Nice interview , :)
thank you :P
I am also planning on doing a full review of the game once the final version of S2 is released. If you guys have any more questions or comments about the interview, feel free to tell me here or on the bytesector forums.

Well done on the interview. Though:
"..and can be downloaded for free on their website."
That might give people the wrong impression. You can (just as any other game) play the demo for free or pay for full content.
Yes you can download the whole package with S2, but it's just a demo if you dont unlock it with a purchased license.

Great review :) although it underestimates the importance of setup department:
LFS ships with very good and very driveable setups. I haven’t found much reason to change much in the default setups but you can adjust things like camber, suspension, gearing, brake balance and down force to mention just a few of the options.

I was attending a car show a couple of months ago here in NZ. Most of the cars there were ricey show car bullshit... One fellow however, had some sit in f1-style simulators setup, and a big projector screen on spectate mode watching the racers... And what game was he using to demo his simulators? Why LFS ofcourse! I naturally put down my $5 and had a race, and put on a drift show for the spectators which went down rather well (i drew a pretty freaking big crowd!). After that the fellow that was running the simulators told me to stay put because he wanted to race me, hah! Was a pretty close race, but i pulled ahead right at the end to take the win.
Here ends my ego-inflating story :). Was very very cool to see LFS somewhere other than my study-room however.

Sounds like this company: http://www.trinity-racing.com/
Was it them? If so, thats crazy... because I just saw them at the Champ Car - San Jose GP. But they were playing GPL and rFactor :( But some LFS fans were there :) And they agreed that with LFS loaded up, it would've been a better example of a simulation.
I have yet to see a LFS on-show display. Maybe I'll have to put together one someday. Would be cool if LFS was at E3 someday :) (only an hours flight away)

Jardier from Czech e-Racing Team, who also drives in real professional races, has been interviewed on TV about Live For Speed. The video has about 5 minutes. I've made a translation to english subtitles, so it shouldn't be hard to understand what they're talking about :tilt:
The video can be downloaded from liveforspeed.cz:
http://www.liveforspeed.cz/downloads/Ocko_breakout_jardier_lfs.mpg
English subtitles here:

note:
You need MPEG2 to play this video. If you'll encounter some codec issues, download MPEG2 decoder (http://manga.sk/Pictures/tmp/MPGDec.zip) (unzip the file and run register.bat, to uninstall execute unregister.bat).

Yes, 91/100
EDIT: The English summary:
Live For Speed has to be one of the top Internet racing simulations for PC at the moment. The level of realism may scare you away at first, but the game gets better and better the more you learn it. S2 now has the eagerly-awaited new cars and tracks. Best of all, you can find now some formula cars with realistic aerodynamics implemented. The game - no sorry, 22-car-on-grid simulation - has a realistic physics engine which can give you a challenge for countless hours. The physics engine is one of LFS's best features. However, the game does not compare to other products on the market in terms of the audiovisual experience, due to modest engine sounds and graphic design. You can buy the game from www.liveforspeed.net and support the independent development team. Try the demo first and fall in love, I know I did.

Your asking for help in the entirely wrong section of the forum, should post technical related questions in the "Technical Assistance" subforum :tilt:

Can you post some more info? Like what screen mode you are using, operating system, etc.. and post it in a new thread under the above subforum so it doesn't clutter up this thread (which is unrelated)...

The local fox affiliate paid us a visit to talk about the business we're building using LFS and the Force Dynamcs 301. Now I know that whenever you see a story on the news, you're getting a lot of quotes out of the overall context. The way it was cut I feel it does make us sound like idiots in places to anyone who is into racing. Ho hum. :)

I hope i will be visited by a TV-station very soon, they has shown some interest in a mail.
Also a newspaper are ready for something.
Jason Watt former Formel 3000 driver has tried LFS and he thinks its a great game, but he is in a wheel chair after an accident, and can`t really play LFS.
Right now my team mate Who Cares (Johnny S. Nielsen) are visiting Jason and making an interview for LFS.dk.
I will try to get Jan Magnussen to drive LFS later in the year, if he can/will.

Jason has tried it with the Thrustmaster if i remember corrects, but my team mate Johnny, knows more about it than me.. but its not the same feelings as pedals..
Den Blå Avis has a paper who is a buy and sell paper. It`s for free now as they are more minded for running their online business..

The AVSIM Online News:
Fun on Four Wheels!
http://avsim.com/images/common/sep_bar.gif

Maybe the idea of driving a "Follow Me" car round an airport doesn't do it for you? Maybe you want something with four wheels and no wings, but a bit faster than the pushback tug? Feelthere may have just the thing for you, with their Live for Speed "Ultimate Racing Simulator".
Described as a "serious racing simulator. No arcade modes, no steering aids - YOU have to do the driving", you can race against the AI but the real fun is to be found online, in multiplayer mode.
To find out more, head down the back straight, through the chicane, and into the Feelthere Website (http://www.feelthere.com/2005/lfs.html).
Found it on: http://www.avsim.com/
A bit strange that they say it's "their" simulation...

8th August 2007, 23:16
I like that they're promoting LFS, but it's indeed a bit strange that they make it seem like it's their sim. Apart from the "For support please visit LFS", they give no credit.
Anyone that didn't know LFS yet will think Feelthere made the sim by looking at the page.

