I'm looking for the name of a car movie.....

i'll tell you what i can remember.

it's about a car enthusiast who just wants to race his race car ONE MORE TIME but gas isn't produced anymore. he's gone around syphoning the bottoms of storage tanks from gas stations to save up some fuel.

eventually he gets out onto the road and starts tearing it up! the trouble is, the cops have no fuel to chase him.

they send up an ex fighter jet pilot to shoot him but once he gets into the air he's so thrilled to be flying again (another gear head) that he just flys around.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

no. this movie isn't set in a post apocalyptic world. and as strange as it sounds, gas is more rare in this movie than mad max.

i don't remember anyone in it, but one thing more i can say is that i saw it in 1993 and it was OLD then. i'd say it was from the seventies.
