View Full Version : Glare on windshield...

Check out Tukko's avatar graphic. I know sun glare's been bought up before for improvements, but the suggestion was glare radiating outwards from the sun, not reflecting off surfaces like a windshield (atleast, I couldn't find anything about that). I would actually like to see both, but I think that Tucco's added bit of glow looks fantastic, and would make a great graphical addition to the game.

I don't think DX8 has that? Does it? Bloom is DX9 stuff rite? Would be cool if lfs would move to DX9, but I guess it's pretty hard :/

Yeah, just a tad of bloom. It's visible in a game like Stalker in DX8 mode, but maybe they're using another technique with looks similar. I'm not suggesting that all lightly coloured surfaces receive bloom (games like Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 I think do this, looks awful), probably just the windshields of cars, and it would only be visible at the correct angle, so the effect is like a quick flash when a car goes round a corner.

Agree with Electrik kar - if is done properly (which this being lfs it will lol) then yes +1.

i get your drift. it should definitely be material dependant, else it would probaly end up looking like another far cry clone. material dependant, it would only glow up on shiny surfaces such as metal, glass, carbonfibre etc.

Heh, I was thinking of also suggesting

"shiny surfaces such as metal, glass, carbonfibre etc."

But I thought the next few posts might have people saying 'omg, you want shinier cars? Go play NFS' :D

haha, very likely. didn't even think of it in that way. well, people seem to understand the suggestion, without it being overdone. :thumb:
