Freeze and comp lock-up pls help

hi,
love the game, worked flawlessly. I bought a logitech game pad, and love
analog controls. The problem is every third race or so, the game freezes and locks the comp up (the only game ever to totally lock up, i have to turn computer off!) Forgive me if this is old news, I did hunt around for info but found only wheel issues. So, is it the controller? The patch? What do i do? Because i'm a couple of hard restarts away from putting this game on the "shelf"

Have you overclocked the CPU/GPU? How old/cluttered is your XP install, is it stable? Do you turn off other apps before launching LFS?

If you used the drivers supplied on a CD with the gamepad, uninstall them and download the latest ones from the logitech website.

Some older revisions were known to cause problems. Especially "rumble" or "force" enabled ones.

It happens to me also from time to time to me.
The screen locks and the sound is having a constant loop.
It doesn't seem to be hardware related, and it's not from the current patch either.

I haven't found out a pattern that causes it, but I think it happens more often when I change the cars/tracks/setups all the time, almost like it has something to do with mouse clicks, but I can't really determine the true cause.

I have found out though that if you press ctrl-shift and esc immediatelly after the freeze happens, 9 out of 10 times you 'll bring the task manager in front and then you can end the LFS process from there, saving the hard reset. Then you can restart LFS and continue playing, cause the computer is just fine, no need even for soft reset.
