View Full Version : Spooky shadowing and unreadeble text

I am having problems with the text in LFS - some of it makes shadows, with both look ugly, but it is also sometimes hard to read what the text says.
The list with online games has e.g. these dots that shows what cars you can use on the server. But it is impossible to read the headlines (the car names) standing above the dots.
And in the game when playing the drivers list text looks spooky and hard to read, because of the "shadows".
What shall I do to fix this problem - its quite annoying :Looking_a
Thank you

I doesn't help changing the resolution.

Post a screenshot of your problem... your description left me in the dark.

Screenshot uploaded. What the text looks like on those is what it is in the menues as well.

Have you installed the Test Patch P4? If not, do it, and see if the problem persists.
Also it might be the mipmap settings of your graphic cards drivers. Go to the settings of your card and try turning the mipmap settings from optimal performace to balanced or even better. This should not hit the performance too much but has a large impact on visuals.
If those two points don't help, I guess someone more knowledgeable should answer this :D

I appreciate your help - but it didn't work. I am already running the latest patch, but the mipmap-settings did not fix it.
But what is more spooky is, that for a couple of days ago the text in the game was really clear - like it should be. And one time I fixed the problem with the server list by chaging something vertical. But when I started the game later, the server list problem was there again.
But I know it is possible for me to see clear text - but I don't know how. And what is changed since it doesn't work anymore :-(

It seems like the problem is fixed. I might be because i've been changing between full screen-mode and almost full screen-mode. The vertical-something-settings in options might be the solution.

Vertical sync? I'd actually be very surprised if that worked!

Well - I don't know what it means actually - but it fixed the problem - although I think that the almost full-screen-mode might have an influence as well...

This looks exactly the same as the problem i had with my Radeon 9250.
Try my solution offered in this thread :

Thanks for you reply - it is exactly the same problem. I have tried the slider-trick, but it didn't really help it. I've found out, that sometimes I can change it by restarting the game and doing something with the vertical-somethingIcannotremember in the options-menu. But it's a spooky problem, because sometimes the text looks fine and sometimes it doesn't.

Do you play in Windowed mode sometimes?
Try pressing Shift+F4 to swap between fullscreen and windowed. What happens?

Well I've tried to maximise the window, but I think the problem is, when I am searching for servers, then it makes the gaming window smaller and "windows"-stylish and when I join a server i goes back to full screen, but that disappeares my text.
But sometimes I am able to solve the problem by changing the vertical sync-option from yes to no - or vice versa (I just have to change the present setting to the opposite)... Very tricky stuff...
