Hi All,

Just been reading/searching the forums for help on setting up the dedicated host, but can't find anything regarding setting/throttling bandwidth.

In-game Server setup allows you to set the max upload kb/s, but there's no mention in the readme.txt or setup.cfg for the dedi host..

Can someone point out the obvious to me please.. :D

cheers,
sweeney

There should be an option for packet/second too. :)

from the readme.txt included with the dedi:

/pps=4 :smoothness (3-6) number of car updates per second

the higher the more packets are sent, the more bandwidth used.

Heh heh, that's the obvious.. :smileypul

Thanks Victor - I saw the option for smoothness, but didn't directly equate that to kb/s.

Just out of interest, are there any hard/fast rules as to how many cars a server can host ? - (I have 256kb upload)

easiest is to check out how much bandwidth a certain host-setting uses via the normal S2 version. On the host-setup screen there, you'll see a bandwidth calculator, which indicates how much bandwidth your setting will use at maximum. Then when you've found a proper setting for your connection speed, you just copy the host-setup values into your dedi setup.cfg and start your dedi.
