View Full Version : W39 stress test

Scawen
1st June 2007, 16:52
Hello racers. As you know, we managed to find some issues with W38 under extreme testing yesterday.

Now we have a new update W39 and would like to test with large numbers joining at once, to see if it works ok.

The patch is here :

http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=25134

We'll remove the password on "Bug Test server" at 18:00 BST (i.e. 19:00 CET).

Keep getting "Connection Queue Full"

how long is the allowed queue ?

wien
1st June 2007, 17:07
Hmm. Was at the back of a 14 people strong queue, but when it was my turn I just got a "Did not receive guest info". Can't try again though since the queue is full. (Which is a good thing I guess. :))

1st June 2007, 17:11
Ok, first off, this skin downloading before entering a server is a bad idea...
I was queing from 15 th position, than when it was my turn, "didn't recieve server info" (or something like that, sorry, i am on serbian language)...
Than a second try, i got "didn't recieve OK" (again raugh translation) i will switch to English :)

Yaamboo

Too bad we couldn't use this to stress test some popular insim apps now, like see if LFS spectator would work under these conditions.

I was on the queing, but when i was on number one i got unexpected packet size.. now its full

wien

Too bad we couldn't use this to stress test some popular insim apps now, like see if LFS spectator would work under these conditions. That wouldn't be a good idea. You have to keep the number of variables to a minimum when testing stuff like this. But I'm sure people would be willing to help with a dedicated session for that. :)

Same as last night for me. Lost connection after a minute or two.

I don't get it, the server had a nice ping of about 30 when I went to click join and then once in the server my ping bar thingy was going sky high.

8mb broadband my arse. :(

Boris Lozac

The server has seemingly died.

Or is it merely resting after a long squark?

Madman_CZ
1st June 2007, 17:27
Yep....

how long does it take you to join the server? when i was queuing it took roughly around 40 seconds to get in.... and once it actually disconnected me when I got down to one.

tristancliffe
1st June 2007, 17:28
New one up again (I think)

Yaamboo

on reconnect i got 'user already online'
then the server was gone..

Boris Lozac
1st June 2007, 17:29
While this a great test and definately it will improve LFS experience, can you actually imagine an ocasion where 200 people are trying to enter the same server in the same time? :)

Server #2
I was 4th on the queue, then it was my turn and finally I got "Did not recieve messages from all players" message. Later I saw "Error while waiting for reply", probably because server went offline. Is the queue's length 20? Sure it could be longer!?

GeForz

Thank you for the testing.

I have the information I need, you are welcome to keep testing of course and if anything goes wrong, Franky will sent me the debug logs.

Anyway, I know that things can still go wrong and eventually cause that overflow. I don't think it's a new issue, I think it is just made more likely to go wrong when you have 47 connections and people leaving and joining all the time.

I'm going to close this thread now, if you want to comment more, I'll read up on the test patch W39 thread in the test patch forum.
