Shift up/down on axes?

I use the driving force wheel and was trying to set up my usb Saitek Cyborg to act as a sequential gear shift. The problem is while the cyborg is recognised by LFS (axes 7 I think), there is no option to shift up & down under AXES/FF. I can still only choose buttons for this.
Is there any way to change this?

Sorry if this is a bit rambling, but any advise would be appreciated.

IIRC you can get something called joy2key that allows axes to be mapped to keystrokes. A quick google should confirm that if it's correct.
