View Full Version : Round 2 Circuit Change

It seems that the round 2 track is causing problems with some teams, and it's deffinatly gonna be a problem in the race.

So my question is this. Do we need a circuit change for this race? if so please state which circuit and i'll create a poll to discuss weather or not it should be changed.

Back up your statements with something valid also please, dont just say, i hate the track.

Even thou i am not in the league the track is a very good one for the fzr but i don't see why it is a problem for other people. All it takes is one mistake on this track and you have alot of damage but this reflects on all teams.

All you have to do it go at a nice pace so that you can not make mistakes and be steady on your tyres and your laptimes.

I'm not in the league, but looking at your schedule if any round needs to be changed it should be the oval ...

That would be like Removing Monaco From the Formula One Calendar because drivers complained it was "too hard" and "i get to much damage."

The oval muST STAY!!!

The cars are nowhere near close and no R/L GT championship races on ovals.

SO Long stays... if ppl are having problems with the walls, then I suggest they spend more time practicing for it.

A race is about competition - not cruising around - not to mention that theres plenty of time left for practicing.

I agree.

100% agreed.

There some hard things in live, but we can't just turn away... we need to confront and get over. The same thing with this round.

Personally i dotn wanna change, but i'm dreading the marshalling and the amount of objections that are gonna be filed. Ah well.

And oval stays, for this season anyway:nod:

SO Long must stay. It's a great and demanding track - we are really going to find out who can handle their cars here!

SO is a good track and all but yea, Im also very concerned for the amount of damage and shizzle but then again who cares!? :really: Its only a race for a virtual leauge. :tilt:

Oval is gonna suck imho. 4 hours of a constant FXR engine sound flying around the same part of track every 60 seconds. Not my cup of tea to be honest with ya. Ill skip that one. :thumb:

Skip it? Dude, you aren't getting it... Oval is a big challenge as well. A challenge of keeping yourself awake  :elefant:

Despite that, if you get amongst a good bunch of drivers oval racing is actually tough. hotlapping oval i agree is boring but battling on the oval is great because it can last a whole race even!

If every driver practiced for the race, there would be no more damage on this circuit than any other... ;)

Hmm true yea. :scratchch

I still dont fancey oval racing though. I was gonna do FishFix's 360 lap GTR Oval race but even the practise racing was boring for me.

I agree.

Agreed too. SO requires a very skilled and steady racer and if any, this track shows who's really the best driver. :thumb:

AS for oval, practicing is boring i agree, racing is exciting though if everyone practices enough and gets to a fairly equal skill level the oval round can be fantastic

Yes, it can be REALLY fantastic. Fantasticly dull.Go do your oval bashing somewhere else. Like you said, you're not involved in this league in any way so just go away.

And on-topic: I predict at least 8 cars having to crawl to pits due to bad damage in the race but thats part of racing at South City. It wouldn't be so fun otherwise :tilt:

I hope backmarkers will be observant enough to know when to move over/slow down, as this combo can hit back really hard if done suddenly and on awkward places.

It is the lapping cars responsibility to do so in a safe manner, yes. But SO Long is narrow and have sharp enough corners for the backmarkers them selfs to cause problems.

I hope I don't sound arrogant, but I am concerned about safety on this combo.

Good luck guys.. I'm looking forward to this race :thumb:

Edit: "bark markers"? lol

I know I'll be watching my mirrors but also for you fast guys please also remember this track can bite if us slow guys are watching our mirrors we may hit a wall and then take you out too....point is this is a tough hard track and 4 hrs is a long time, we all need to use our heads

Can we all agree that the Three longish 'straightaways' are the Safest opportunities to yield to blue flags?

Depending on tire/traffic/etc conditions going off line through most of Sector 1, end of Sector 2 there just isn't enough room for clean overtaking without needless risks.

I hope the lapping cars will keep this in mind as well. Especially with bumps, high curbs, and manhole covers, I don't expect Blue Flagged drivers to immediately swing off the racing regardless of where they are on track. Within a 3rd of a lap there will almost always be a safe place to pass, just remember.

One suggestion from me, use your indicators to indicate which direction YOU will move in. For example if you're on the left side of the track and about to be lapped, turn on the LEFT indicator and slow down. :)

KSheppard

I disagree. My keyboard is nowhere near my wheel when I'm racing, and my G25 doesn't have buttons close to my hands that can be hotwired. I'm not going to take my hands off the wheel to fumble around the keyboard while driving.

Its not realistic either. This is a race, not a trackday.

I will make a clear movement to one side of the road or the other, but there is no way I, or many others, could effectively implement turn signals.

Leifde
20th April 2007, 15:10
I have mine set to my paddles since I'm using my sequential stick (I have a DFP). I know the G25 doesn't have many buttons on the wheel so it's kinda not an option for those with G25s.

Kim Gripping
20th April 2007, 15:12
Yes, of course. Using the indicators would make it easier for everyone to see what is going to happen.

Personally, I won't yield for lappers before I am in a place on the track where I feel it's safe to do so. There are no point in making a crash while trying to let someone past.

I am looking forward to the race, and I hope that we won't see too many crashes and yellow flags :)

Which is exactly why I wrote in the first place - to make ppl aware that they don't have to or rather shouldn't move/brake as soon as the lapping car gets near, but rather do it when it's safe - moving/braking suddenly is not even a smart thing to do on wider tracks.

It is just too risky in allot of places - so my concerned was directed towards odd moves at odd places :P

Right. When i read your previous post the first time i misread it. I thought it was directed towards the blue flaged driver. On re-reading, we both are in agreement. If everybody keeps a cool head it will all be fine out there. Good Luck to all!

yes, lapped drivers please understand that there are others in the race so move over SAFELY, as for indicating, you dont need to if it is not possible for you
