default templates with 720°?

Set your DFP to 720 and wheel comp to 1 and you never have to change the DFP setting. It will always match the wheel of the car you are in. Although you will be able to turn up to 720deg it just doesnt do anything after the lock of the current car

is there a reason you use 4.40 instead of 4.60?

I strongly recommend an update, the 4.60 driver is so much better!

16x higher resolution, more subtle FFB, 2 more buttons and direct control over the wheel turn.

the 4.40 driver had a resolution of 1024 stepson the steering axis (like the other logitech wheels), while the 4.60 driver has over 16000 steps. you see?:smileypul

In profiler:
Overall effect strenght 35%

Everything else at 0%

And wheel degrees is 720, but I'm about to give up, too much turning needed to enjoy driving.

In game force is around 14-25% depending from car.

Still steering is bit too sticky and inner wheel effects are not present always, even with Microsoft wheel they were. In overall Microsoft wheel had better forces in LFS than DFP, it was not so sticky.

Quick related question: Once you're running LFS can you switch profiles in the profiler and it updates the controls in-game, or do you have to shut LFS down to change profiles?

I think I have changed settings in the profiler on the fly, can't be sure of that. I know I've changed button mapping. As for switching the actual profile, can you disable having it automatically open LFS in the profile set for that? Or would you end up openning a 2nd LFS session, not sure.

I'm just thinking in terms of the quickest/easiest way of changing the steering lock and the shifter assignments depending on what car I'm using. I'd forgotten that it saves a profile for each game, rather than arbitrary profiles that you can choose from.

Anybody have a good solution for this?

You might as well put it on 720, since none of the cars have more than 720 degrees of steering lock anyway, that way your wheel won't continue turning, even when the one in game has stopped.

Yeah but then I'll have a bunch of "spare" rotation that does nothing when driving the MRT etc. I was hoping for a way to switch it on the fly.

inCogNito
7th December 2005, 20:13
leave it at 900° with wheel compensation at 1.0 and you should always have the same rotation like the ingame wheel.

oh, whoops. I was responding to Vale, not you. But yes, you can change rotation in the profiler on the fly. I don't even use the logi one, I just use hte windows game controller thing, you can do everything from there and not worry about saving profiles for different games.
