i would like to know if you can change the way the game accepts ip address's?

i like to play against a mate over the net without the overheads of the internet so we usually we use a program called hamachi for a virtual Lan network but LFS does't not accept the ip it uses, so therefore for us to play we have to VPN and that's a pain in the ars with all the firewalls and protection needed nowadays.

LFS will only accept the normal LAN IP address ranges for LAN mode. Playing over the Internet requires Internet mode which goes through the master server.

tee-hee! i think there's a reason scawen doesn't allow the weird hamachi ranges. don't you?

Hamachi IS a VPN (just very simplified). So your comment is slightly crap tbh.

Interestingly enough any VPN works over the internet (or any connection between 2 pcs not physically connected - duh), with encryption overheads increasing the latency more than playing on a normal server. So I'm obviously not understanding the point. I'm also afraid that Scawen is unlikely to change this "feature".

A password protecte server should do the trick, hence the "private" tag ;)
There is no reason why anyone would prefer a VPN over the online system we have now due to increased lag etc. In combination with the tag under your name saying "Demo racer", allbeit that tag could be bugged, I think it is quite safe to assume that you intended to unlock the S2 content illegaly...

Go spend the few bucks needed for LfS S2 to support the devs. They do deserve them.