Intel Racing Tour have finally landed in Poland :)
From what I have heard, the concept is similar to german's edition. You have to drive 2 laps in BF1 on Aston National and best lap counts (so really only the second one). Of course, the main price is connected with Robert Kubica, as authors of best lap times from 5 cities around Poland, will have an occasion to meet with him at karting circuit. There are also some high-end computers from Intel to be given for the fastest womens, that will take part in competition.
More info (in polish language only) here: http://www.intelracing.wp.pl/
So, yet again 1:0 for LFS vs rFactor

Well, there's plenty of people watching this show and also plenty of people who are into racing know Olav Mol, the guest. People that are into racing are the target group for LFS. And you can bet also plenty of people watched the show especially because of Olav being in it.

:D today at the broadcast of the last F1 grand prix they showed that simulator with LFS again :D now you can win a day with the simulator and with Christian Albers to give you tips.. but if an LFS race wins that, Christian will be the one that will receive the tips :p

I saw it too...
I already was confused a bit... But I really thought I saw LFS (BF1 @ BLGP (BF1@BLGP))
anyways, I was wondering... Does anyone know if they use LFS tracks or homemade tracks in the BMW team...? (as in, do THEY mod?)

Christijan Albers? Hahaha, that guy will probably give you tips how to always take out the gaspump from your fueltank before driving off.
I'm sure he learnt a good valueble lesson from his little 'accident'.

That's awesome. I really wonder though, coming from a G25, focusing alot on the feedback through your hands. Would a motion rig like that just be sensory overload?

Dunno. There where just too much people waiting so i couldn't try it.
Sadly there was a Guy guarding the Host PC. Placing a few ramps and/or Red-white Barriers on the Backstraight and watching the next unsuspecting Driver must be funny. :D

Maybe this is a downside of Scavier not really "promoting" the game... dunno how free the EULA or whatever is what comes to using it on motion sims but obviously something should be clarified when it reguarly happens that the motion rig developer takes credits for the game too.
This Festo is especially interesting, on the old video their side (http://www.festo.com/INetDomino/coorp_sites/en/ded5d1663e4760f1c12572d00035d10d.htm) (posted on this thread earlier) they have also changed the Blackwood ad banners to "Festo" banners. :really:

www.driftingo.pl (http://www.driftingo.pl/) - On the front page of european's biggest drift vortal you can see news about polish lfs event sponsored by driftingo.
Direct link to the news: http://driftingo.pl/News/exeConcrete/Treningi-Wirtualne,Driftingo.pl-LFS-Drift-Challenge-2007---Oficjalny-trening-przed-zawodami,26
Hopefully next year I will be organising a full drifting season in Poland, also supported by driftingo.
The news is only on polish version of site, because the event is local. But I still think this is a nice advertisement.
There will be also a report of full event(The news up there is just a report from official practice). Maybe we will make reports from international lfs drifting events too.

Lol, from the page about the Festo simulating chair:
floods the driver with stellar, race-tuned engine and exhaust sounds
Well at least somebody likes LFS's sounds! :)
What's funnier is that in the video on the page, you can tell that they're using the old sounds.

Did also you notice in the Festo video, they used the G25 but they had scraped off the Logitech logo from the steering wheel, and the driver was "hiding" the trademark red buttons as well. Looks really strange. :really:
The motion stuff looks like a dumbed down version of Force Dynamics. I bet they have done nothing and just bought a shitload of "junk" to sell under a fake name.

I don't know if anyone else did, but I contacted the Design World publication editor. I had a pleasant back/forth with the guy, who promised to make changes to the online publication. That appeared in a statement at the top of the page, with a link to lfs.net.
I don't want to suggest that FESTO were deliberately trying to mislead, and it could all have been an error or misunderstanding in the transfer from company to publication, but whether deliberate or not, I felt that it was inappropriate to leave it unaddressed. LFS is an indy product, and it needs all the recognition it can get. If people see the FESTO seat and like the car simulator aspect of it, but can't afford the whole package, why should LFS be denied their opportunity for a sale?

Live for Speed is featured in the most current issue of the German GameStar magazine. It is featured in there among other games in the first article about the current GameStar League season.
Picture of the article can be found here: http://static.4players.de/lfs-attachments/files/img.php_240.jpg (Picture made by Edvin "TNH" Zec of #low-racing)
Translation (of the relevant parts):
The Fanatec Live for Speed premier league found its 30 elite drivers. In a dramatic qualification they were able to secure their place in the highest class of the GameStar League. In the first of 2 qualification groups, GT-A, The two LFS-drivers Hendrik von Eye and Johannes Scheuerle grimly fought for the first place - in the end, von Eye was able to claim it for him. In the second group, GT-B, things happened to be nothing less serious: With Nils Naujoks, one of the best LfS drivers in the world was on first place here. The level of skill in the qualification was generally very high: the driver on 16th place only missed qualification by a narrow 20 points.
[[ Stuff about money here; this season of GSL issues more than 30k € worth of cash- and non-cash-prizes; every driver who participates gets money for every race he/she participated in ]]
Game-TV broadcasts the thrilling matches live! The precise broadcast plan is accessible on the internet at www.game-tv.com. We wish the best of luck to all participants - and we hope our spectators will have a lot of fun.
