Pre-race discussion for Round 2 of the RSSC2 here.

I've just started to do some laps round here. The FZ50 seems to have dropped it's whale abilities and I can do a 1:32, with space to go faster.

If anyone wants to join me, server is Dom's LFS in red, password will be rsscprac

I can only take like 4 people btw, so don't expect a heaving server :)

Tried to join you Dom, but could not find your server.

The Heart of Racing server is now also set to this combo btw. Managed a low 1:30 after some laps. My pb around here is 1:28.9 but thats a loong time ago.

Yeah it's only a temporary server, only host it at certain times :x

all i can say is 32 cars on that track sit back and watch the pile ups lol

FZ5 is gonna get it's ass handed to it. Thats provided the RAC drivers don't end up needing the RAC after T1.

So it's up to us drivers to make sure that doesn't happen :thumb:

Don't be so sure about the FZ5 having it's ass handed to it, it didn't last year, infact, I think every race last year was fairly even, apart from one Alien in an FZ5.

Popped on last night just to get an idea of my speed. Consistently doing low 1.30s with the odd high 1.29, room for improvement though I think.

danowat
20th July 2007, 07:47
We "may" have an issue at South Town, I have just this morning been informed that ALL South City tracks have a 30 car driver limit.

Unless this is fixed before the event, only 30 drivers will be able to compete, if there is more than 30 drivers on race day, then I'll have to drop two :(

teaz-R
20th July 2007, 09:40
I'd say let the qualifying sort that out for you

danowat
20th July 2007, 09:41
Yeah, we'll wait and see how many turn up, it might not be a problem.

That's me screwed ;)

But seriously, means 2x qualifying sessions?

danowat

Don't worry, if we have a problem, I'll sort it on the night.

Ditto. Hopefully we'll be a bit more competative at the next event!

I seem to be getting low to mid 31's atm, but there is room for improvement on my setup i think.

DeKo
24th July 2007, 19:20
any chance the server could be set to this combo? :)

danowat
24th July 2007, 19:45
Done....

As for times, consistant high 1:29's, probably get down to 1:28's when I have developed the setup a bit further :)

elkdanger
25th July 2007, 07:39
Was working on my setup last night and started getting some mid 1:28's; not sure how consistant that'll be over 18 laps though. I can imagine my race pace will be somewhere in the 29's/30's.

Once again, looking forward to this race :D

GFresh

Just tried your setup Dan, it knocked 2 secs a lap off my time, now getting consistant low to mid 29's :thumb:
Although it's getting a little slippery from 10 laps onward, i was hotlapping though so maybe at race pace it will be fine for the distance.

danowat
30th July 2007, 06:19
Yeah, tyre conservation is going to be a big part of driving the FZ5 at South City.

Should be a good round hopefully :)

spankmeyer
31st July 2007, 07:14
Doesn't look too promising for me: Nailed a 1:29.02 last week, but now struggling to get under 30-second mark. And my G25 shifter likes to jump out from 2nd gear to 4th during slow corners.

Fail.

But hopefully some n00b will take out half of the field in T1 and I'll cruise control to podium. :thumb:

danowat
31st July 2007, 07:18
Maintaining 1:30 over the whole race wouldn't be a disaster at all, this is South City, and anything can happen there, tyres are going to play a big part in it too I think.

I will be sending out all race information to your PM boxes tomorrow sometime, so keep an eye out :)

mogster
31st July 2007, 17:31
I just did the 18 laps. 1:27.06 for being the best, mid 1:27 the avarage. Tires get pretty hot but still they are quite doable. I'll post the setup when it's more ready.

Quietus

Scary track... I'm well of the pace (which never ceases to scare me...), but i'm still sticking to keeping rubber side down rather than actually being anywhere near the points.

Reckon this one will be good blue flag practice for me! :shy:

Gotta say, i'll be very suprised if the City race doesn't have a big incident at some point.

Lets hope not hey :)

All information for round 2 has been sent out, please post if....

A) You haven't received it
B) You aren't available to race.

See you all tomorrow evening :)

My local telephone exchange has been down since 10pm last night. I'm not able to get an ETA for when it'll be working again. I'll hopefully find out more before I leave work today. Fingers crossed, I'll be connected again for tonight.

'allo

I'm definitely around for this race tonight, but I might not be able to appear on the server until 7:35pm at the latest. Obviously qualifying will have started by then - is that ok?

I just have something I have to do before race start, thats all :(

I couldn't get to grips with the RAC's Understeer to Oversteer Handling and just wasn't on the edge in a GOOD way, span coming up to the tight hairpin, and slammed into the inside almost hitting a guy, i wanted to continue even with my damage, so i took it back to the pits, only to hit the razor sharp curbs that flipped me once again. luckily, on the inside of the pit barrier, unluckily, on my 'roof'

Quote from rules & common sense:

- Remember to close all unnecessary programs and websites in the background (like MSN, LFS World etc.) before you race! Because these things take away a bit of your Internet bandwidth and this could cause lag (timeouts) for you and the other racers on a server.

GFresh
2nd August 2007, 19:52

It's not like you can use MSN while you race is it, perhaps you should just close it before your race next time. Also, you are putting other peoples race in jeopardy as you are a lot more likely to lag.

LFSn00b
2nd August 2007, 20:27
Sorry, i can do nothing for the lag, since i don't own the ISP/Connection thingy(Stupid shared connections).

Also, i put my MSN appear as offline - i guess they would be wise and not to msg me.

GFresh
2nd August 2007, 20:38
Just because you change your status to 'Appear Offline' doesn't mean it suspends all activity to the net, you should just play it safe and close programs you cannot use whilst racing.

BlueFlame
2nd August 2007, 20:42
MSN only lags certain people though, its not THAT bad but like i said, for some it is, especially when their game temp freezes, when someone messages them, as for XFIRE, thats MADE for running in the background of a game, i just don't run it when im playing a bit more seriously, because i have like 400 friends on it, and there is always some crazy german, asking 'ARE YOU REALLY GAY? KEKEKE'

AntiViruses, are probobly the WORST things to run in the background, McAffee, Norton, they are BIG memory users, and Norton especially never ****s off when you tell it, its a waste of time, you may as well type 'i am a gay' in the CMD window and you would eliminate more viruses! :D
